Republican James Sanford: "Do NOT vote for Giattino... I endorse Karen Nason"

Surprise!

Former Giattino supporter, HHA Commissioner James Sanford has not only endorsed Karen Nason for Hoboken mayor, he is throwing a fundraiser for her this Friday at 6:30 PM at the Village Pourhouse!

Sanford may be better known in Hoboken as a principled Republican Party activist, who at one time worked hard for the election of Jen Giattino.  Not anymore.

In fact, Sanford feels so strongly, his letter reads:
"Candidates Romano, Bhalla, and Nason will be credible trustworthy partners for the HHA.  In contrast, I implore you for the sake of the HHA; please do NOT vote for either Mr. Defusco or Ms. Giattino.  I cannot stress this point more!"
Folks may be interested to know that the horse crap site as of 3PM today, has not posted Sanford's endorsement letter- even though Nason supports that site with her advertising dollars.

In fact, GA hears that Chief Crazy Horse went nutso on Sanford's Facebook page when he learned of the coming endorsement. Apparently, Chief Crazy Horse was arguing with Karen Nason, telling her that anyone who votes for her is  "throwing their vote away."  So, he accepts Karen's advertising dollars, but publicly disparages anyone who would vote for her as "throwing their vote away."

Karen, looks like you threw your advertising dollars away.

Here is Sanford's political endorsement, banned to-date by Chief Crazy Horse!

  1. WOW!!! James is one stand-up principled guy! I met him several years ago working on Mayor Zimmer's first mayoral campaign and became an instant admirer. Although I do not believe that I could ever bring myself to vote for a Republican, I can admire the policies put forth by individual Republicans. I do not admire "Jen" because she has no principles. She merely wants to be Mayor of Hoboken because it's the next step of her chosen career path. "Jen" also has no political courage...she allows her surrogates to go out and dodge all the bullets for her. As Trump would say "SAD!"

  2. I am finding it enjoyable that one of her supporters has basically said "vote for anyone but Jen and Mike". Looks pretty bad for Jen to be lumped in with Mike by someone like James.

I do have a suggestion for James - ask for a refund!

  3. james and karen, two proud republicans who have core convictions, and loudly and publicly say what they believe. they don't hem and haw and pussyfoot around issues like another one of their party brethren candidates.

  4. Someone has a spine and the courage of their convictions, and it isn't Jen.

  5. So folks are being warned about by candidates, but he doesn't say why. What's that all about?

    1. Better to offer no reason than make shit up out of whole cloth like you and your kookfest.

    2. It's often unwise to ask questions you which you don't know the answers Indie.

James said clearly that he knows the candidates personally and has made clear he is basing his opinion on his personal knowledge and experience.

The many people who know and respect James will probably consider his opinions just as those who know and respect you will consider yours.

Voters listening to your opinions will certainly consider the source and the same goes for James.

    3. @indie, reread the letter. in the third paragraph, james clearly says one of the reasons is because jen "cannot [or refuses to] take a pubic position on who she thinks should be elected governor of new jersey".

it's yet another example of jen's inability or unwillingness to take a stand, particularly when if comes to her republican affiliation. what's up with that?

    4. James clearly has convictions. Jen clearly does not - and that has been pointed out repeatedly for at least a couple months. I suppose it sucks to be you backing a candidate who stands for nothing and clearly has no chance in hell of winning anything.

  6. I'm used to candidates in this town paying teenagers to canvas. I've been visited by Romano's kids and DeFusco's kids.

However, today I was taken aback by two pre-teens, probably 8 years old, wearing just thermal long sleeve shirts with a campaign t-shirts pulled over them standing there at rush hour outside the PATH with a campaign sign and literature. No adults (unless they were undercover, ha) seemed to be keeping an eye on them.

Guess this candidate doesn't have public position on child labor laws or exploitation either.

  7. I think it was one of Jen's sons and his friends. It's nice that her family is supportive of her candidacy. Nothing to criticize there.

I've been visited by her paid canvassers. They appeared to be in their twenties and we're polite and professional. As were the Romano paid canvassers who said me a visit. Nothing to criticize there either, except that neither set if canvassers could tell me why I should consider voting for their candidate.

  8. btw, on a separate topic: interesting how hudson county view became this election cycle's hoboken patch (and 411 before it) as the preferred destination for assorted wing nuts, political hacks and political hack wannabes to spill their bile in the comments section. i guess that's what happens when there's seemingly no moderation.

  9. This is confusing. So he doesnt support giattino becuase she wont publicly support a republican gubernatorial candidate? Does that mean that nason publicly supports the republican gubernatorial candidate? If so, what does that have to do the hha and what how is such a barometer for serving as mayor?

  10. from the ny times: "Republicans hope a tax bill will lift their fortunes in 2018. In crucial states like New Jersey, with high local taxes, it could do just the opposite."

where does jen stand on this? let me guess: no comment.

    1. Of course Jen has no comment. She doesn't want to ruin her chances to run for higher office. She and her supporters are such hypocrites.

    2. The tax bill is DOA in NJ! It's about time that the miserly Red States stop mooching off those Blue States that take care of their own and start acting a lot more responsibly.

    3. We need to cut our budget though. I agree, this tax bill is a disaster for NJ, but NJ needs to fix its budget.
