Well folks, here's some dish...
GA's heard chatter which portends a shake up in Hoboken's mayoral race.
Sources inside and outside our Mile Square are telling GA pretty much the same thing: the 'Money Men' behind mayoral candidate Mike DeFusco have become uneasy.
The Money Men's estimated "hundreds of thousands of dollars" may either be tucked in a PAC or an Independent Expenditure (I.E.) account; unlike PACs, I.E. accounts circumvent ELEC filing requirements, and there are no contribution limits.
In any event, sources say these Money Men are dismayed by the lackluster performance of their chosen candidate, Mike DeFusco. Specifically, his failure to build his campaign, mistakes, and a failure to build necessary relationships for a successful campaign. In short, they are reconsidering their support.
These are various quotes from sources:
"He hasn't gotten traction."Don't shoot the messenger, people.
"He's squandered 5 months of opportunity to build a candidacy that's self-sustaining."
"He's way behind where he should be."
"Romano has an alliance with Stack and Murphy on the line. Not through endorsement but Stick may be more effective. Has name recognition, likeable, respectful, country wide relationships, law enforcement pedigree."
"The better candidate is right before them but they haven't seen him."
"Romano checks all the boxes."
"They're looking at Russo, Raia, Ruben and Romano."
"Once Romano locks up Freeholder he has something to trade."
"Romano is an easier sell. He's already loved at the county."
Based on sources, the Money Men seem to be weighing other options, and it looks like all roads lead to Romano. GA was told:
"Through all the virtues and assets Romano is a better candidate than DeFusco... Freeholderships are very powerful positions to builders and labor unions... 100's of millions of dollars in economic redevelopment go through the Freeholders... between next Tuesday and July he's in a position to negotiate as to support for his run for mayor. He'll have something to offer."Hmmm. The plot thickens!
Don't throw your money away, money men! Tune into the Wanky Channel! All Wanky all the time!! You give us 22 minutes, we'll give you a disturbing memory!!!! Fake news!!! Sad!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow put on your favorite pair of Wanky Dukes and let's go to the park!!! First one to get arrested wins!!!!!!!!!!!
Romano can't win. We all know that and Zimmer would prefer him as the opposition. If the money guys think Romano can win, they are fools blinded by their own greed and/or a visceral dislike for a rent control loudmouth who led a charge to beat them back and won. MDF if obviously courting Falick and the money guys can't have none of that.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they both run? Yea, think you have a point about Falick and the money guys.
DeleteYa think maybe Mikey's poll that showed Romano to be twice as popular might have something to do with why people think Romano might be, well, twice as popular?
DeleteRomano may or may not be able to win, but stripped of the BS DeFusco can't even rise to the level of a blip on the radar.
If Zimmer actually was more afraid of DeFusco than of Romano then she's actually be the twit Soares thinks she is. DeFusco/Soares/Fallick is a gift from the political gods. Romano is the base on base horserace she dreads.
Mayor Stack has already endorsed Mayor Zimmer.
DeleteA smart MONEY MAN or WOMAN would be backing Mayor Zimmer and her ticket.
ReplyDeleteZimmer doesn't want that kind of money, with strings attached.
DeleteSome money men and women are already backing Zimmer. Totally gone mainstream with her share of real estate investors and developers already firmly in her camp.
ReplyDeleteRun Jen Run!
is that on an elec that you can point to or are you saying zimmer is breaking the law and concealing contributions?
DeleteBeing a real-estate investor or developer doesn't make you a bad person and Hoboken needs them to continue to prosper.
DeleteThose who have reportedly been behind DeFusco do appear to have bad inclinations.
repeating the question - can you back up that statement that developers are funding zimmer with an elec report, or are you saying she has unreported donations?
Delete"They're looking at Russo, Raia, Ruben and Romano."
ReplyDeletedon't these money men have any imagination? is it always going to be the same retreads election after election? by that logic, might as well add garcia and waiters on that list too, what the hell!
fwiw, i like zimmer, voted for zimmer in the past and will vote for her again this time, but do think stick has a chance if he decides to run. he may not win, but he has a chance, the best chance of any zimmer opponent. put a fork in mike, he's done.
The one who beats Zimmer, hands down, is Jen. Jen throws in and we all win.
DeleteRun Jen Run!
run jen run, another stupid defusco pet trick, but definitely preferable to promoting homophobia on the first day of pride month on behalf of a gay candidate.
DeleteUnless DeFusco drops out, adding candidates to the mix will only further fracture the any anti-Zimmer vote. If f Romano, Ramos, Russo, Raia thought they had a realistic chance at winning they would already be in the race. My best guess is DeFusco will patch together some sort of ticket, hopefully not embarrass himself too much more and hope for a miracle.
ReplyDeletewhy is raia even in this discussion? isn't it abundantly clear that no one is interested in having him in any elected office? i've heard he's a kind guy to friends and helps people out, but please. mayor? no.
Deleteas for the rest, ramos already has the taint of a past loser and russo, despite the lock on the (dwindling) OG vote, will forever have the very very difficult task of overcoming that damning FBI video (it's the opponent's campaign ad that makes itself). stick is the only possibility, and i'd still put my money on zimmer.
Frank Raia's power is not based on winning elections for himself but for injecting himself into the elections to gain leverage. So he doesn't need to run for mayor to be able influence the mayoral election. Michael DeFusco's handlers went ballistic when he came out for Karen Nason and Anthony Romano's not happy that he is backing Patricia Waiters. Raia with all his money and influence in Hoboken and Hudson County doesn't need to be elected to be a player. Sometimes Raia appears to just like screwing up the plans of people he doesn't like.
Deleteyes @11:14, i know and agree totally. but the line i quoted from GA source included raia in with romano, ramos and russo as ones the money people are "looking at" and commenter @8:35 mentioned him with that group as well. i get that he has influence (vote buying and otherwise), but i can't imagine why anyone would think frank would have any chance at being elected major.
Deletealso, frank has influence but even that too has been dwindling. the OG voting numbers are on a steady decline and people who have moved to hoboken in the past 10-15 year don't know or care about him and can't be swayed by his money.
Run Jen Run!!!
ReplyDeleteEvery night Mike Russo goes to sleep and prays to his Old Guard Idol Statue that Councilwoman Jen Giattino will run for mayor this year and split the Reform vote.
DeleteMikie Squared and his OG buds always wake up disappointed with a longer list of sad big developers.
Sorry OG and phoney Reform-Lite OGs, Jen Giattino is smart and has a ton of class so that isn't happening. Morons.
Phoneys like those being bought off with jobs in the primary as the candidates piss boy....
DeleteJen can beat 'me all - Do you have any idea how many have been begging her to run? Do you have any idea how many people don't want to vote for either Mike or Dawn? Easily the majority. Lots of people don't want to vote for someone going for a 3rd term. That's someone trying to be a dictator. Lots of people don't want ant to vote for the developers candidate either. Jen runs, Jen wins.33
DeleteToo tight 2:57! I hear over 100% of voters want Jen to run! Once an anonymous poster repeats it 2 or 3 times its practically true!
DeleteYou all So Funny!
ReplyDeleteWatch Washington Street this week. Big Improvement coming
Watch what? All the pot holles get bigger. Holes so deep you can see China if you look in many of them
Delete11:10 Proxy-boy from Singapore- the "pot holes" talking point worked real well for mayoral candidate Occhipinti in 2013. His "pot holes" strategy got him whopping 17% of the vote.
Deletehttps://youtu.be/tbU3zdAgiX8
ReplyDeleteDeFuso rolled the dice and craped out.
ReplyDelete5...4...3...2...
ReplyDeleteIn the final indoctrination to HCDO /HUDCO Zimmer was seen yesterday campaigning around Hoboken with Adam Alonso of Beth Mason Fame.
ReplyDeleteAnd they say DeFusco is sleazy?
I think people say DeFusco is sleazy is because they see that he is.
DeleteAlonso escaped the Beth Mason train wreck years ago. He works for Phil Murphy.
DeleteI think MDF has also endorsed the whole E ticket from Murhpy on down*. I say I think because MDF changes his position so often no one can really tell what he stands for.
Delete*The possible exception might be Brian Stack due to his relationship with Nick Sacco,
All this anti Mike talk will end when he wins in November and you can all go and suck it. Get the right hand ready Nancy, the gas pumps are awaiting your touch
ReplyDeleteThat's funny coming from a proxy-luvin, lawsuit-threatening piss boy. Welcome from Singapore.
DeleteReliable sources report that Mike's benefactors are not enchanted. I'm told they think the online behavior of surrogates (you) is counter-productive. The phrase I heard was "amateur hour." So, your kind of advocacy is driving away the grownups. At least Romano doesn't employ children like DeFusco. Employ as a figure of speech. Everyone- except for you, knows the above information is accurate. The hubris and stupidity is bringing Mike down more than any blog post here or on MSV ever could.
in my OPINION Ryan Yacco could put a stop to MDF surrogates bad behavior here if he WANTED to.
Deleteif 11:04 was so confident he wouldn't throw all that shade at nason. he knows she's taking votes from develop-or-die defusco.
DeleteTony did a nice job writing Al's column today.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I thought!
DeleteBINGO
DeleteThat column was truly hilarious: everything about Zimmer is automatically stale/failed/backwards looking/bad and everything about her opponents is automatically fresh/forward-looking/good. What a simpleton, hi-larious.
DeleteTony couldn't have had anything to do with that column. He's lots of things but stupid isn't one of them. Tony desperately wants Mike to win and whoever fed Al this story line obviously wants Mike to lose badly. There's no way this is Tony. It's got to be Zimmer op trying to make both DeFusco and Tony look bad.
DeleteAl Sullivan said:
Delete"This election may well be a turning point for Hoboken, and will decide whether the town will stagnate or find a new way to progress."
Sounds alot like "Develop or die." I agree with the previous poster who said Tony Soares couldn't possibly be that stupid. Aliens must have kidnapped him and replaced him with a Lane Bajardi clone.
Read more: Hudson Reporter - Battle for Hoboken begins
In my OPINION its Tony- the same idiot who posted that Alonzo campaign with Zimmer earlier today. Zimmer campaigned with committee people. Phil Murphy came to Hoboken with his 3 sons to watch the soccer game at the club on 6th and Bloom. Zimmer and Murphy met up later- Alonzo was with Murphy. Al Sullivan was at the same bar. So put two and two together. How would Tony know about Alonzo? Alonzo did NOT campaign with Zimmer.
DeleteFalse accusations cost people years
Deletewas Alonzo photoshopped into Zimmer's photos?
Delete3:08, 8:02, 8:05-- Alonso didn't CAMPAIGN with Zimmer, that was your "false accusation." How many years will that false accusation cost you?
DeleteWhere is this suppose screen captor of the MDF facebook post any way? As someone who claims to only tell the truth and has sources, you should stand behind the screen shot you have since your all ways telling everyone how reputible you are. But you can not post it because you altered it. The money men are all lies. You are all lies. Half the comments on this site are bots you created. Not every one is stupid. You lie and tell tails so much you believe your own lies. A coward behind a key board.
ReplyDeleteMDF is proving to be the coward and that becomes more evident with each passing day.
Deletehey troll @1:25, if all that is true then why do you care or bother with this blog? sounds like you don't even believe your own BS.
Deletewhy don't you start your own blog to tell THE TRUTH about hoboken politics, and be sure to give us the URL so we can be educated.
defusco provided the screen shot. it had the word bullshit in it. that was it. he looks more dishonest than ever now. hiding behind being offended by the word bullshit so he doesn't have to back up his, yes, bullshit on social media. lives in jersey, works in new york and gets boo-boo ears when he hears someone say bullshit? pathetic. he shouldn't have posted a screen cap and just let everyone think ga said mf a bunch of times. instead now they all know he's lying. again.
DeleteSorry 2:37- You're kidding! Can you please download and send me DeFusco's photoshopped screencap? grafixavenger666@gmail.com Hilarious!
DeleteSorry, the word "bullshit" was NOT in the (2) posts I wrote on April 19, 2017 on Councilman Mike DeFusco's Facebook. I really am enjoying this idiotic chase for my screencaps too much to end it. So DeFusco is shopping forgeries? I want to see them!
Darn, this is too much fun to end. Well, okay.
Attention IDIOTS: the screencaps were posted HERE on GA BEFORE Mike revoked my blocking privileges, and BEFORE Mike scrubbed them! The screen cap w created on:
Thursday, April 20, 2017, 2:01:40 PM
Okay... now.... go find them!!! ha ha ha ha ha! The first one that posts the link to the screencaps wins!
Dummies!
(oh yeah, DeFusco is a liar.)
If Defusco provided the screenshot, grow some balls and forward it. Calling bullshit on your claims you have a screenshot where GA says "bullshit".
Delete7:24, it's running about 80% anonymous here. Be specific about who your calling bullshit on.
DeletePS. Why do you need to see a screenshot with the word bullshit in it.
Here's the word "bullshit," ready? Bullshit.
Not that exciting. Defusco pretending it upset him is beyond stupid. But what's your point?
The "run Jen run" stuff on this thread is pretty funny. As if there's a huge supply of people who like Jen but hate Zimmer. Here in the real world people who like Jen mostly like Zimmer and vice versa and the same for the rest of the reform team.
ReplyDeletePretty much the entire supply of those people who hate Zimmer and wanted Jen (or Tiffanie) to run against her (Soares, Fallick and a few friends who've been around the hoboken political block a few times) have cast their lots with DeFusco after spending years bitching to Jen about Zimmer and trying to persuade her to run while Jen listened politely, pretended to be interested, then told Zimmer all about it.
Not happening kids. Never was, never will. DeFusco's your horse. Enjoy the ride to the glue factory.
Hoboken stagnate?
ReplyDeleteIsnt that an oxymoron?
Are we going to really trust in Karen Nason..??
ReplyDeletethe lady sells alcohol illegally .. WTH?? !! I don't want that kind of woman making decisions that affect my town..
Try Union City .. KN !!
https://youtu.be/niqrrmev4mA
DeleteYou are way out of line Alejandro! I would be very careful with libeling my business with your lies, are you working while your doing this.? Defamation suit might really dip into that money from Mike's campaign.
ReplyDeleteTell em Karen! Do not take shit from nobody!
DeleteI'm a person who likes Jen and who would like to see a change. It doesn't mean I don't like Dawn. I just think her tenure is past due and her agenda is much too narrow.
ReplyDeleteI think Jen could continue with the good things that Dawn has done and maybe add a few to that agenda.
LOL! Yeah, right. Interesting approach to trying to drive a wedge within reform, but it's an obvious bogus ploy and a fail nonetheless. The vast majority of people feel it makes sense to let Dawn "continue with the good things that Dawn has done".
DeleteIt was may been an interesting approach the first hundred times it was tried but now it is just lame.
Delete8:44--Thank you for sharing your warm and loving feelings toward Jen. Jen is not running for mayor. She's a great 6th ward Councilwoman.
DeleteI'm finding all the Jen-adoration comments kinda creepy.
"Tenure past due"?
So you don't care for a 3rd term of balanced budgets, AA+ bond ratings, reduction in taxes, increases in property values, new parks, flood management technology, Washington Street water main replacement, etc.
Well, a 3rd term of THAT sounds GREAT to me!
Nice photo of Zimmer with Alonzo at Jueventes club. Its on video an Photo
ReplyDeleteSo WHAT? Zimmer was campaigning with COMMITTEE PEOPLE all day, then went to Jueventesto meet Murphy who was there with his 3 sons. I saw the vid- it was nice.
DeleteYou know, some public officials have even been photographed with former NHSA Commissioner Tony Soares. Is that the same as campaigning?
Zimmer 2 ft away from her new friend Adam Alonzo
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154336293341895&set=pcb.10154336293556895&type=3&theater
Pathetic. Also, stupid. The pathetic part doesn't matter to you, so I'll just explain the stupid part.
DeleteRaising the spectre of minor operative Alonzo will only resonate with people who know enough inside baseball to even know who he is. And those people know that you are full of shit and understand the circumstances whereby they show up in the same place (might have something to do with the guy sipping coffee).
The pathetic part is that this is the best you can do. It's as if you are saying, hey everyone vote for Zimmer because I have made it my mission to get Mike Defusco elected and the best I can come up with is a picture of her in a roomful of people, one of whom is a political operative (like you).
You might as well campaign for her.
@ 8: 32 Not a bar : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tlq8kwo0CA&feature=youtu.be
ReplyDeleteI've considered Mike DeFusco's platform and the main reason I've decided not vote for him is because he is supported by Tony Soares (and, I assume, David Liebler). I would have given further, more serious thought to voting for Mike if those two were not involved. And I am not alone.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Mike DeFusco's platform beyond "I wanna be Mayor and my friend Tony told me I'd win if I listened to him because he's infallible in matters of politics."
DeleteIt's hard not to judge Mike by his unsavory associations with people like Soares since there doesn't seem to be much else there except immaturity and ambition.
