DeFusco's not counting window signs |
For those of us not counting window signs, an interesting confluence of events occurred today in Jersey City and Hoboken. Pat Kelleher, President of the Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council endorsed Mayor Steve Fulop in front of J.C. City Hall, then headed to Hoboken to endorse Mike DeFusco.
One insider's reaction:
"Stick as Freeholder was 100% supportive of the Building Trades. He really got stabbed in the back. DeFusco shows up for a cup of coffee... hmmm. Maybe it was a double espresso..."
Another:
"Anthony has been a union member his whole life. The police and the teachers unions. Anthony stood with the unions on picket lines. Just recently too. They tell him he didn't come out early enough to get behind him. Baloney. Sacco is really engaged in this process in the unions supporting DeFusco."The Building Trades endorsement has weighty financial and political benefits.; it brings a tidal wave of contributions and the aura of juice.
The real question is not how Romano lost endorsements he was expected to get, it's how DeFusco may have gotten them.
A source who works with Hoboken developers (and was asked to endorse MDF) provided a clue.
A source who works with Hoboken developers (and was asked to endorse MDF) provided a clue.
"Mike promised them unlimited development. Stick didn't want to promise something he couldn't deliver. They are with him (DeFusco) because he told them he will open the floodgates."
Is anyone surprised? What did DeFusco tell the owner of the Union Dry Dock property?
DeFusco mysteriously "knows" that the owner of Union Dry Dock doesn't want to negotiate the sale of their property with the current Mayor, but will wait for the next mayor (him).
How does he know this?
Keep counting window signs, Hoboken Horse. You used to stand against corruption. What happened?

starting to get the same queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach about MDF that i had last year at this time about trump. the unimaginable is somehow starting to seem possible, in this case thanks to the self-righteous egos of "jen" and her "core 100" (or 75), all fawningly and breathlessly supported by reform sellout steve bannon mini-me, aka the horse's ass.
ReplyDeletei hope to god i'm wrong. please let me be wrong.
If this fool gets elected, it is 100% the fault of Jen and her over-inflated ego. And yeah, her core supporters are to blame too - especially the delusional ones.
DeleteAll of "Jen"'s supporters are delusional, just like "Jen" herself. "Tiff" and "Jen" should polish up their Act and take it on the Road!
Deletedeluded, probably. but what annoys me more is the sense of entitlement they give off. "jen", "tiff" and the rest of their core 100 (or 75) were caught off guard and probably genuinely surprised when mayor zimmer surveyed the playing field objectively and, after consideration, came out in support of the person she felt was most experienced/accomplished and best suited to take her place.
Delete"jen" and her core 100 (or 75) could have put egos aside and gotten behind one reform candidate for the sake of the city. instead, they stomped their feet like petulant children, pouted about "hurt feelings" and set out on a course that began as a passive-aggressive effort to manufacture "grass roots" support and later devolved into a subtle play of the "unelectable" card on bhalla.
sadly, at this point the initial subtlety has been replaced by full-on formation of what we jokingly refer to as "team giafusco". well guess what? that becomes a bad joke when the city loses nearly a decade of progress under reform leadership and reverts back to the the old days under mayor defusco or romano, all because a small group of entitled children refused to accept reality and play well with others.
I totally agree! Mayor Zimmer busted her butt to turn this City around. I think the very heavy lifting she had to do 24/7 took a hell of a lot out of her and her family. She did a great job for which every resident of Hoboken should thank her personally. BUT NO, the petty idiots on the Council (i.e, those other Ravi Bhalla and Jim Doyle) are instead engaging in a collective hissy fit because they were not selected by the Mayor to pass the baton on to. My message to DeFusco, "Jen", "Tiff"' Mello and Cunningham is to grow the Hell up already! This election is not about you and your feelings; it's about whether Hoboken will continue to embrace reform and good, transparent government. We all know that if DeFusco or Romano is elected, it will most likely be a return to the old bad days of patronage and corruption. From all indications, if "Jen" is elected (because every window sign gets a vote), the progress that's been made under Mayor Zimmer will simply stop. "Jen" is a candidate in search of a cause...she stands for absolutely nothing. It's clear that Ravi, Jim Doyle, John Allen and Emily Jabbour have a real vision for Hoboken that includes solid proposals concerning open space, education, mass transit improvements, among others. The other candidates, quite frankly, are blowing a lot of smoke and hot air.
DeleteHey, how do you know for certain that's our Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website administrator saying Unelectable wants to open a bunch of bars? Our administrator is a man of 1000 disguises!
ReplyDeleteLook at this one! Impossible to recognize! Could be anyone!
Is that 2nd comment by Dirty$$Media our administrator or just one of the many, many Trump-worshiping, immigrant-hating members of Team Jen?
"Sounds like Ravi can't wait to get power and declare Hoboken a safe haven for illegal gangbangers." Hey, lots of people talk like that. And now that we've rumor-proved* that Unelectable wants to build bars all over the waterfront, it stands to reason that he wants a safe haven for gang friends too!
And who says Dirty$$Media is our website administrator anyway?
It could just be one of the many, many people who post our Corporate Website links all over the place! Like Dirty$$Media, in this example........
Bottom line: Unless there's proof, we're going to say it wasn't us!
Meanwhile the REAL story here is that THERE IS NO STORY!
Do you see anything on the Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website about our candidate getting the Building Trades endorsement? No!
Do you see anything on the Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website about our candidate's possible financial motivation for flipping out over ED at Union Dry Dock? No again!
Ergo those aren't stories. The REAL story is that Unelectable wants to open a bunch of waterfront bars for his gangbanger friends to hang out in. I guess Zimmer is trying to keep that one hushed up! But the First Amendment was too strong for her evil plans!
Team GiaFusco: What Changey Change Smells Like
*Rumor-prove. To start a rumor, repeat a rumor, and use the second repetition of the rumor as proof that the rumor is true.
The Giafuscos on HCV are claiming the unions endorsed Zimmer last time. I know they endorsed Cammy in 2009. The only way I could see them endorsing Zimmer is if they figured, correctly, Occhipinti/Ramos would split the OG vote, so they might as well get on the good side of the likely winner. But I can't find an article about it, and lying and personal attacks is pretty much the function of the HCV comment section in 2017.
ReplyDeleteStill you'd think Bhalla's commitment to opening bars all along the waterfront would score him a few points.
So now you join Nancy Pincus is making more stuff up? Giafusco is your creation. It doesn't exist. Speculation on what someone may want has nothing to do with an insane political power grab at the end of office.
DeleteWhich is exactly what this is as MSV stated in its Friday editorial, "Blowback."
If you think this is the way to support Ravi, feel free to speak for this insane eminent domain power grab in the last days of Mayor Zimmer's administration to help Ravi.
If you haven't already received the phone call to do so, here's your reminder.
As for Ravi's support, who exactly doubts Ravi supports this Mayor Zimmer eminent domain action? Anyone, anyone? Bueller, Bueller.
Ravi has as I've heard supported putting a bar/restaurant on Union Dry Dock.
Nancy, shilling is one thing but calling someone a liar when you're the one lying for your candidate is utterly absurd.
You seem to have forgotten about the "support" for Sharyn Angley you said Ravi gave to her and Parents for Progress.
Except it doesn't exist.
So please go ahead and make a correction. Because you and others need to stop with the lying.
Roman Walter Brice--"As you've heard..." and that's good enough for you? What if you "heard wrong?" Perhaps you're hearing voices.
DeleteThis article is about political corrupton unfolding before our eyes, and all you care about is Ravi, Ravi, Ravi. Or as Jan Brady would say, "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia." You attack Ravi and the mayor like they are Beth Mason. Not a critcal peep about Mike DeFusco-until he made a dumb crack about Giattino. But, it's okay with you that he seems to be cutting deals with developers, and telling them he will open the floodgates. That's ok with you, right? Because you are obsessed with Ravi, and Giattino.
For a guy who hosts NHSA Commissioner Kurt Gardiner's crude photoshop of a blow up doll labeled "Nancy", next to a guy named "Stan" you really have a lot of nerve telling me to change my editorial content
Nancy Pincus, you call "liar" with no evidence. Typical bullshit you love to do! Reminds me of a failed plaintiff with the EXACT reactionary response to anything where a comma might be slightly askew.
DeleteThe bottom line is Ravi supporting eminent domain in a land grab in concert with the mayor's Administration is not incidental, nor accidental and it is absolutely political. It's a end of term power grab playing to the bottom of the barrel for votes. You know it, I know it and the Hoboken people know it. Not going according to plan is it? You took down your Facebook post supporting it. That's what I heard!
You've made another one of your lunatic fringe personal attacks. I pointed out you're WRONG! The way to handle being wrong is not to change the subject. I'm not telling you to stop fanatical support for your candidate. You can say as much outlandish nonsense as you like and pursue as many imaginary hobgoblins with imaginary resolutions as you like. No one said you can't.
You can say as many times as you like here and on MSV that Ravi Bhalla supported Sharyn Angley and Parents for Progress because he told you so. Doesn't make it true. You can't even find a Ravi Bhalla "like" on Facebook for Sharyn Angley and her BoE slate Parents for Progress.
Ravi Bhalla can support eminent domain with the mayor on the last operating waterfront business if he wants and support a bar/restaurant there as has been stated. That there's no parking to do such a think like on the Weehawken waterfront is besides the point.
You are quick to label anything think someone says you don't like and declare them a liar when you haven't even identified who in fact lied about supporting Sharyn Angley and Parents for Progress. Yeah, you have some nerve alright.
Who lied about supporting Sharyn Angley? Who lied Nancy Pinucs?
MSV doesn't host anything. Commenters make comments and if you don't like the satirical political comment by Kurt then you can take it up with him. You can comment on the thread where his comment appears to your heart's content. Just follow the rules so you don't have to be put into another timeout is all that is asked.
Hey Nancy, did I put you in a "corruption" story and call you a liar?
DeleteNo, that was you.
Ravi Bhalla is certainly "in on" the eminent domain political action being pushed by the mayor.
Come to the council meeting and let's see Ravi Bhalla oppose it. SMH, the stupidity.
Sure, I have "evidence"- I sent this screencap to the person you falsely smeared and got his response. Now, since you are an alleged "journalist" go to Ravi get your own quote.
DeleteOk, since you are throwing a tantrum, I will remove the word "liar". The point I have made is that you were once a voice against corruption, now you are sidling up to corrupt individuals as long as they attack the mayor/Ravi.
This discussion makes me wonder whether we can ever tell when a crazy person is lying since they might just be crazy.
Delete
DeleteRavi is supporting eminent domain against the Union Dry Dock business on the waterfront. There is nothing that needs to be asked. This is politically orchestrated.
Thank you for the correction but alleging "you are sidling up to corrupt individuals..." is once again making the same error if not worse.
Please show me any evidence of this alleged "sidling up to corrupt individuals."
Also see: NJ Defamation law.
Thanks and everyone have a great weekend.
Yes, I looked up "NJ Defamation Law" and saw a pic of myself on your site as a blow-up doll servicing the mayor's husband. Yes, that is my opinion that you are sidling up to corrupt political actors based upon the crap you have been posting. That is not defamation, that is my OPINION. You are a public figure, and in my OPINION increasingly reckless with your "facts". Finally, I really don't know what Ravi is supporting re" eminent domain- have you asked him?
DeleteYou don't like another person's political satire, that's fine. Others don't like some of yours. I have been "sidling up to corrupt political actors." WTF is wrong with you?
DeleteSo you're telling me that you have no clue Ravi and Jim Doyle will back Mayor Zimmer's out of the blue resolution for eminent domain? It's a Festivus miracle perhaps! You think there's no political orchestration on this? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!
Now that is some funny shit. Almost as funny as the lunacy of the "sidling up to corrupt political actors" rant. Thanks for the laughs!

DeleteHey 'fish that's a whole lot of words for a whole of bullshit.
DeleteI have a innate distrust of $7 million government contracted lawyers on one ticket.
But hey, that's just me. I'm not sidled up to pay-for-play NJ government contracts.
No horse or Reformer is part of that million dollar tribalism.
Look you can make up your Giafusco narrative. Apparently here in the cave it's considered cute. I'll call it what is, certified bullshit.
I notice your public attitude toward the alleged"$7 million government contracted lawyers" took a turn for the worse when that ticket turned down your solicitation to buy an ad on your site. Coincidence? Funny, you had no problem with any of these individuals in 2013. What a disloyal phony. If they throw ad money at you will you stop dumping on them?
DeleteOh, one more thing: you wrote this: "You took down your Facebook post supporting it. [eminent domain] That's what I heard!"
DeleteThat's what you heard? You're "hearing" a lot of bullshit. The basis for what you write and repeat these days is based on what you "hear". You don't verify anything, do you? You used to. What happened to you?
No, I have taken down no Facebook posts. I would be curious to know the idiot who told you that.
Hey Nancy, every campaign was offered an opportunity to take an ad. My attitude didn't take a turn for a worse. My attitude like many Hoboken Reformers took a drastic turn after the June press conference where Mayor Zimmer pulled a twofer without talking to anyone in the community, her council allies or anyone in the Reform Movement with a little bait and switch Ravi action.
DeleteOnce again you just make shit up. So you're "style" is well known as you've gone plumb loco in trying to get Ravi elected.
I owe no politician any loyalty. They get paid to hold a temporary office of public service. If they think it's an entitlement to be manipulated and handed down and bestowed on their chosen; well Hoboken isn't the rest of Hudson County just yet.
We have this thing here called elections. Start liking it!
I hear lots of things. But who cares about your Facebook? Not me. I won't be going on a troll hunt to copy some short sentence of a comment there to put into my "corruption story."
DeleteThere's reasons members of the Reform council and other council members past are supporting City Council Jen Giattino for mayor. I don't expect intellectual curiosity in these parts as in the cave the bubble must be maintained and such basic questions must never get answers.
Oh yes, there's lots of reasons. None of these things happen in a vacuum but they do ooze and flap here in the bubble, kind of like the Blob. Ok, moving on to what matters not the hyper partisan whining and bullshit in this damp muddy cave.
Sure, it did. The very day the campaign turned down your ad solicitation, you posted that phony smear, "sources say" the Condon investigation was open until 2018. You didn't do your due diligence, just posted what you "heard." That's all you do these days. You "heard" I took down a Facebook post, huh? Voices in your head?
DeleteEnough with your smug condescension. I need no lectures on politics and/or elections from the likes of you. Go back to talking to yourself under a half dozen screen names, on your own site, and dropping malicious gossip on HR and HCV.
Nancy, you don't know crap but your mouth keeps flapping. Not that it's any of your damn business but candidates received notices on several occasions on status of placement opportunities.
DeleteNow, you unfortunately raise the Condon Affair which MSV did follow up after the Labor Day Holiday and inquire on the status and if it was in fact as claim by the Bhalla campaign "over." Their response was published in full and they have not declared the issue over.
You can talk to your selves and pals with their multiple screen names all day.
You've been doing it for years! Have fun!
Since you are so smug in being so wrong about so much, let me take this opportunity to tell you to stay out of my business and maybe you can stop contacting candidates to complain they took out an ad on MSV.
MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS!
Now, aren't you happy you brought that up? I certainly am. :)
Oh and please don't let me stop you from making up more absolute certified crap that you have zero evidence and could never prove in a million years. Your screen name accusations are hilarious, wrong and utterly dumb. Stick to managing all your screen names here and elsewhere. That should keep you plenty busy!
DeleteMore horse shit from the horse. On September 5 I published the Bhalla statement in full on the status of Belfiore complaint, the subject of your yellow journalism:
Deletehttps://grafixavenger.blogspot.com/2017/09/reformers-poised-to-kill-39m-benefit-to.html
As for "contacting candidates" to tell them not to advertise on your site, that is another LIE. I speak to Stick and Karen, neither of whom I said a word about advertising. WHO do you allege that I contacted, you liar. Unbelievable. Pathetic.
Well, all I can say is the day the Bhalla campaign said no to advertising on your site, that vicious, stupid, mean-spirited allegation that the Belfiore case was ongoing appeared on your site. Maybe all a big coincidence! Well, you NEVER contacted Bhalla to find out the status- I did. See above link.
"So now you join GA is making more stuff up? Giafusco is your creation. It doesn't exist."
DeleteI don't join. Anyone who knows me knows that. I have an innate distrust of people drawn together by political exigencies. I've lived to see that distrust validated yet again.
By "making stuff up" did you mean saying Bhalla wants bars on the UDD site, or something else?
Re: Giafusco, what the fan clubs of those two candidates have in common is introducing a level of rancor into online discussion not seen for quite a long time. I do see questions about Giattino's qualifications, and these are becoming more sharp with time. But the faux Watergate and the daily attacks on Bhalla's character, and "Zimmer is worse than Roberts" - that has come from the Giafuscos. We all sort of expected it from Propeller. But coming from the rest of you was a bit of a surprise. As was the failure of anyone to offer a counterpoint when GA was being accused of homophobia merely because it seemed like an available line of attack at the time.
It's all off a cliff now. Doesn't matter what anyone says or does on the way down, it won't change the destination or the outcome. This is nothing less than the return to tribalism.
Nancy, I'm not going to tell you any of my sources but as evidenced by your own double standards through this page in this one post, I'll leave you to examine it for the lengthy hypocrisy demonstrated. It loos like comments have disappeared here but I'm not going to detail again the campaigns being given equal opportunity as that's a consistency applied on MSV, end of story. There's no expectation in that universality.
DeleteOnly MSV published an answer from the DCA on the Condon Affair. It was a minor point in a Talking Ed Note. The answer did not come back to your liking. Any question of Ravi, the $8.35 million Suez water debt to you is a "vicious attack." Again, the double standards seen in this comment threat alone are astounding. This complete savaging of anyone raising the most modest inquiry asking for transparency is not Reform.
Again, the Giafusco coinage is frankly stupid. Yes, it's cute to some and the quoted stuff about prior administration is a quote from where and who exactly but that's besides the point. It's limp.
Sybil's Cave went off the cliff as soon as Reformers bucked the less than transparent action by the Mayor and those around her in launching that whacked out press conference like Hoboken is just another HudCo door prize.
That's when it went over the cliff and some right down the rabbit hole with it. The tribalism is well exhibited here and the personal attacks outlandish, unsubstantiated and hypocritical to the tenth degree.
Some people need to look in the mirror at their "rancor" before pointing fingers. The Hoboken public doesn't serve at the whim of politician's self-avowed entitlements for power and political office. The crybaby whining all the while dishing it out but not able to take the mildest criticism is beyond immature.
Keep the legion of personal attacks here and off MSV. That's the only reasonable expectation anyone can hope for during this election.
Good luck to all of you on the Bhalla campaign. Try not to go Hoboken Antifa on anyone by Election Day and good luck with that too.
You are a liar. You didn't cite the DCA, you cited a "source." The matter had already been adjudicated in the Apellate Division (thrown out) and the 45 day statute of limitations to refile had expired. Ling ago. The case was dead as a door nail. You didn't know anything, wrote from complete ignorance basedan on a "source." Failure of due diligence is your brand these days. Never was before.
DeleteAs far as allowing defamatory attacks on John Allen on your site, that's okay with you. You call my defense of John a "personal attack". The i dividual attacking Allen is a DeFusco operative. When you find your moral compass, let us know.
Comments have not "disappeared", Mr. Fast and Loose with Facts. Catfish deleted his post and reposted. Your wahhhhh-fest is all here.
DeleteDo you want to denounce something Nancy ? This is libel .. do your work for once and show real facts . You are absurd and confabulate over and over .. you have lost whatever credibility you .. (n)ever had ?
ReplyDeleteJust like when you were barely a council woman .. barely because they fired you for being mentally unstable ..

Folks, HobokenedOut is a shared screen name. On the weekends, the illiterate primate-on-duty comes from Paterson, see above.
DeleteResponding to Dangcatfish above (before the thread took a detour), attached is the article with the press release from Ray Pocino of the New Jersey Laborers Union endorsing Mayor Zimmer's team in 2013. You have to scroll through the ramos campaign events first. http://www.hobokenhorse.com/2013/10/ramos-campaign-of-events-week-mayor.html?m=1 And John Heinis on HCV linked to this article in the comments on the Trade Union article on his site: http://www.hobokenhorse.com/2013/10/hudson-county-building-trades-22-unions.html Your analysis of why they backed Mayor Zimmer last time is probably very true.
ReplyDeleteroman, we realize there's so little happening on your blog (exchanging comments with your five other readers must get tedious) that you need something else to do with you time, but how's about you just wallow in your own smelly barn and not soil this site with your attention seeking. if MDF or romano win, you will never be able to wash away that black mark. think long and hard about what you're doing, and what you're helping to destroy. reformers in this town will remember who stood together and who let their schoolboy crush on a spoiler usher in a return to the bad old days.
ReplyDeletein other words, get lost.
"Zach Steinberg" and "Julia Cohen" shared their support for one of our candidates during Yom Kippur.
ReplyDeleteThree minutes apart. 3.
Question for Team GiaFusco Reform Resistance Corporate Website Subscribers.
If we happen to know the website administrator who did that - and we are NOT saying we do - does it read as gross religious insensitivity? Borderline anti-Semitism? A profound degree of cultural ignorance, like suggesting Sikhs who disdain intoxicants would want to open bars?
Or... or does it say that support for Jen is so important that the High Holy Days will just have to wait? Can we rescue this fiasco by starting a pop-up group called Jews for Jen? Non-religious Jews for Jen? Don't worry - we're not trying to do something crazy like fix it. We just need a palatable excuse.
These things happen, am I right? The thing to do now is to paper it over quickly and move on. And let's all try to remember that it's 2017 and, by Executive Order, non-Christian religious don't need to be taken so seriously anymore. Amen to that!
Team GiaFusco: In Step With History Itself!
plus of course the adorable jen baby flyer showed up on Yom Kippur....when I finally did read it they oh so brilliantly figured out how to show some cultural diversity by throwing in a stock photo of a few different races. That will make sure no-one has noticed the whiteness of her tickets

ReplyDeleteLOOOL! 100% correct, but in a way that's 100% opposite from how you meant it. does it escape you that this is a perfect self-description? you even stole my previous depiction of "jen" as the entitled politician!
They're running a completely negative campaign with respect to Bhalla (wants to open bars at UDD, inviting gangbangers, conflicts, conflicts conflicts, Zimmer is worse than Roberts, recycling Beth's Condon dirt, taking the racist Belfiore's side). It's pathetic. Meanwhile they're giving Defusco a pass. It wasn't long ago that his supporters were here trying to ruin Nason personally and professionally. They got their asses kicked and ran away. That's a good thing. They know where they aren't welcome. They also know where they are welcome. Giafuscoville.
