Grist for the Trash

Call this a truth-intervention.

Did you find the croutons in yesterday's MSV word-salad?  Under heaps of florid prose, mangled syntax, and breathless hyperbole, they were:
  • Dawn Zimmer is Peter Cammarano.
  • "Growing numbers" of irate donors have asked Zimmer for their money back and are getting the "silent treatment."
  • Zimmer never filed her July 15 ELEC report... "Is she attempting to take the tens of thousands of dollars...? When you find the bunker where Mayor Zimmer can be cornered taking questions, let Horsey know."
Trust me, "Horsey" knows where he can get the answers. He didn't bother.

GA did.

From my dentist's waiting room,  I contacted Dawn Zimmer's Treasurer with a few questions.  It went something like this:

GA: Did Zimmer file her July 15, 2017 ELEC?

TREASURER: Yes.  We filed electronically on July 12, 2017.

GA: Have you received any donor requests to return money after Zimmer dropped out?

TREASURER: We've gotten two refund requests. The checks were cut on 8/25.

GA: That's all?  Do you have any donor refund requests pending?

TREASURER: No.

GA: Who requested refunds?  Donor refunds are public information.

TREASURER: (redacted) and (redacted).

GA: Last one. Did Roman contact you for his story?

TREASURER:  NO.

Next word-salad crouton:
  •  Ravi Bhalla attended an HHA constituents' meeting last month to get Brian Stack's endorsement.
Actually, it's funnier to read... GA calls this literary style, "Fifty Shades of Horse Manure."

"Last month Senator Stack held a constituent meeting in the Hoboken Housing Authority as he's done on occasion. One attendee sat among the residents through the meeting waiting for an opportunity. Except he wasn't a HHA resident but a Hoboken City Councilman obviously seeking an endorsement. Ravi Bhalla sat among the HHA residents as Stack allowed the meeting to end.  Bhalla was clearly pining for Stack's political support.    A reliable source [ Bwaaa haw haw!!!says Stack found the passive aggressive behavior annoying and the councilman's attendance among Hoboken's most vulnerable constituency more than a little entitled. He asked Bhalla why he was sitting with HHA residents at their constituent meeting? He didn't wait for much of an answer and quickly followed by telling him, "This isn't the place" and bolted out of the room."

Truth-intervention time!
GA: Need to fact-check. Did you attend Brian Stack's constituent meeting last month at the HHA? Roman wrote that you were there for an endorsement, and Stack told you "This isn't the place!" Is that true?

BHALLA: I was not at that HHA meeting, nor confronted by Stack. Pants on fire FALSE
So what have we learned today?

MSV does not fact-check, nor vet rumors which cause reputational harm to his targets.

MSV has become the Giattino campaign media wing.

Sorry, GA may be an advocate, but the truth matters more to me than Ravi Bhalla.   Truth matters more than anything.

You know, the truth is not hard to find, you just have to look for it.

    1. NJ ELEC corrected their mistake. MSV published its rumor column. MSV was 100% correct.

The Zimmer ELEC report was missing.

See the two updates added yesterday. Unfortunately Nancy Pincus is lying. Again.

Nancy Pincus, why do you lie when as it turns out MSV published the truth.?
You keep lying and lying and lying and I'm forced to point out your lying and then of course you have to resort to censorship.

      To cover up your lies.

Again and for the last time, NJ ELEC corrected their mistake and published the Zimmer ELEC report after MSV's Grist column.

MSV was and is 100% right.

I dare you to let the truth stand. I bet you won't. Your ego can't handle the truth.

    2. "Roman Brice" you are busted. You put up a dishonest hit job on the mayor and Ravi yesterday, it sat for hours before there was any kind of clarification. Unbelieveably are defending it today.

The point is, you published a dishonest story without VETTING its truth and accuracy. That is the POINT.

Did you contact the mayor's Treasurer re: the refunds? NO

Did you contact the mayor's Treasurer re: the "missing" ELEC? NO

Did you contact ELEC to ask if Zimmer had submitted her July ELEC? NO

Did you contact Ravi to verify he had attend Stack's constituent meeting at the HHA? NO

You went ahead and PUBLISHED it before spending 5 minutes vetting your "facts."

What kind of "journalist" are you?

      Delete
    3. No, the Grist rumor column is not "dishonest" It's a rumor story that is mostly accurate actually. It covers some topics people wouldn't want to comment on obviously. You can stop crying about it.

Mayor Zimmer has not responded. Take it up with her.

It's a rumor column and unlike you Nancy, it's clearly stated and known as strictly a rumor column.

Did Ravi deny that he had some exchange with Senator Stack at a constituent meeting in September? I did not see that denial. I see a rather short, limited denial about a HHA meeting. This was not a HHA meeting.

Maybe you'd like to ask him for the rest of the story. I believe the source to be reliable. Sure you want to press it? Ask him when the last time it was that he saw Senator Stack. See where it goes.

One reason an item makes it into the Grist rumor column is because there's not going to be all sources covered. Do you remember that aspect of the First Amendment law Nancy on not having to check all possible sources? Does that ring a bell with you?

Did you contact Dave Mello or many others when you wrote stories about them? MSV is clear in writing a story as a Grist rumor column, not a news story or analysis.

The Bhalla Campaign sends MSV releases and they are published as all campaigns when they send releases. But they don't respond and are not required to respond to all inquiries. They were asked to respond to the DCA response after the Labor Day Holiday. They elected not to. MSV did not make a big deal of their not responding to the DCA comment. They have that right and the original reference to the drawn out case was in a talking ed note.

So if you think there's nothing to any part of the Stack's meeting with HHA residents, I welcome you to do that story and ask MSV to comment. Perhaps I will. Maybe I'll get more sources to add to your story. It would be my pleasure.

Again, good luck to everyone on the Bhalla campaign.

    4. Yes, your story about Ravi is a complete FABRICATION. Keep digging.

    5. I don't think so. The source has been very reliable and others were less so who brought it up too btw. So go ahead. I invite you take the rumor column and follow up with the story as earlier.

The source has not retreated from it at all. But it is one source and that's why it is a rumor item in a rumor column. I believe the source did not make it up.

    2. Hiya Red Eye. MSV had it right all along. NJ ELEC made the error. The Zimmer ELEC was published later yesterday and MSV added the full report.

      Your welcome.

Unfortunately, Nancy had it wrong and tried to lie her way into yet another false accusation. She'll probably delete this to hide the truth.

Censorship is her political bag baby.

MSV had the facts rights, even in a rumor column.

    3. No, "Roman Brice" you are Censorship King, as I am blocked from posting on your site, and you are here- right?

Read my replies to you below, because the response will be the same. Your words, back at ya. No due diligence. You have become a bad actor in Hoboken politics. All you needed to do was ask Dawn's Treasurer, or ELEC, then ask Ravi Bhalla if he attended the Stack's constituent meeting last month, to vet the accuracy of the story.

Did you? NO. You put up your "story" and not only was it false, it was mean-spirited.

Your goal appears to be harming the reputations of the people you are writing about, even though they have given years of their lives for the Reform movement.

Now, if you'd liked to keep commenting here you can take down the block. Coming here and accusing me of censorship is just as honest as your article.

You owe Ravi a retraction and apology.

    4. No, I'm not censoring anyone. I responded to you in kind. If you want that ended, I will be happy too see it ended. Not like MSV was seeking regular comment here anyway.

The source is not saying there's anything incorrect in the grist rumor column.
They're standing by it. I'm not retracting a rumor.

I will lift your block. It was your idea never mine.

    2. Roman, the entire story was a lie. You claimed lots of people were demanding their campaign contributions back and the Zimmer campaign was ignoring them. That claim was untrue and your failure to check with Zimmer's treasurer, whose contact info you have readily available makes that lie at a minimum reckless disregard for the truth.

You did not say that Zimmer's July ELEC wasn't up on the site (a claim that frankly I have only your unreliable word for). You said it hadn't been filed. If you are telling the truth about the availability on ELEC's site, then fine "journalist" like yourself should have checked with Zimmer's treasurer, especially since you should have checking with him about the refund lie.

The fact that you lie even about stupid inconsequential matters exposes your true character pretty clearly. The fact that you lie about matters easily verifiable exposes your true intellect pretty clearly.

Your comments about polling exposes your knowledge of probability (an area of math) as worthy of a mediocre grade schooler. If those comments reflect the view of the Giattino campaign, then I respectfully suggest that they consider dropping the math thing from their talking points.

    3. No, I did not claim "lots of people." I will do on an update on the latest people seeking their campaign contributions back.

Chew on that Gristy chewable shadow. :)

MSV wrote a gristy rumor column and it was correct. The Zimmer ELEC was in fact missing. NJ ELEC corrected their error.

MSV published the full report noting same. Get over it.

A Facebook poll? You're still carping about that. How embarrassing.

If you think you can prove MSV wrong about NJ ELEC lay the wager.
I'll take your money again as often as you are willing to throw it away.

I will however thank you. Please, let me thank you in advance.
Name the price but I'm sure you already know this as NJ ELEC was contacted yesterday and made their correction. MSV did not ask them to make the correction. So we know that the Bhalla-Zimmer campaign did get to them and see them fix their error.

      Your welcome numberscruncher.

Let me thank you for allowing this response as I'm not sure you will encourage Nancy to stop censoring the unfounded and disproven false allegations she's made against MSV. Again.

So seriously, thanks for that and again, good luck to all of you on the Bhalla campaign.

    4. More dishonesty. Of course you implied a stampede of donors had asked for their money back. These are your words:

"Residents unhappy with Mayor Zimmer's less than transparent action have been reaching out asking for refunds. Contributors are contacting the mayor demanding a refund after her withdrawal and endorsement of Councilman Ravi Bhalla in one fell swoop. The response? The aloof Zimmer silent treatment as she ignores the growing numbers in and outside Reform not "on board with the program." "

Yeah, "growing numbers" of two people! Two requests, checks cut, none pending.

Tell your imaginary hordes to contact Zimmer's Treasurer. It's Zimmer's policy is to honor all refund requests. Happy to publish.

    5. So you can speak for those "pending?" SMH, let those people handle their private business without your incorrect assumptions.

And thanks again NC for helping to let the Grist rumor column confirmation.

    6. The TREASURER has no pending requests for donor refunds. NONE. Two filled on 8/25. Will that sink in if I repeat 10x more?

Go back to the "growing numbers" and let them know where to send their refund requests.

You are wrong. This is not "private business." Donations and refunds get filed on ELEC Amendments. It is public information. These two individuals will appear on an amendment. So will the "growing numbers" whom you falsely alleged are getting the "silent treatment"- that is, if they actually file refund requests.

      Delete
    7. Again, you make conclusions you don't have the ability to draw. You do this all the time.

Will it sink in if new requests are confirmed that you don't know about? SMH.
This is so stupid. You can't draw conclusions when you don't know the entire City of Hoboken.

Did Mayor Zimmer finalize all the requests made to her? Don't point at anyone else.
You just don't know. I'm going to end it there.

He has none at this time; (2) donors who requested refunds had checks cut on 8/25. How many times do I have to say it? Who gives a crap if it's a "personal decision" or not? It is all public information. Again, their names and amounts of $ refunded will be reported.

Tell your imaginary "growing numbers" to put their requests in writing and send to the Zimmer Treasurer. The Mayor and her campaign are honest.

"Some are wondering if Mayor Zimmer has plans for all that money and isn't telling anyone outside her inner sanctum. One NJ organization she must tell is NJ ELEC... But what about Dawn Zimmer? She had been the nominal head of the Reform Movement for years. Where is her ELEC report? She didn't file anything after the April fundraiser and NJ ELEC would have the campaign report available if it had been filed in July."

How can you DEFEND that? It took me 5 minutes in a dentist's waiting room to get the truth from Zimmer's Treasurer because I looked for it. You have completely lost your ethical compass.

DId you check with Ravi or his campaign whether he attended Stack's constituent meeting? NO.

Do you think it was fair to publish that stuff yesterday without checking the people whose reputations you're damaging?

Where is your retraction about Ravi who was NOT at that meeting that you claim he was at? (And where was your retraction about your false report on the Condon matter? Ravi provided the status that it was thrown out of the Appellate and the statute of limitations had expired. Crickets from you.)

Where is your clarification on the number of donor refund requests received and pending? (2,0)

You only clarified the ELEC report. That's all. None of the other unsubstantiated crap you published yesterday. But again, the point is you PUBLISHING FIRST, without fairness or accuracy by fact-checking. You have no defense.

I'm not retracting anything to the rumor about the event where Ravi and Stack were rumored to be at. So you can stop complaining about the rumor story and go ask Ravi. I think there's some omissions there. Just my thought on the rumor story's source.

You're still griping about the Condon note? Ravi provided you an answer. When I contacted the Bhalla campaign after the Labor Day Holiday with the DCA response, I got nothing but crickets.

    1. Guess what, Indie? The purpose of satire is to expose human folly- if you call it mean-spirited, so be it.

You wouldn't be the first person to translate political critique into a personal one.

I like Jen on a personal level and as a Councilwoman, but with this call for an "investigation" (a.k.a. politically-motivated witch hunt) she has turned into a DISASTER for Hoboken taxpayers.

Yes, my satire shows Jen Giattino morphing into Beth Mason. Like Beth Mason, Jen is improperly calling for a City Council "investigation." Like Beth Mason, she is (and the council) are so far out of their depth on this $8.35M that they are creating a material liability out of a contingent liability. Got that? A material liability means it goes on the books. It is not on the books for a reason. Because it is contingent. Now that Jen Giattino and Mike DeFusco have created a political shitshow, and DeFusco called in the DCA, this will likely become a material liability- thank you Jen! Beth Mason tried to hurt the city, usually failed. I don't believe Jen is trying to hurt the city at all. She is not trying, but she will by this present course of action. And in this, she is showing Beth Mason's incompetence.

Beth Mason-esque folly, as expressed in my satire. Don't like it? Change the channel.

Only she can answer as to why. Disappointing.

    3. Stop it already. You said the same thing 1,000 times on your site. Jen is not a "whistleblower" because this is not a material liability. Whatever - thanks GA - no high horse here (no pun intended) - I just disagree - don't think a comparison between Jen and Mason is remotely close to being warranted and not a comparison that someone that likes Jen personally would equate. 11. Who's going to win this election is anybody's guess, but one thing I know for sure - Giattino, Fisher and several others are going to learn the heard way that throwing in with the Russo and Ramos (or Romano) camps, even against a common enemy, may feel like strategic triangulatory politics and bridge building, but as many others have learned before, it never leads anywhere good. They have one agenda - using public service for self-service, and anyone who plays along with them is doomed to be their pawn and patsy.

I exclude Cunningham and Mello from the list because if we're being honest, they've been gleefully playing footsy with the bad guys throughout their political careers and delight in triangualating their way into positions of primadonnaship to force Zimmer & co. to beg for their support for no-brainer reform votes. Some of their actions over the years have reeked of outright corruption, IMO, though I have no proof they personally enriched themselves through government on the level that their new allies have.

And there's no point even discussing Soares, whose claim to have any connection to the Reform mantle expired many, many years ago and whose foot-in-every-camp is well known to his current cohorts, who are well aware he has a list of demands ready to present to DeFusco the day after Election Day if Mike wins and that if every single item isn't offered to his complete satisfaction, his hunt for a 2021 challenger commences on Day 2.

    1. I didn't bother mentioning indiecom since she's really only important in her own mind, but for the sake of completing the point, this, too, is someone who doesn't fall into the same category of people like Jen and Tiffanie, who's ambition and naivete may be allowing them to delude themselves into thinking they're using Ramos and Russo when they're the ones being used - indie has no such illusions. She knows who the Russos are and has always played nice with them, even gushing about Mike's performance to everyone who's listen last week. For an affordable-housing advocate, she has a curiously hands-off approach to the Russo and Romano's of the world, arguably the most flagrant violators clogging the affordable-housing supply in our community. Come to think of it, she's never had much to say about the Ramos family's nefarious history with the affordable-housing-dependent segment either.

This election is proving one thing, who people really are. My eyes are certainly open wide.

    2. This election certainly is showing Hoboken who's who. Mello, Soares, DeFusco, Giattino, Fisher, even Horsey. Rather than support each other, these 'elements' of Reform are trashing their former colleagues now opposition. Horsey is just deepening his venture / downward spiral towards lunacy with his idol, Trump.

    3. GA please keep up Roman's comments. They are the best indictment of his behavior, i.e. spreading falsehoods and then hyperventilating like he's in desperate need of a safe space as he scrambles to explain the unexplainable. The thread above is epic. It needs to be preserved. No one is being persuaded by Roman. He's just exposing himself. People should see it in how own self-damning words.

But I digress, ReformBaseball, way to hit it out of the park. Jen, Tiffanie, Peter are practically spooning Ramos and Russo and look what it has gotten them. They're eviscerating their reputations as competent, good government folks. This completely unresearched, not ready for prime time line of attack is quickly backfiring and Jen is losing support not gaining it amongst people for whom facts still matter. I'm amazed to watch it happen so quickly and incompetently. Wasn't there at least one person in their echo chamber who could have advised them to do their homework and be tight with their facts? Anger, resentment, ambition, and jealously have feasted on their rational brain and now their reputations.

Re: indie, I've written her off as being a partisan before an advocate long ago. An advocate would have had a series of policy positions and ideas, asked the candidates where they stood, then shared that information in writing with the public. Scores of well-run organizations and advocates follow this playbook on many different issues with measurable impact. Indie instead chooses her candidate and then tries to convince everyone they are good on her issue. Not how it's done well, so it's not surprising, as you note, that she has no critique to share of the people are the greatest threats to affordable housing stock in the city. She's a partisan, not an advocate.

    4. Reform Baseball: I don’t know who’s important or not; that’s not my concern – issues are and to your (idiotic) suggestion that Jen or Tiffanie are somehow falling prey to their ambition and naivete, mighty chauvinistic there, eh? These are two strong women who are neither overly-ambitious (Ravi’s purview) or naïve.
You apparently confuse being civil with some kind of ‘playing nice-nice, wink-wink thing’ Could be because you’re under the spell of the ‘question the mayor and you’re the enemy’ crowd. Personally, I was never gonna go there, but to each his or her own. – As for Michael’s “performance” – you may not like to admit it; but, regardless of where you stand on local politics - he outright flattened the mayor at the last council meeting and, quite frankly, she deserved to be flattened for the way she was attacking the city council members.

As for my personal feeling on people in affordable housing – put simply, I believe that people that don’t belong there should get out of it. This includes Russo, Romano and Ferrante. (surprised you left off Ferrante/Chapparo in your little litany) – Talk about someone being rather ‘hand’s off’.

As far as my thoughts on Ramos’ family. I’m not aware of anyone in that family that resides in affordable housing – so, that would be the reason why I’ve never said anything about it.

All Hoboken: I’d respond but your comment is so laughable, it’s worth spending the time typing a response. When your snarking, I’d suggest try to come up with something that’s grounded, at least nominally in some kind of reality.

    5. You're right, indie, I don't want to be chauvinistic - I gave Jen and Tiffanie the benefit of the doubt because they don't have quite as long track records as Peter and Dave of demonstrating tendencies toward corruption, but in the interest of gender egalitarianism, I'll concede the point that they're probably equally corrupt.

As for your love of Russo, no need to waste our time spinning it into praise for the speech, not for the man, specific to last week's meeting and nothing else. Your efforts on behalf of the Russo/Mason council leadership in past elections is widely known, as is the transactional nature of your affordable-housing bluster.

As I said, it's impossible to tell who'll emerge from this election the victor, but if there's any justice in this world, I'd like to think I can predict who the loser will be - it will be the entire gang of Hoboken's most corrupt, sleazy, parasitical thugs who've gotten away for far too long prancing around in the masquerade garb of "Real Reformers." Whether it be Jen Giattino and Tiffanie Fisher outright lying about critical city business in an effort to defraud the public to serve their own ambition, Peter Cunningham and his not-too-secret history of lobbying the mayor to bend the rules for his cronies and appointing deeply corrupt and unqualified buzzards to boards to score re-election votes, Tony Soares and his wholly truthless spin that he had nothing to do with the original, horrific Suez contract and his aggressive efforts to intimidate zoning commissioners to support his developer clients, Mike "I Never Asked for Mayor Zimmer's Support Except When I Did" DeFusco, Carol "I Handed the Council Over to Mason's Lawyers Because They Wouldn't Appoint Our Guy to be Finance Director" Marsh, Dave "I Want the Title not the Job, but I Really, Really Want the Title and Will Jump into Bed with Literally Anyone to Keep It" Mello, Mike "Most Corrupt Fourth Ward Councilman Since Campos and Campos was a Lot Smarter and Less Arrogant about Keeping the Corruption at Least a Little Low-Key" Lenz, and of course the ever influence-peddling indiecom and her tortured, ever-changing rationalizations for having no principles whatsoever, this election will be the undoing of the phonies. Or so I'd like to think.

    6. The Old Guard crooks will keep doing what they do. Belfiore, Romano, Ramos, Garcia, Raia, and so on - say what you will about them, at least they're honest about what they are. They want power, money and the power to make more money through government and hook their friends and family up with perks. And they know it. And we know it. And nobody pretends otherwise. And every two years, they go to their corner and we go to our corner, and the bell rings, and we show each other what we've got, and the side that has their act together wins.

The other gang is different. They put on masks. They call themselves "Real Reformers." They trade in piety, sanctimony, and ego-stroking of the ambitious and the morally malleable. They lie. Not little lies, like, say, Castellano saying "It's been cleared up," because, I mean, who's going to admit to being privy to a felony in a public forum? No, these people lie about WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY STAND FOR. They seek out "vessels" to field as candidates to advance their agenda. They saw Dawn as a "vessel." I've literally heard Tony Soares refer to her as exactly that, back when that's what he thought she was going to be. Then, when someone wins and turns out to have a mind of their own, they turn on them like the sharks that they are and start promulgating whisper campaigns that "she's not all that competent," evolving into "she's not really all that honest, either."

For the better part of the past seven or eight years, since pretty much the very first time Dawn said "no" to Lenz, this campaign has been under way. First very quietly in the background. A little Jabberwocky here, a few clandestine lunches with James Barracato there... then it became more overt. The Marsh resignation (not for family reasons), the Planning Board meddling, the school board slates that are always "endorsed by Dawn Zimmer" but never "endorse Dawn Zimmer"... and now here we are.

And I believe in my heart that there is justice in the world. And regardless who wins the mayoral election, I'd like to believe that what will be irrevocably lost will be this nefarious cast of rogues' ability to ever look anyone in this community in the eye again and purport to be one of the good guys.

    7. Some serious anger issues and delusions going on there, RBB. It's beyond (written) theater. I'm hoping my short comment here spurs you on to more bile and spittle. It's kind of like getting to read the internal workings of a mind full of masonesque vitriol and viciousness. I sure don't want someone likewise infected to take the reigns. Hope your preferred candidate(s) don't subscribe to your particular brand of venom, it would be a very bad thing for the community should they win and I'd recommend they distance themselves from such comments least the voting public think that they be likewise inclined.

    9. No, not at all, I'm not one to shy away from any debate. You've just gone off both the rails and the deep end and I have better things to do than to waste my time with someone so consumed with such irrational hatred. It's sad really.

reminds me of when the white house released president obama's birth certificate: entirely unnecessary to the 95% of people who don't wallow in crazy horseshit, but there comes a point when you have to put even the tiny percentage of nutjobs in their place.

Q: what do you call a Pink_NOVA who goes to the Coach House with a developer who contributed to his campaign who has business pending before the city which they discuss over lunch, then goes under a pseudonym and sermonizes about the ethics of his political rivals who have served the city honorably and ably for a decade?

    A: a muthafuckin playa!

  18. I wonder what circus plans pink_nova has in store for the next Tuesday council meeting.

He could instruct his team to do the smart thing and to try to extricate themselves from a plan that's failed. Even Beth was smart enough to do that on the hospital.

Or he could instruct them to double down with some kind of wacky scheme to escalate in a desperate attempt to get the press coverage that so far hasn't happened.

My money's on escalation. Which would mean Beth Mason is actually smarter than pink_nova.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We DO have a strategy. We believe it takes the best 3 elements of Beth's approach and adds a 4th that's sure to resonate with today's voter.

      1) Ask Suez to "sweeten" the deal by including a box of Sharpie's and some Forever Stamps.

      2) Declare that our good-with-math negotiators have at last struck a bargain for the taxpayer far exceeding anything the lame duck mayor and, by extension, her lame duck choice of a replacement could ever have conceived of let alone achieved.

      3) Hastily call the vote.

      4) Run on a platform of being good-with-math better deal-makers a la our spiritual leader, President Trump.

We also plan to insist on American water that was made with American rain manufactured by American clouds. #MAGA, baby!

      Team GiaFusco: Change that's Changey

      Delete
    2. We can only hope they'll do that because Mason's withdrawal plan allowed Zimmer to save the hospital. A similar plan here would pass the renegotiated water deal.

I fear pink_nova sees this as his last chance for access to power and will instead escalate somehow.

And as GG said repeatedly on MSV, the result could be screwing this thing up so badly we wind up with a huge tax increase instead of a better water deal.

      Delete
    3. Based on what I've been reading, a huge tax increase would be something that they could then blame the mayor for and then Jen can distance herself from it. Most people don't pay attention to details and might believe that narrative.

      Delete
    4. The increase would be next year if Suez says screw you guys and send a bill and the city doesn't move ahead with a plan B like passing an ordinance shifting the costs to ratepayers.

Zimmer will be long gone. The blame for this will fall on the council and it's those idiots who will be facing the wrath of the voters in 2019. Especially since the bill will continue to run up since it's pretty unlikely they will have done anything to stem the bleeding they caused.

      Delete
    5. That's great news and terrible news. Great because blame will fall where it should. Terrible because no one wants to pay higher taxes.

      Delete
  19. Nova and RG are fools. If you go through the mayor's Q&A, think it through and factor in the cost of the large liability that needs to be either rolled into the new contract or paid in full up front, it is pretty obvious there is no "better deal" to be had. But hey, this is all about politics and not facts. They are too busy spinning rumors into political hay to worry about facts.
