NASON INTRODUCES "NIGHT MAYOR" PROPOSAL
No one can accuse Hoboken mayoral candidate Karen Nason of not having vision. This time it's the concept of bringing a "nightlife mayor" to Hoboken.
What is a "nightlife mayor"?
A nightlife mayor acts as a liaison between city government and the restaurant owner, or the bar owner. He/she also "bridges the gap between the resident and the venue.”

I never heard of a "night mayor" before, but if it's working so well in Europe it's now come to NYC, GA's all for it.
So, Nason's newest campaign video starts as a conversation between Nason and House of Que owner Sean McGarr.
Nason gives a brief history of the "night mayor" concept; It began in Amsterdam, caught on in Paris, Greece and then New York City. Nason reports that NYC just passed new zoning law for adopting the "night mayor" concept.
McGarr notes that his friend, the owner of NYC's Webster Hall, is running to be the night mayor of NYC! He is totally on board with the concept for Hoboken. He adds that folks who were originally attracted to Hoboken because of its bar scene and night life, have stayed, have families and still enjoy Hoboken night life.
"There's something cool about Hoboken," he says.
Nason also talks about the disconnect between what goes on in a city during the day and at night, and reads a quote that cities are "not all about buildings, but about the socializing- what people can do in a city.
Nason then introduces a fellow named Rob Gebhardt, whom she endorses for Hoboken's first "nightlife mayor!"
"A night mayor bridges the gap between resident and the venue" says Gebhardt, speaking about the jobs and growth opportunities for small business hires than are created by a city's "vibrant" night life.
Well, GA is all for importing ideas that work from other cities in the U.S. and around the world. Why not?
