Grist for the Shill and Water politics

THE STICK SURGE

THE WATER ELECTION
Hoboken's 2017 race may be remembered as the Water Election.

Water, water everywhere in this campaign season: buying it, distributing it, containing it, draining it, separating it, directing it, investigating it, swimming in it.

Water has united Reformers with the Dark Side on a board to investigate Mayor Zimmer; to send her legacy to a watery grave (after a little water torture.)

Water-boarders (pun intended) were  Jen Giattino, Tiffanie Fisher, Peter Cunningham, David MelloMike DeFusco, Mike Russo, Ruben Ramos.

Water has divided two Reform campaigns against each other. Giattino co-chairs Fisher and Cunningham attempted water-boarding Mayor Zimmer to drown Bhalla.

Water-politics has launched private summer meetings, a DeFusco complaint to the DCA, a misinformation campaign by a Giattino campaign operative.  But the most impactful political water-game surrounds a renegotiated SUEZ contract.

Thanks to Jen Giattino, Tiffanie Fisher, Peter Cunningham and Dave Mello, Hoboken residents are watching $40M in benefits float away.

Thanks to Jen Giattino, Tiffanie Fisher, Peter Cunningham and Dave Mello, taxpayers will have to pay up an (estimated) accrued contingent liability of $17M when the water contract expires.

Water-politics.

Council members who played water-politics in 2017 will be water-boarded at the polls in 2019.

GA is thankful that one mayoral candidate is NOT playing water-politics; he's proposing water- solutions.

I usually don't post this stuff but... I noticed that other blog sat on this (morning) press release all day, then buried it below a letter in the evening.

One Reform campaign talks about window signs, another about policy; realistic, proactive solutions to Hoboken's problems.  Bhalla has introduced a series of policy proposals: on recreation, mass-transportation, education, now flooding.

What initiatives has Giattino proposed? Nothing.

Here is what MSV buried:

This historic $230 million will protect Hoboken from storm surge, and I'm committed to seeing this project through to completion while continuing a robust community process. It will involve comprehensive flood protection in North and South Hoboken to resist storm surge that will be integrated into the urban fabric of our community.

All of our new parks, including the Northwest Park and Southwest Park expansion will be constructed with underground storage detention systems to store rainwater during storms, which reduces localized flooding.  I'm committed to ensuring our Northwest Park will have the capacity to store at least 1 million gallons of rainwater. Our parks will serve the dual purpose of providing much needed open space while also providing flood protection.

I’ll be working with North Hudson Sewerage Authority to prioritize sewer upgrades in Northwest and Southwest Hoboken to provide additional capacity for rainwater and alleviate street flooding.

While our two current flood pumps have made significant improvements during flash flooding events, two additional flood pumps will provide even greater flood relief. I will push for one flood pump to be located at the site of the Northwest Park, and another pump to to further alleviate flooding in Southwest Hoboken near the Hoboken Housing Authority and light rail, and work with the NHSA on cost efficient financing options.

I will expand the implementation of green infrastructure into future development and municipal projects, which includes rain gardens, bioswales and cisterns, all of which absorb thousands of gallons of rainwater and alleviate flooding.

I pledge to join this coalition, made up of over 375 Cities which aims to uphold the Paris Agreement and reduce local greenhouse gas emissions, even with the President having removed the United States from the partnership.

I will continue to advance the municipal microgrid project, which will provide power to critical facilities including the police, fire and emergency services if the main power grid fails, like it did during Sandy.

  1. LOL! sorry GA, your sentence construction and overall grammar are far too good to be mistaken for the nonsensical blabbering on crazy horseshitville. i'm just glad you didn't get into water sports (ahem...)

remember, walk softly and carry a big STICK.

    1. SGI, would that be the "boys of summer"?

also, i believe you're supposed to preface that by saying "as the lazy summer days turn into cooler fall ones, representative yet again of the non-existence of climate change pushed by the the hillary-shilling, america hating lamestream liberal media elite and supported by notorious nationalist ravi bhalla, attention finally focuses on election season in hoboken..."

    2. Yes, the boys of summer indeed, swooping down on our sacrosanct little hamlet on the Hudson to nab the Shadow, the puppet and the dreaded Bhalli Ravioli to throw them in the same prison cell where they threw Beth Mason. The very same federal prison up over yonder funded by our tax dollars better spent confining the countess than combating "climate change."

That prison. The one Bet Mazin is in. Mr Horsey knows she's there because he's a highly credible source of information.

      No pun intended.

  4. Some VERY GOOD news for Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Subscribers!

As you know, or as you are soon to discover, despite her SURGE and her PICTURE of a SIGN and her STUNNING VICTORY during the non-cheating part of a poll no one cares about..... One of our candidates (hint: the one who hasn't promosed the moon to developers) is having trouble raising money. That's why we're stuck giving column inches to our own tweeter's tweets and our own campaign manager's endorsement.

Money don't grow on trees. Especially election money. It lives to have an impact. Election money doesn't think it can get that from our candidate. What is she to do? There's no such thing as free advertising. Or is there!

That's where you come in Mr and Mrs John Q Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Subscriber!

Your subscription dollars are subsidizing the barely concealed advertisements** we've been running for the Sultana of Surge! That's right, you're a Giattino campaign contributor! And we thank you for your kind consideration in these difficult times.

Sure, you used to want a website that wasn't simply the campaign mouthpiece and attack dog for a candidate. You may even have been thinking that when you forked over the dough for your subscription. But then ... suddenly... you changed your mind. Maybe you don't remember it now, but trust us, you did. You CAUGHT THE FEVER! That's when you decided you wanted your financial support for the site to subsidize Jen's advertising until she can find other sources of revenue.

We heard you! We applaud your decision! We made it happen for you! You're Welcome!

Team GiaFusco: Your Subscription Dollars at Work

**Of course, you are free to think of our tweet, our extraneous poll results, our endorsement of ourself, our picture of our sign as "news articles." Hey, knock yourself out.

  5. Jen the non-partisan just had her Republican fundraiser last night with state Republican chair Jose Arango. Nothing wrong with a republican raising money from Republicans. But the hypocrisy is hard not to comment on not to mention the chair of the Hoboken Democratic party participating as the keynote speaker selling the myth of Jen the consensus builder. Ravi and Jim were the consensus builders. Jen and Tiffany were 2 of the cats that needed to be constantly herded.

    1. yeah, so...starting to think tiffany needs to go. sorry, but this is inexcusable for a local democratic party head. she's of course free to support whomever she wants, but not as head of the local dem party. kind of disgraceful and basically a slap in the face to hoboken democrats. buh-bye, tiff.

    2. I'm really not surprised to read that Ms. Thing 1 and Ms. Thing 2 had to be herded. If you next tell me Mr. Howell was also problematic I'm afraid you're going to have to knock me over with a feather.

    3. How the hell did we get here? a few election cycles ago, we had what was supposed to be a reform oriented blog go all in on a candidate who was anything but reform. They were obviously financially motivated per my read of things. They went off the deep end with conspiracy theories, distortions, politically motivated posts, absolute denial of the truth, censorship and so forth.

Fast forward a few months and two new independent blogs sprout up promoting truth, free discussion, etc.... Yes they were politically motivated but at least they were relatively honest. So we all flocked there, discussed things and I'd like to think we helped educate voters with this free flowing discourse.

Now we have a blog who is doing a poor job of imitating of that now defunct blog in the past. Conspiracy theories, crap articles based on nonsense, blatantly biased and denial of the facts or just making the facts up and calling them rumors. And there are a parade of a half dozen idiots who play along w/ this game posting on that blog in support of those "articles". What happened and how do these people think it will end any different than it did last time? I agree that the blogs were impactful back then during the elections but only the honest blogs were impactful. The dishonest one everyone ignored and it will be ignored this time around as well.

  6. @me of course Tiffanie MUST go. What self-respecting Democratic Party in town has Chair who openly and activley supports a Republican for Mayor who had a Republican State Chair raising funds for her in our home turf. Tiffanie is a disgrace and thinks she can use the Hoboken Democratic Party to build her political career. She made her choice, that's her call, we'll make our call now too, she is OUT as Democratic Party Chair. I'd like to see a Democratic Party Chair who declares and acts as if her/his role is at the very least to support Democrats in town.
Tiffanie is out as Dem Party Chair and I am ready to support a Reform challenger in 2019. Same goes for "Zimmer is worse than Roberts" Peter Cunningham. He's has THREE terms. It's enough now. He needs to go too. This split will continue past November. We're well past the point of no return.

    1. Amen, All Hoboken! I am so sick and tired and, yes, DISGUSTED, with the pernicious influence that Republican politics is having on Hoboken. A person's support of Republican policies speaks volumes about his/her view of the role of government in individual citizens' lives. Republicans only view the government favorably when they personally benefit from its largesse, not when society, as a whole, does. I could write reams about this, but suffice it to say that Republican policies wreak havoc on Counties like Hudson and cities like Hoboken. We surely do not need vacuous politicians like "Jen", "Tiff" and Peter Cunningham running the show into the ground. Not one of them has identified one decent reason why anyone should vote for them.

    2. i guess we have to have a #realreformers revolution against the yes, fake reformers who are turning out to be a bunch of republicans or yes, the fox news freaks...well whatever it is - sign me up!

      Delete
    3. Yes, "TheBankRobber", we need a real revolution in Hoboken to push back against the faux "reformers". First, we need a march on City Hall to thank Mayor Zimmer for her steadfast and honest leadership...next, we need to call out the people, like DeFusco and Giattino, who are trying to throw a monkey wrench in the works for purely personal purposes. Neither one has any good reason for running for the office of Mayor, other than to satisfy their own vanity.

  7. Some questions for our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Subscribers. We want you to fully enjoy your involuntary financial support of the Giattino campaign. Our questions today concern keeping up appearances when we find it necessary to wander off the reservation, so to speak.

Sure, we'd like to do all our business on the Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website. But other than our own comments and those of our soon to be ground into powder critics, it's a bit of a ghost town. Unless you count mean people making fun of the our sign "article." Which we don't.

So, as literally everyone knows, our 3-man team packs their lunch pails and heads over to Hudson County View every day for the grim task of pretending to be 20 other people who very surprisingly hate Unelectable and/or love Jen.

    Questions for the reading public:

Does it help or hurt when a comment was obviously written by our website administrator? On the one hand, yes, embarrassing. Like calling Groucho glasses an impentetrable disguise. On the other hand, we score brash points. We show that we don't care how silly it looks because, you know, surge and so on. Like we're saying "Yeah, that's us - so fucking what?"

Follow up question. What does everyone think of the Jewish surname? Helping? Hurting? Discuss.

Ok, same thing here. It's our website administrator again. Duh. By design, the text is identical to the article on the Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website. Question: does putting the same, what we're calling, observations (talking points....) in two places help? What if people only read one site? Then we're covered. But if they read both, then they might smell a rat. Or.... maybe they'll think "the man on the street" has reached the same conclusion (and even uses the same words!) as our website administrator? Maybe it reads as opinion convergence rather than embarrassingly transparent message placement? Thoughts?

What about way-inside baseball? Edgy and intriguing? Or off-putting and irrelevant?

Follow-up. Does complaining about being outed while attempting to out the person complained of have a web wizard vibe or more of a "dumbass didn't read his own post" feel? Because we have dozens of these, so we need some feedback on effectiveness. Same for discussing details of the personal lives of our enemies. Makes us sound like a playa? Or makes us sound like a degenerate stalker? Let us know!

Another question on tactics. We like to call everyone who disagrees with us "Nancy." Does it makes it seem like only one person disagrees with us? Or does it make it seem like we've totally lost it at Jen Square View because the "Nancy" in question, Oy Vey, can't stand reform in general and even casual readers know that?

Lastly, is there such a thing as too many puff pieces about Jen per day? No, right? Otherwise, why would you subscribe to JSV? But we really want to hear your opinion on it, assuming it's positive.

Get back to us on all this. We want you to feel good about the way your subscription dollars are being spent on Jen's campaign and will do everything we can other than being objective to make that happen!

    1. If I am reading you correctly, you are an MSV subscriber who paid $75 to support a pro-Reform news site and got a Jen fanzine (that attacks Reform's Bhalla on a regular basis.)

      Are you a little disgruntled?

I hear there's a surge of disgruntled MSV subscribers. Anonymous independent sources call it a stampede! I heard a story from one of them... an independent anonymous disgruntled MSV subscriber said to another, "What the hell happened to this website? I used to get news, now I get syrupy, lovesick goo for one Reformer, and trashing of another Reformer! This is not what I paid 75 bucks for!!"

      No pun intended.

  8. Just was wondering if #teamjen is sending out memos to see if even more white men are available to stand next to Jenn in all her pictures? You know older dudes, tucked in blue dress shirts, pleated pants, hair line optional. If you are a suit guy one that would be appropriate to wear if you happen to be standing next to the Donald Trump, let alone Jenn.....
