Earwitness News: "Mid-September" Poll results

Consider this post GA's act of charity to my readers.  That's you!

Because without today's Earwitness News, you'd be wading into gooey, sycophantic, saccharine horse-prose to learn what GA's  Q-Tipster offers you dispassionately.  Yes, my Q-Tipster won't compare candidates to Mona Lisa, nor gush about politi-fans "choking back tears"- none of that shit!

To save you from entering that hay-filled labyrinth of indecipherable fawning, my Q-Tipster  has the results of a poll done 3 weeks ago.  Folks speculate that this poll was an in-kind contribution to one of the Reform campaigns; we may learn more from the 29-Day pre-election ELEC reports due today.

Thank you, Q-Tipster for this Earwitness dispatch, (minus saccharine horse-goo):
A mid-late September poll shows whats stated there [horse site]. Its not at all conclusive as none of these polls are. It was "unbiased" however. No matter, any one of four can win. It's a fascinating election. Polls in Hoboken are extremely difficult in this election because of our peculiarly diverse electorate in a no runoff, incumbent free for all. The snapshot is all are clustered around 20% with 20% undecided.... a 5% margin of error... means its a scintillating down to the wire horse race.  There is a month to go and whoever has the best on the ground Election Day operation will prevail. It's truly statistically inconclusive for all four. Mike and Jen have closed the gap on name recognition since July.
Holy cow! A statistical dead heat!

  1. Well Nancy I still do not hear who these poll companies are? what is the companies names? It is an undecided race that continues to say FOUR candidates in the race instead of SIX. Yes that's right SIX. People there is still a month to go and NO ONE can predict what the folks do behind that curtain. Push 1H save yourselves from MORE of the same. And by the way why is it that no one dares to use their name on these sites. Because everyone hides behind the curtain. NOT ME Vote 1H NasonforMayor

    1. Hi Karen. I literally transcribed what my Q-Tipster told me. You are right- the electorate is divided by 6. It is anyone's race.

Why do people use screen names? Different people have different reasons. One reason in Hoboken is that 24 pro-Zimmer screen names were named in a frivolous First Amendment lawsuit by Lane Bajardi and Kim Cardinal Bajardi in 2012, including yours truly. People want freedom to express their opinions without retribution. People have jobs that require them to have 'clean' online profiles that don't return political commentary on Google searches by their HR department.

  2. someone (MDF campaign?) is kicking the dirty work into high gear, if the long comment about stick on the HR lead story this week is any indication. digging deep and personal, ouch.

i guess no one is down enough to pull out and throw their support to one of the remaining three candidates. have a nagging bad feeling about this one, reform may very well have blown it.

  3. sadhorsey just sticking to his BannonTrump narrative...... Why report the truth when you can lead with lies and #fakenews....boycotting anyone who advertises on his site seems to be the way to go #boycottMSV and some other hashtags #4thPlaceJenn

  4. Ravi and Jen both have advantages over their opponents because they're the only two who aren't single. That resonates with families who have everyday challenges that the others can't imagine.

    1. Oracle Karen Nason here I'm married and we have kids!

    2. Thanks for clarifying, Karen, and assuming your kids are grown, Ravi and Jen still have the life / work / young family balancing act in common, more so than the others, which may make them appealing on that level to other families.

    3. I was waiting to see what you wrote back. Do you have kids? Because if you do it never ends and you could look at it the other way Life/work/own my own business/ kids college/and that is appealing to families as well no?

    4. Karen - small kids resonates with people who have small children. People with college aged kids might not care as much about young families as those with young families do. I don't know what the demographics in Hoboken are, so I'm not sure how that plays. Anecdotally, I've seen lots of young families in town. But what I see and the true demographics may be quite different.

  5. It's also a dead heat in the race for who are the loneliest souls in Hoboken obsessing over their blog spinning day and night:
Brice, Gsrdiner, Fallick and Soares each have an equal shot at winning the celibacy contest!

    1. I guess it's "sex week" on the blogs. There's also a cut/pasted slam of Stick's night life around.

Some of the misspellings here almost seem overdone. Misspelling mayor during a mayoral election? "Deadicated"? Your phone stops you from those.

But if it's faked, it raises the question of "who benefits" and there's no good answer for it. Then again, speculating what goes through the mind of a dumbass is a dumbass's errand.

      Hurry up, November.

    2. John from Hoboken, please don't post links to trash here. Thanks.

    3. Trash notwithstanding, another glance at that Hudson Reporter thread shows the offending comment has been taken down, but the person who posted it has been revealed to be not from the Romano camp at all but a likely DeFusco operative.

At the same time, a pro-Bhalla commenter on Hudson County View is alleging their handle has been cloned by someone posting vile, inappropriate comments about Tony Soares - a DeFusco operative.

Although the evidence is all circumstantial at this point, it does appear likely that we are entering a new phenomenon I would call Manufactured McVictimhood - a new low for Hoboken politics, and that's saying something.

    4. The Gia's and Fusco's are blaming each other for what was ultimately a very bad impersonation of a homophobic bnr on the HR. Those campaigns have been the attack dogs of this election. I guess with the news that they are polling close together, they will start to attack each other.

Not enough popcorn in the world for this one.
