Giattino "hasn't decided" on which gubernatorial candidate she supports!

GIATTINO: I "HAVEN'T DECIDED" WHO I'M VOTING FOR (NJ GOV.)
In 2011, NJ  Lt. Gov Kim Guadagno came to Hoboken to swear in first-term Councilwoman Jen Giattino

This reader watched yesterday's Hudson County View Mayoral debate:
GA,
I'm a Republican who voted twice for mayor Zimmer because she was honest and fiscally responsible. She and I disagreed on many things but I always respected her honesty and independence.  I was going to vote for Jen because I thought she was the best of both worlds - Republican and a reformer.  But at the debate this morning I was shocked to hear her claim she was undecided on the governor's race. WTF? Is she for real? It's two weeks before an election between a Corzine clone and a solid Republican and she can't say she's voting for Kim???  I can't vote for someone who won't stand up for what she supposedly believes.  I'm not voting for Ravi  but at least he's honest about who he is.  Either I'll vote for Nason or just stay home.
GA watched the debate video earlier today and can confirm that yes, Giattino did say that she was undecided.

How is that possible?

New Jersey's Governor allocates money to fund state operations and education, grants and state aid, appoints department and agency heads, all superior court judges and county prosecutors, the New Jersey Attorney General and the Secretary of State of New Jersey, and performs all executive functions of the state.

RAISING TAXES
Take the Republican and Democratic candidates' views on raising taxes- they are very different.

Giattino has no opinion whose policies favor the average Hoboken resident?

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE

K-12 SCHOOL FUNDING
How about differences between the gubernatorial candidates on funding K-12 education? New Jersey's school-funding formula is $1 billion underfunded -- before accounting for enrollment growth.

Giattino has no opinion on which governor would benefit the Hoboken school district?

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

DEMOCRATIC  CANDIDATE

NJ PENSION CRISIS
And the differences in how to deal with New Jersey's pension crisis? "New Jersey had the worst-funded public worker pension system of all states in 2015, according to the Pew Charitable Trusts. Two of the state’s pension plans are set to go broke in a decade, experts say."

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE

Giattino has no opinion on which governor's policies would benefit Hoboken taxpayers?

SIGNATURE ISSUES
Down to their signature issues, the two major party candidates have very different priorities: property tax relief vs transportation infrastructure and higher education.

Giattino has no opinion on which governor is prioritizing the issues that matter most to Hoboken residents?

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE
"A "circuit-breaker" property tax relief plan, which would apply a credit to a homeowner's tax bill if school taxes exceeded 5 percent of household income. Guadagno would tap a variety of sources -- including from "auditing Trenton" -- to pay for the $1.5 billion plan.

DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE
In short, it really, really matters to Hoboken residents who is our next Governor- so why is Jen Giattino, a mayoral candidate, telling Hoboken residents that she is "undecided?"

Another reader has his/her thought on why Giattino won't come clean:
The woman who was sworn in by guadagno and was a delegate at the republican national convention ain't undecided.  It took Jen over a month to claim she didn't vote for trump and now she's undecided for governor?  That's BS.  Why would she support Kasich and not Guadagno?

It's kind of a pattern.  Is she for or against rent control?  For or against HoLa?  It seems she tells people privately whatever she thinks they want to hear and avoids a public position because she wants everyone to like her.  I'd like her alot more if she'd just tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.  Frankly the dissembling bothers me more than the party.  I want to know who my next mayor really is and why.
I concur with the above statement:
"she tells people privately whatever she thinks they want to hear and avoids a public position because she wants everyone to like her."
So then, how does the voter know what we will get, if she can't be honest with us now?

Ravi Bhalla tells you exactly where he stands on every issue. He will tell you WHO he is voting for, and WHY.  You can trust what he tells you is what he believes.

  1. c'mon, GA, those are national...no, wait, STATEWIDE, issues, NOT local issues, so none of it matters.

BTW, once "tiff" tells her who to vote for, "jen" will make a statement.

  2. This is an easy one: I'm voting for Guadagno because my taxes are high enough. She ain't great, but she's better than, "I'll tax you more" Murphy.

How Jen, a registered republican who was sworn in by KG, can't see that and say it is beyond me!

IMO Ravi needs to back off from his "sanctuary city" commentary, as that won't help him with the republican vote & he already has locked in his democrats/super liberals. Unless, of course, he really intends to go that route. If he does, I'm not a Ravi fan as of today.

    1. Hi snoopster. You and Ravi have the courage of your convictions. Everyone knows exactly where you are coming from and what you stand for (and don't).

Actually, Ravi supports Hoboken as a "welcoming city" which is different than a sanctuary city. And if that loses you, so be it. That is what happens when candidates have the courage of their convictions- inevitably they lose some support (and gain some hopefully). Unlike Giattino who wants to be all things to all people and does not take her private positions public.

With Ravi, what you see is what you get.

      https://www.welcomingamerica.org/programs/member-municipalities
A Welcoming City or County is one that joins Welcoming America and that:

Plans: All relevant sectors, such as government, business, non-profit, and others, work together to create a welcoming community climate that supports long-term integration.

Commits: Municipalities commit to institutionalize strategies ensuring the ongoing inclusion and long-term economic and social integration of newcomers.

Builds Community: Newcomers and long-time residents find common ground and shared leadership.

Communicates: Messages of unity and shared values permeate the community through the media, through the voices of leaders, and among residents.

Sustains: Policies and practices are considered to ensure interactions between new and long-time residents remain positive ones and the community’s economic vitality remains strong.

    2. That sounds very different than sanctuary city, so no issue from me. I had read he said it was going to be a sanctuary city. The best way to get illegals to become citizens is to help them integrate. Keeping them on the fringes creates real problems.

    3. To GA's point -the two are very different.

" A Welcoming City as one that serves everyone equally regardless of their immigration status, while a Sanctuary City offers protection from prosecution despite violating federal immigration laws through illegal status."

    4. If you bothered to read our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website you'd know they are identical. Both welcome and encourage the spread of marauding murderous drug cartels. Both are enabled through the TextGate messages sent by antifa and George Soros. TextGate, I might add, scored a 9 on our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Shrill-O-Meter, smashing the record previously held by The Sign at Church Towers. If that isn't HUGE NEWS I don't know what is.

  3. Jen can’t even say who she supports for Governor. It’s truly pathetic. How is she supposed to be a leader if she won’t tell us her positions on issues of relevance to Hoboken and her judgment and positions. That answer is all you need to know about pathetic this candidacy has become.

  4. You had to love Roman's explanation/excuse:

"Giattino kept it close to the vest declining to endorse any NJ gubernatorial candidate. Endorsement impact, if any, works from the top down not bottom up. Smart officials know that, especially candidates and don't show their hand when they need to work with elected officials up the ladder. Can you say smart negotiator?"

Can you say pathetic pile of horseshit? By Roman's logic Fisher and Cunningham should not have endorsed Giattino since they will "have to work with elected officials up the ladder" like the new mayor. Or are Fisher and Cunningham just not smart negotiators like Giattino?

    1. Is that horse-dung funnier than "TextGate"? Roman's latest cuckoo conspiracy theory- Ravi left his phone on apparently, someone texted him during the debate, so he shut it off.

It's a wonder- what happened to MSV's election time coverage of voter fraud/ VBMs? I guess the "reform resistance" is resisting covering Hoboken election fraud and corruption. SAD.

This blog seems to be the only good government Reform blog left that's still exposing shady election practices- or trying to. MSV continues to ignore a huge story: a campaign running around Hoboken delivering filled-out VBMs citywide, taking advantage of seniors.

The 'old' MSV would have been on this story in a minute. Now he's waxing conspiracy theories about a Reformer forgetting to shut off his phone, and not questioning why Giattino is "undecided" about who should be the next governor 3 weeks before election day. Yes, his answer is a "pathetic pile of horseshit."

All he can write about is Jen, Jen, Jen... he is as obsessed with Jen as Lane Bajardi was with Lenz, Lenz, Lenz...

    2. "TextGate" is a stand-in for TurbanGate. So is "unelectable" and "Hoboken isn't ready for..." Taking a trivial detail that would barely get notice with any other candidate and appending -gate to it. Because cellphone + turban = -gate. Just as lawfirm clients + turban = pay to play. It's disgusting. Especially seeing alleged "democrats" pitch in.

I'm reminded of Branch Rickey selecting Jackie Robinson because Rickey knew Robinson would be able to deal with the stupid, vile shit that would come his way no matter what he did. Bhalla is going to get a taste of all that every step of the way. I want him to win now more than ever just to prove the bastards wrong. #42.

    4. Kurt is doing his level best to pass off the bigotry as "just another part of the campaign."

The wolf is always at the door, so the story is never about the wolf. It's about who lets the wolf in, who wagers the trust they have cultivated to tell everyone they have nothing to fear from wolves, the wolves are just our big furry, ravenous friends. Exhibit A- Kurt.

That is the story of 2017. Not the bigots crawling out of the woodwork. It's the "nice people" who tell you the bigots are just letting off a little well-deserved steam. They take selfies with the bigots so you know everything is just fine.

    2. I don't think he covers politics, but I don't read his site anymore either.

I heard he was living in a cave somewhere. I think that was a joke though, maybe. No one I know has seen or heard from him in YEARS!

  6. an article this afternoon on the failing nytimes about how guadagno is going hard right in a last-ditch effort. since she's so far behind in the polls, i guess she thinks she doesn't have anything to lose.

hmm, how will "tiff" tell "jen" how to vote in light of that turn of events? c'mon "tiff", the hesitant one is waiting...

well, at least guadagno's new anti-immigration stance will surely meet with approval in crazy horseshitville, anyway.

  7. As our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Administrator has already beautifully explained, our candidate derives tremendous negotiating power from this little "I don't know, I just don't know, so many choices, such a hard decision..." gambit. Why, if Nancy Pelosi hadn't blabbed that she's a democrat, I bet Paul Ryan probably would've stopped trying to repeal ACA by now! But she couldn't keep her big yap shut. Loose lips!

Anyway, much ado, much ado. As our employee Indenial (sp?) has already stateds2, our campaign spokesmodel is on holiday. As soon as she returns, she'll let Jen know who she's voting for. It's not the kind of decision that can be left in the hands of the person we want you to imagine as your next mayor. Ditto the decisions that will be made while she is your mayor (as far as you know).

    2. Could be The Tiffstress, could be Mike, could be Bernie, could be other people. The main thing is it won't be Jen. That way you don't have to worry about her making a YUGE mistake by deciding something that's best left to more seasoned professionals.

By all means tell yourself you're voting for Jen. (That's adorable by the way.). But you're actually voting for Team GiaFusco. It's a package deal, kay? Now run along. Thinking is bad for you. Let us take care of that for you.

  8. Zimmer did not endorse a candidate in the 2013 NJ Governors race and that's a fact. Where was Zimmer not standing up to Chris Christie then? Answer - she was putting Hoboken first back then. There was no upside to endorsing Christie back then so why it is so wrong for Giattino to stand aside in 2017?

    1. People knew where Dawn stood on virtually every issue by then. She had no need to define herself, through endorsements or any other means.

How exactly is Jen "putting Hoboken first" by not endorsing while criticizing Ravi for speaking out? Is there a single controversial issue on which she's taken a clear and definitive stand? Indie claims she's more pro-rent-control and that Ravi "screwed the tenants," despite Ravi campaigning on the right side of the last rent-control referendum and Jen sitting silent. When pressed for an explanation, the only point indie seems to be able to articulate is that Jen created a tenant-advocate position that was "meant for" someone other than who it went to.

We know that Jen is supported by Mike Lenz, a man seen by many as having consistently sought employment and other forms of direct and indirect compensation for political work.

We know she has the support of Fisher and Cunningham, who both seem all too eager to get their turn in the spotlight.

If not through endorsements or issue positions, we can only weigh Jen's candidacy by what we know, which is that her campaign appears to have become a haven for job seekers who are willing to turn a blind eye to outright bigotry on the blog supporting them and whom they have supported through multiple channels, all in the service of the personal interests of a select few.

She'd be better off making a gubernatorial endorsement than be judged by the facts on the ground, because they do not paint a pretty picture.

    2. Also of note and to illustrate my above point:

Kurt Gardiner apparently now lists North Hudson Sewerage Authority as his primary employer. He made no secret that the genesis of his contention with Ravi stemmed from some conversations he had during his application for that seat that did not leave him sufficiently "feeling the love."

Then you've got Roman Brice, who received $1000 from the Giattino campaign and a broad solicitation of support from Tiffanie Fisher, after being rebuffed in what may or may not have been intended as a solicitation of the Mayor's family.

Again, not a pretty picture of the band of job seekers and loot coveters comprising the Giattino team.
