Hump-day campaign hijinks

THE UNELECTABLE CANDIDATE CLEANS CLOCKS, TOO
Hey, did you see that?  2,796 petitions!  Not bad for a guy who's "unelectable"!

I hear other candidates were so jealous, they climbed in the boxes and tried to eat Team Bhalla's petitions! It's true! Ravi had 5,000 petitions, but 'Stick' Romano ate 500, Jen ate 20, Karen made a pizza with 200, and Mike DeFusco hired North Bergen developers to eat the rest!

Anyway, congratulations to the most "unelectable" candidates I've ever seen!

REFORM "COUNCIL OF NO" STUNT: "WE WANT AN INVESTIGATION!"
GA apologizes for spoiling tonight's show, but this was too ironic to ignore!

It appears tonight's election time Council Stunt Theatre will feature Team Giattino "Council of NO" charging  Zimmer with malfeasance amid cries for an "investigation!"

No shit, peeps!  Metamorphosis complete!

Apparently the desperate campaign is going to point the finger at the biggest nerd-of-a-mayor Hoboken's ever seen and accuse her of "hiding" the liability that Hoboken owes SUEZ.

How 'Beth Mason' can you get?

Of course there is a rational explanation for the liability, but no time for explanations when a campaign desperately needs to distinguish itself, dirtying Zimmer as a proxy for Ravi Bhalla.

It won't work, but it will sure bring back memories!

For folks who don't know what the "SUEZ liability" is, it is all of the money that SUEZ has spent fixing Hoboken's broken water mains and on maintenance in excess of the current contract amount of $350,000.

No, they don't work for free.  All of the water main repairs and other maintenance above the $350,000 annual cap is the City's responsibility to pay.

So, all of those frequent water main breaks are automatically addressed by SUEZ, whether or not they exceed the cap under our contract.  As you know, recent years have seen frequent and serious water main breaks.  Instead of billing Hoboken for each one, these costs have accrued.

Nothing nefarious.

In fact, the contract that the Giattino-Fisher-Cunningham-Mello "Council of NO" is going to KILL tonight, would wipe out Hoboken's $8.35M liability  plus hike our current $350,000/year in maintenance contract to $1,800,000/year (average).

Unbelieveable!

NO RETRACTION FROM MSV?
Just an observation.

GA posted a statement from Ravi Bhalla yesterday regarding the status of the 2010 Perry Belfiore complaint  which obliterates MSV's false and injurious writings posted on August 1 and August 5, including: "Sources allege the NJ Local Finance Board is taking up the matter again after an administrative judge was overturned"

Here is the Bhalla statement again, in case it got lost in the hay.
BHALLA STATEMENT ON BELFIORE COMPLAINT STATUS
"The allegation that a complaint against me is "under active review" by the Local Finance Board is false.  The matter brought by Perry Belfiore was rejected on two occasions when reviewed by the courts, most recently by the Appellate Division. There was no finding of any ethics violation by the Appellate Division in its June 2016 decision , it is  not under "active review" in any court of agency, and is a closed matter. I  was cleared of all allegations, and the matter is closed, with no further rights of appeal. Further, the Local Finance Board has had a full quorum for the entire year and was well within their timeframe to take action further action but failed to do so within the applicable time frame (45 days)."

  1. Don't be surprised if "Eks-KYOOOOZ ME," "With all dyooo respect" and "I write my own stuff" start slipping into the Giattino/Fisher lexicon.

  2. This will be the best political operation since James Barracato emailed Sara Stojkovic saying "Buy the Star Ledger tomorrow. Dawn is going down the tubes with this hospital sale."

Me and Horsey read all those emails and decided in hindsight those people were really onto something! Now we have our own council people with aspirations and egoes we learned how to massage and manipulate from reading all of Lane's correspondence with Beth, and we're not gonna make the mistakes they made!

Even Lane learned from his own mistakes, saying of Tom Greaney's bankruptcy smear, "I just don't want to be in another Cammarano situation where we wait so long until it becomes too late," and that he was "working on this now with Perry" and "I think to do it 100% right we are looking at dropping the bomb Wednesday morning." (Or night, in this case)

Fortunately, there never seems to be any shortage of envy and resentment to fuel in this town for a couple of losers to ride the coattails of wannabes, so those who do remember the past are determined to repeat it!

  5. Are Jen and Anthony still advertising on that site? If so they own this non-sense. I think it's a campaign issue. I also think it's quite low of Roman to take money from candidates he talks about.

    1. Roman has a right to earn a living, and the PEOPLE have a right to KNOW! And if the 2nd Ward councilwoman wants to solicit donations and encourage readership for MSV via emails sent in her official capacity and he just HAPPENS to want to actively serve as the propaganda arm of her political operation, that's neither unprecedented nor groundbreaking. So up yours.

  6. The use of the term "Watergate" 110% of the time means intentional corruption. Not an oversight. Not a math error. Not failing to follow best practices. Not differing perspectives.

    It means intentional corruption.

    It's on.

  7. Burying the lead as usual!

Ask anyone in town and they will gladly tell you that the Top Story Today was that our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance corporate website got a bunch of pageviews. We even reported it on the Most Popular Website in town for self-aggrandizement so it's not possible that you just missed it.

In fact we are experiencing what Scientists at MIT call the High Page View / Low Comment Paradox, or HPV/LCP. This happens when a website is so popular that there aren't any comments. People are too awestruck by the awesomeness. Just as they're thinking about commenting, they'll experience a wave of Awesomeness Apoplexy, or AA as the fancy Scientists at MIT call it, and be unable to remember what they were going to say. Conversely, there's a quite a few comments here...... I guess someone decided not to be awesome? Suit yourself.

Further documentation on the "HPV/LCP" phenomenon may be found at this link.

Meanwhile, good luck explaining Pageview-Gate! The Boys of Summer will be here any minute now to inquire! Better get your stories straight!

  9. So we're stuck with the bad deal Ramos voted for back in 2003-2004? I watched the meeting and am astounded at how people can think voting against a better contract will somehow prevent water prices from going up. Prices are going up and we'll be paying for it, difference is now that we'll not only be paying for our own water but that of businesses.

I wonder how many people will be displaced when the water taxes get passed on to renters. Sadly this was entirely avoidable if the Council put policy ahead of politics and personal ambition. Frankly I'm disappointed in Peter Cunningham the most, he works in financial sales which should give him some semblance of financial knowledge to understand how bad the current deal is.

    1. Exactly. That was a real shitshow last night. The council no better path, so we are stuck in this lousy contract which covers only $350K/year in infrastructure and maintenance causing DEBT to mount. NOBODY talked about that. This contract is BLEEDING our city. Thanks to the COuncil of No, we are stuck with it.

      Stay tuned.
