  1. This was a "vote explosion" all right.

    No pun intended.

  2. To borrow a phrase from a former Bloomberg employee, Roman, Kurt, Lenz and many others "will not be missed."

  3. In the end, it came down to this - Ravi Bhalla treated the voters like they were smart. Jen Giattino treated the voters like they were dumb.

    1. sadly to the end Ravi was thought as "dirty politics" by the telling the truth and saying #4thPlaceJenn© was a REPUBLICAN (so dirty). Everyone else was in the mud and Ravi kept it clean and on point. Will any lessons be learned? Midnight flyers will probably never go out of fashion...

  4. Congratulations to Ravi Bhalla, and Jim Doyle,Emily Jabbour and Vanessa Falco on their win. They now face a difficult task of trying to govern Hoboken with a very polarized City and City Council.

I would also take this opportunity to thank Freeholder Anthony Romano for entering the Hoboken mayoral race and acting as a buffer to keep Michael Defusco and the people behind him from getting into office. I am of the opinion that had Romano not entered the race a large portion of the two thousand or so votes cast for him would have gone to DeFusco. I don't think it was done for altruistic reasons but it was major factor in the outcome of the election.

    1. ... and if all Jen's votes when to Ravi, the "reform split," Ravi would still have been MDF by a wide margin.

    2. RR, there's more to it than that. I believe Michael DeFusco came very, very close to winning but not for Stick Romano hijacking DeFusco VBMs. Need the counts to analyze. But, I believe that if DeFusco's VBMs didn't get hijacked, today would be a different day. If DeFusco got "his" vbms, then Jens votes would have made the difference for Ravi. So, everybody thank Stick.

    3. RR, If pigs could fly we would all need much bigger umbrellas. The reality is that Giatinno was already in the race and without Romano coming in to it DeFusco would have won. DeFusco & Co understood that from day one and that is why they tried to keep him sidelined and when that failed focused their attacks him rather than Giatinno who they counted on to draw votes from Bhalla.

    4. Jen had no business being in the race. She had absolutely no chance at winning, little support among reformers and ran a very anti-reform campaign. I don't know who put her up to running but considering how poorly she did, a part of me suspects that some of the people behind her run wanted her to act as a spoiler so DeFusco could cruise to victory. Either that or they were just complete morons.

    5. I don't think Jen was a "moron."

  5. Team GiaFusco is nothing if not gracious in defeat.

We wish to congratulate our newly crowned alien overlords on their successful invasion. May your "foreign monies" bring you the joy you're so convinced you are entitled to as you end life as we know it, opening your bars willy-nilly at the old Union Dry Dock site so your burgeoning Antifa Chapter has a place to get wasted before spreading globalism and violence (which are essentially the same thing). We look forward to the 700 story buildings you have already committed to in exchange for an ad on Hannity, which by all accounts is the favorite TV program of your drunk murdering globalist colleagues.

As to our own results, obviously we are duly pleased at our hard fought VICTORY among the two Hoboken Sovereignty candidates in the actual election. We will be occupying ourselves in the coming weeks with the usual activities associated with a government in exile. Busy, busy, busy!

On the topic of our Corporate Website...

The most commonly used term for an anti-corruption blog that lies about poll data to advance the cause of a paying client is... former anti-corruption blog. However, we proudly stand by our assertion of "surging into a statistical tie for first." We simply used a different (new and VASTLY improved!) alternative fact-based formula, widely known as the "Good At Math Formula" or GAM-F.

GAM-F does begin with the conventional (out-dated, old, sad, pre-historic, lame, friendless) standard deviation of +/- 4%. But then it quite pertinently asks, "how many times better is your candidate than your unelectable, pro-murdering-rampage globalist, bad-at-math opponent?" A fair question, n'est-ce pas? We entered the comfortably conservative. figure of 12.5 times better at the prompt. GAM-F does the rest! 12.5 x 4% = 50%.

Thus, our showing of 2424 vs 4781 has us only 49% behind and well within the standard deviation of +/- 50% calculated by the Good At Math Formula! Pretty Nate Silverish if you ask me! In fact the Corporation may be branching out into alternative polling for devotees of alternative facts!

But again, our purpose here is not to toot our own horn despite our incredibly accurate prediction and our stunning victory in the Hoboken Sovereignty/Non-Cheating category - but to congratulate what's-his-name on eking out a forgettable 'w' in the Post-Sovereignty/End of Life On This Planet category (in which we did not seek to compete and therefore cannot be said to have 'lost'.)

As if further proof of our amazingly good sportsmanship were needed (and to be honest, as the REAL winners why do we even need to be good sports?) we made yet another joke out of the supposedly 'victorious' alien invader's religion in our headline. But only after checking with our Good At Communications Division to make sure it's one of the religions that it's ok to mock. We keep a team of professional victims on retainer to offer guidance for just this sort of issue, and they gave us a rousing thumbs-up! "Mock away!" they advised. And so we did!

Speaking of which, some of us here have a bit of bajob-sikhing coming up. Where do we send our resumes?

  7. now that the dust has settled, we find that:

joey muniz and north bergen posse are out of sync with what hoboken is now all about.

pablo fonseca may be a political genius in newark or old-school hudson county but doesn't seem to know what to do with new hoboken, managing only a couple of thousand votes for his guy.

the powerful russo family influence seems to lessen with each passing election.

window signs continue to be a clear indicator of...not much.

mcvictim gains ground on beth mason as the kiss of death for any campaign they endorse.

"tiff", neither the political strategist nor wordsmith she thinks she is, did more harm than good with her rambling, off-point online postings and comments.

roman and kurt...oh never mind, no sense in beating a dead horse. #lonesometown

  8. I find it interesting that commenters on the Giattino-propaganda blog are complaining about the "Sikhing" headline. Personally, I'm glad he used that headline -- it makes plain what this has really all been about from the get-go.

Also interesting is that the first complaint came from Monarch McVictim -- who's no-holds-barred assault on Ravi and literally everyone who supported him (including homophobic attacks on one of the biggest donors to the Lenz campaign) knew no bottom, whose newfound conscience comes off as a first step toward a strategic retreat to try to recalibrate his position in this brave new world we wake up to.

Of further interest is that neither Giattino nor Fisher nor Cunningham nor Kenny nor any of her other high-profile allies who touted their importance throughout the campaign have ever uttered one syllable denouncing the overt racism constantly emanating from the venue that supported them most vocally and to whom a check was issued from the campaign.

    This should not be forgotten.

    1. Making Sikh jokes was endorsed by a democrat so it's ok....

Taking no position on rent control was endorsed by a democrat so it's ok....

Bhalla being "unelectable" was endorsed by a democrat so it's ok....

I learned a lot about democratic endorsements in this campaign.

  9. Have not seen ward break outs for Mayor on machine, but if my math is right:
    Ward 1 Bhalla 619 (2), DeFusco 692 (1), Giattino 212 (4), Romano 379 (3)
    Ward 2 Bhalla 930 (1) Defusco 776 (2), Giattino 617 (3), Romano 286 (4)
    Ward 3 Bhalla 787 (1), Defusco 648 (2), Giattino 363 (4), Romano 562 (3)
    Ward 4 Bhalla 672 (2), Defusco 772 (1), Giattino 228 (4), Romano 384 (3)
    Ward 5 Bhalla 1034 (1), Defusco 674 (2), Giattino 603 (3), Romano 310 (4)
    Ward 6 Bhalla 735 (1), Defusco 554 (2), Giattino 400 (3), Romano 343 (4)

A few take aways on this I guess. (1) Bhalla wins 4 of the 6 wards (and finishes 2nd in the other two), but if he owes one ward his success, it is the 5th where he put up really impressive numbers and his win there appears to be 2/3 rds of his margin of victory (pre-absentee). He dominated 5-1, 5-6, and 5-7. (2) If John Allen or Jason Ellis or someone else affiliated with reform runs against Russo in 2 years, they have a good chance. The northern section of the 3rd ward (especially 3-5 and 3-7) put up huge numbers for Ravi. I am shocked Romano finished in 3rd there with terrible numbers out of (compared to past years) Church Towers. (3) Ravi only finished as low as 3rd in 3-3, 4-3 and 4-4 and did not finish in 4th in any district. Jen only finished as high as second in 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, and 6-5 and did not win any district. She did not perform well on the west side of town (4) As impressive as this win is for Ravi is (and it is really, really impressive in a field like this), he is going to have to work hard to win over the 65% that did not vote for him and the 7 council members who supported other tickets to pass his agenda.

  10. Just saw Ravi interviewed on MSNBC by Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle! He did a great job and looked and sounded really cool. I sure don't envy the job he's going to have dealing with the new crazy quilt Council we've got. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Anthony Romano for running and being the spoiler that helped hold off DeFusco. I overestimated you and underestimated DeFusco. So, let's all celebrate our victory for now. What lies ahead is a big unknown.

  11. let's hope peter, tiff and jen put policy over politics and come back into the fold to support reform initiatives. that would still make only five reform votes, but it's better than just two. it's hard to not hold a grudge after a loss, we get it, but it's time to do what's best for the city. the last thing we need is another council of no.

    1. AGREED! I would imagine that "Jen" wants to run for Mayor again. Don't know about the political ambitions of "Tiff" and Peter, but I assume they'd like to retain/rehabilitate their reputations. Therefore, it would behoove all three of them to suck it up, not sulk in public, and work cooperatively with Ravi, Jim and Emily to push forward a true Reform agenda. I think Russo and Ramos are completely selfish and unredeemable. A losing Duo no matter how you want to slice it. Let's hope that DeFusco, like Giattino, wants to run again and will be smart enough to realize how to behave. (I'm not too optimistic, though, as he has shown himself to be petulant and immature at every turn). That leaves Falco. Will she merely toss her hat into the OG ring with Russo and Ramos or perhaps show herself to be a real independent? Only time will tell.
