Ravi Bhalla Packs City Bistro! (PICS, VIDEO)

Update: GA just confirmed last night's event raised $65K for Team Bhalla.

________________
What a night!

The metric of a fundraiser's success may be how much loot was collected- and GA doesn't know that yet- but...  if energy and enthusiasm for Team Bhalla counts, Ravi had a "Yuge" night.

Not kidding, folks.

For a campaign that's been dissed by Giattino folks as "lacking in popular support" for a candidate who is "unelectable," well, it's a big world outside of that (angry) bubble.

The event started off in the upstairs bar room. GA didn't know most of the folks, so was delighted to bump into dear Reform friends Hovie and Deb; both of these longtime Reformers may be diametrically opposed on national politics but not when it comes to who is the best person to lead Hoboken next.

Time for speeches! Folks moved into a larger room.

Oh look, it's the Shadow!

The Bhalla Line-up

My camera repeatedly cut off taping at intervals, so the following are Zimmer and Bhalla's remarks.

Mayor Zimmer's passion shows why she wanted Bhalla to succeed her, and Ravi's shows why he's the right person to lead Hoboken next.  Bhalla doesn't need to read words off of a card- it comes from the heart. Both are worth the listen.

  1. one thing jumps out from these images: the diversity in the room. this looks like a groundswell of support from all corners of hoboken, ravi's got a cross-cultural movement behind him...as opposed to just playing to the core 100 (or 85).

    1. As Mr. Horsey's hero Mr. Trump would say: WRONG!

We here at the Non-Aggression Pact GiaFusco hq we have a very wide variety of supporters.

We have the following diverse constituencies LOCKED DOWN!:

      1) The Bitter

      3) The Vindictive
      4) The Jilted
      5) The Envious
      6) The Disgruntled
      7) The Pious
      8) The Sanctimonious

      12) The Puerile
      13) The Conpiratorially Loony
      14) The Quasi-Codedly Bigoted
      15) The Victims
      16) The Sellouts
      17) The Developer Shills
      18) The Phonies
      19) The Nonpartisan Partisans
      20) The Glory Hounds
      21) The Revisionist Historians

      27) The Fraudulent Issue Advocates

See that? Count 'em, that's 27 -- TWENTY FRIGGIN SEVEN - constituencies represented by our broad coalition!

Now that's what I call a diverse support base of GIANT proportions!

    2. We also have plans to roll out new totally, completely, incredibly unrecognizable doppelgangers along with our our existing staff.

They share the totally, completely, incredibly commonly held opinion of our website proprietor that Giattino cast one only of five votes for eminent domain but deserves 100% of the credit for passage.

It's something we're experimenting with called trumpmath. Very pleased with the results so far. We believe trumpmath will show our candidate to have more petitions than all other candidates despite the pre-trumpmath numbers used in the fake media. Our trumpmath polling already shows us to have a comfortable lead with all demographics we trumpcounted.

This thing is in the trumpbag.

They are in the same firm (Hudson Place) and Renee and Jen will
sometimes share listings. Renee does it full-time and I've watched her
go from a struggling new realtor in 2003 to being the top go-getter in
2009. Jen does the real estate part-time but I think her sales have
increased too, she may be more full-time now. They are friends, and
Renee gave $750 to Peter's campaign in 2007.

I don't know if they are truly good friends or just friendly for the
sake of business (and now politics?). When I had my falling out with
Dawn (and Peter), I told [redacted] much of it - she and I have always been
friends long before she was my realtor. She was well aware of the
slanderous rumors Lenz tried to spread in 2007 about her and Paul. We
      had discussed that back then.

Paul Condon is much more guarded and is friendly to everyone so I
don't know how he really feels about Cunningham, but he has to stay
above the fray with having his firm in town I guess.

  3. Roman has converted to Beth Mason's religion of deviousness. Given that he had peddled the discredited theory that the DNC put out a hit on a staffer (FOX even disavowed it), should we really be surprised? Jen and Anthony advertise on his site, you know the one where racist playing up of Ravi's name goes unchecked by Roman, but God forbid anyone say anything about porcelain Jen, then he speaks up right away. True colors are showing and it's sad. Reform is in the middle of a full blown dumpster fire where our brand/principles are being placed second to Jen's desire to be Mayor. Eight years going to waste.

    1. All Hoboken, you are right. Roman has picked up the Ravi-jihad where Beth Mason's smear operatives left off. Stunning. Well, look what that did for her political career. Those politics didn't work then and they won't work now. Ravi's running a positive campaign, let them own the low road.

  5. Roman is pretty much innoculated from defamation suits since his dwindling traffic and credibility leave him incapable of actually damaging anyone.

But lying about the status of the condon matter in the same story in which he prints the letter in which he is advised of the facts (easily verifiable by the LFB) is a remarkably stupid thing to do.

Of course no one ever said horses were smart. I've heard even cows we're smarter.

    4. Since I have been BLOCKED from DEFENDING myself on MSV as this blog and yours truly have been disparaged, lied about, shredded, mocked and yes- libeled there, in the spirit of reciprocity the same applies here. Suck it up.

As for MSV's alleged "sources" on his reanimation of the Condon smear -an ethical, competent journalist would have asked Ravi for the status directly as I did in response to the trashy MSV effort to revive the Lane Bajardi- Perry Belfiore smear campaign- the answer is "there is currently a quorum and the time to take action has long, long passed. MSV is just like H411."

      I agree.

MSV also lied about getting Ravi's email from."non-governmental sources".

The only "non-governmental source" on the distribution was Emily Jabbour. I contacted Emily and she did NOT give the email to Roman. Nor did HCV. MSV got Ravi's email from a "governmental source"- probably Tiffanie Fisher or Jen Giattino.

That wouldn't be problematic except that MSV LIED about getting it from a "non-governmental source", which means Tiffanie, Jen, or whomever forwarded Ravi's email thought they were doing something unethical, and wanted their tracks covered. Funny how the Giattino campaign is leaking to MSV just like Beth Mason did to H411.

All I can say is, dumpster diving into Bajardi-Belfiore's old bag of Condon smears is sad and desperate. Doesn't Jen have anything positive to run on?

    6. Nancy, you're the one lying. You were stopped from commenting AFTER you kept censoring and elevating your censorship policies here. So can you at least stop lying about that? You want to stop the censorship? MSV is 100% for zero censorship - as always! But you kept asking MSV for a reciprocal ban because you have to protect your candidate from the slightest possible criticism and dissent. Some First Amendment advocate you are.

You claim MSV "lied about getting Ravi's email from "non-governmental sources." This is a 100% fact.

You need to stop lying. PROVE IT! I will challenge you again, PROVE IT!

MSV did not advocate any smear and did not do a story on the Condon situation.
Since you insist on lying about it, MSV will look into the claim the NJ Local Finance Board awaits a quorum under the next NJ governor. We saw Councilman Ravi Bhalla's position; it wasn't required to ask him again if he actually did publish his position in his letter. A source claims otherwise and that was merely noted at the end.

MSV goes on the record here to 100% certify as true the Ravi email, a public document by the way, did not come from any governmental source and that means neither Tiffanie Fisher nor Jen Giattino have ANY connection to MSV's obtaining and publishing that public document; re: Ravi's email to the mayor, business administrator, council members and Emily Jabbour.

    7. Oh, brother. I suppose if I delete the above, you'll write yet another screed? Okay, I'll answer.

      Get the chronology right.

      (1) End of June you blocked me for days, you said because I "spammed"- got all the texts to prove it. (When I tried to post, my comments automatically deleted.) The "censorship" was initiated over on MSV.-yes, I know, you will excuse yourself, because you are always right and righteous, and everyone else is wrong. The statement "MSV is 100% censorship free" is false on its face and in practice.

      (2) On July 26 you posted multiple times under this post:
      https://grafixavenger.blogspot.com/2017/07/wednesday-medley.html
When one of your posts turned vicious against your host, it was deleted. That is my prerogative. The same applies to everyone. In utter disrespect and defiance of your host, you re-posted perhaps 10 times- that is "SPAMMING". SPAMMING TROLLS and SPAMMING HORSES are not welcome here. You simply don't respect your host and have a misplaced sense of entitlement.

      (3) NOW you are going to "look into the claim that the NJ Local Finance Board await a quorum..." after you publish THIS:

A source familiar with the 2010 ethics complaint insists the case is not ultimately decided but awaits further action by the Local Finance Board. The board is said to lack a quorum to make any final deliberation so the saga is in limbo. Ultimately, the next NJ governor will make the nomination to satisfy the board quorum requirement.

An original $100 fine in the 2010 "Condon" matter was at one point dismissed, ruled frivolous before being revived for reconsideration. Now it's extended into 2018, at the earliest.

By your own admission, you didn't follow journalistic standards to contact Ravi to find out the status. Instead you revived the Belfiore-Bajardi Condon smear without the minimum in ethical journalistic practices. You deserve the criticism you are getting from myself and others.

      (4) Ravi's email could NOT have come from a "non-governmental source"- you had it within 24 hours of it being sent, which means someone on the distribution forwarded it to you. I have the whole email including distribution. I plan to publish it when I cover the SUEZ story- the email vindicates Bhalla from all the trash being flung at him.

      (5) Yes, you BLOCKED me from MSV after I deleted your SPAM on July 26. That means if I try to post on MSV, my comment automatically gets deleted. That is CENSORSHIP. But, guess what? IMO, a small price to pay to keep you off this site.

(6)You are NOT BLOCKED from commenting here, which is obvious because your post is still up. I have told you that since I am blocked on your site, your comments here will be manually deleted- its called RECIPROCITY. That is FAIR.

      (7) You have written several articles attacking me, this site since June. Your commenters attack me by name. "Hatfield" Sores is particularly vicious. Yet I am prevented from defending myself on your site because I am BLOCKED.

      (8) Yes, I suggested EARLY on (prior to any of this) that we agree to ignore each other until November, including staying off each other's sites. You didn't agree. In hindsight, it was a good idea.

Okay, you had your say. Whine and cry about this site, and yours truly, all you want from your happy place. I haven't changed- you have. I still write about politics. I don't write about internecine blogger warfare. I don't post tantrums. I have asked commenters a couple of times to focus on the topic, not other bloggers. They don't listen, obviously. Hoboken politics doesn't change- it is as heated as it ever was.

    12. snoopy, it's not an issue of "animosity" it's about boundaries. Mine have been violated on and offline. My instincts were right for us to stay in each other's respective corners until Nov. As you can see, my boundaries are not only disrespected, they are spun into something false and improper. This conversation is a major waste of time. Let him rant to his fan club.

As for other commenters, I've asked folks not to fire at internet screen names. You yourself have been guilty upon occasion (not too often) of engaging in provoking or criticizing screen names, I can think of one. All of this is bullshit and a sideshow. Roman has a lot of nerve to come here to bitch when I am blocked on his site, AND he has excoriated me/this site rather frequently; he "doesn't like it" and "it's not funny anymore" calls it "Sybil's cave". but as GA said, it's a little unfair and counterproductive to tease someone who's out of touch with reality. as with shooting fish in a barrel, the initial fun wears off after awhile.

We've seen this story before and what this sort of approach toward politics, blogging and such does. It devolves into nothing but nastiness. Makes me happy that I care so much less about all these trivialities.

As for Jen - If the best she can do for support is alt-right Trump supporters and disaffected political has-beens, she is doomed. The question is, will she doom the reform movement as a whole because she is too blind to see she has no chance at winning.

  6. No one needs to worry about Roman Brice, he is a non-entity at this point. Not exactly living an enviable life, yet too oblivious to see the irony in lecturing down to those who are more accomplished in every way. It's a shame. He stood for something at one point and is probably suffering from some form of mental illness and in need of an intervention, but his goodwill in this community is burned through and through. He is a literal joke now. It's almost tragic, just like Mason and Ines, any good he ever did is erased by his extreme dishonesty and transparent mischief.

    1. You're incorrect. The handful of Bhalla campaign operatives/supporters are wrong.
MSV will do the story now and then you'll be truly more unhappy.

Nancy has no choice but to follow the cowards with stupid name calling and the lying. Oh and the truth is violating her. It hurts so much; it has to be silenced. The truth is the enemy to the false accusations. So delete, delete, delete. Caught making lies with no evidence. Maybe it's not all her fault. She's being played as usual and will be shown wrong again. She has no idea on the rest of the story MSV is working on either.

So Nancy is compelled to delete MSV's factual argument as there is nothing to counter it with other than lying . As for the cowards here, well they will continue to act like the cowards they are. Snoop noted it but of course that doesn't stop cowardice.

Facts are the enemy here, not any opposition candidates.
MSV will be shown as accurate and truthful. Others, not so much. :)

    2. RO, Roman has a wife-beater personality. Won't take "no" for an answer, no matter how many times he is asked to leave, needs to have absolute control here over the narrative and disobedience will be punished with"unhappiness." Thinks he brings "the truth" that must be heard. Again, won't take "no" for an answer.

I've treated him with kindness over the years, designed business cards, a book cover, let him publish my graphics, and never asked for or wanted anything. Both he and "someone else" have gone nuts since I did not choose to support Jen Giattino. Well, Ravi is far more competent to lead Hoboken, and harassment from a horse will not change my mind.

Any suggestions how to get rid of the "wife-beater"?

    3. He really has gone off the deep end. All those alt-right websites and a little too much time sitting on the sofa with nothing to do all day makes the man's brain go to mush. He is irrelevant at this point and time - by choice. Might as well leave him alone and just call him out on his stupidity when he crosses the line as he has recently (if you have the time).

    4. "All those alt-right websites and a little too much time sitting on the sofa with nothing to do all day makes the man's brain go to mush." -- Nail struck squarely on head. No doubt Brice got dealt a rough hand and endured more than his fair share of setbacks for having stuck his neck out. But he wasn't the only one, and there comes a point where a person espousing such pure right-wing ideologies needs to start practicing what they preach and start exercising some personal responsibility to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and out of their predicament. Does he even have a job? What does he do all day? I feel bad for him, but at the same time, you can't just sit around in your sh!t for what's got to be going on a decade and deflecting blame for your problems onto everyone else. Pull your head out of your a$$ and stop acting like the world owes you something for your trouble.
