UPDATE: Stick campaigns for Column F-- "off the line"

UPDATE: Anthony "Stick" Romano called GA at 3:35 PM.  GA was impressed that Stick didn't try to weasel out of the Column F endorsement letter, or lie ("somebody else did it!") but instead owned it.

He explained at length the long relationship that he had with each Column F committee candidate, and just said, "This isn't politics. It's friendship."  Or, he might have said, "This is friendship. Not politics."  But you get the point.

He also said, "You can give me a hard time about it."  Too late!  I did.

GA hears turnout is low...have you voted today?

Will seeing the sleazy machinations of an anti-Reform candidate (a.k.a. TREACHERY) motivate you?

Here you go!

Freeholder Candidate Anthony 'Stick' Romano has betrayed fellow Column E candidates Phil Murphy and Brian Stack by campaigning for Column F Dem Committee candidates!

Can we refer to him from now on as "Benedict Stick"

Fresh from the dumpster!  Proof of Romano's midnight treachery:

EXHIBIT A

Oh, and GA texted this image to Benedict Stick at 10 AM today, asking "Want to comment?"

Crickets.

Yes, indeed.

Frankly, this adds fuel to the talk that powers-that-be have switched allegiance to Stick Romano.

Why else would he backstab Column E if he weren't trying to impress his anti-Zimmer backers?

Will Stack blow his stack?

Stay tuned...

Postscript:
GA endorses write-in candidate Kurt Gardiner for Freeholder.

  1. Ha! Voted already. Didn't vote for that douche.

  2. Back at ya Benedict Stick. I just voted (write in) Kurt Gardiner for Freeholder!

It's easy. Instead of voting for Stick, move your finger over to the last column (Persoal choice) press in the box, then type in Kurt's name with the keyboard at the bottom, and press the green ENTER button on the keyboard.

    Kurt Gardiner.

  3. The spouse of one of Zimmer's committee people sent out a FB post bashing the crap out of Murphy for buying off the HCDO and states support of Gary Johnson.. Just sayin'

Hoboken is known for HCDO lemmings...

    1. I guess some one's not getting laid this week. But seriously, I don't think a candidate should be accountable for their spouse's opinions. Do you?

    2. Just funny... wonder if both are voting against Murphy! I think the post is rather heroic !

    3. For a political operative you seem awfully confused. Gary Johnson was the libertarian candidate for President. Jim Johnson is running for the Democratic Gubernatorial nomination. Odd mistake for a guy who is infallible about issues of politics.

I wrote Tony Soares in as a write in for governor. Only Tony can save our state and work with Mayor DeFusco to save our City.

Tony and Mike will show those HCDO lemmings a thing or two.

    1. I heard stick was also going to be Phil Murphy's Lieutenant Governor candidate as well as a city council candidate on Karen Nason's ticket.

We'll be able to vote for him 4 times! I can't wait. There's just not enough stick to go around.

  12. If Romano is elected Mayor or something else, what happens to his Freeholder spot? Does he keep both, is there a special election, or is someone appointed Freeholder?

    1. oh what the hell, in that case just give the freeholder spot to tony soares. everyone knows he's the one who really runs hudson county anyway.

  13. Let's be real. Romano is not "owning" his dirty Column F endorsement. He snuck it under people's doors at night and hoped that nobody would publicize it. He's a spineless coward who can't even stand up for his own slate. His Election Day endorsements are "NOT POLITICAL"? He's a liar and a coward. What a joke.

    1. By "own" I mean Stick acknowledged personal responsibility, rather than blaming a surrogate or pretending he didn't know anything about it. I expected the latter. That's all. I didn't give him a pass.

  14. I have a feeling Brian Stack will take notice of Romano's "friendships".

  16. Hi, Nancy - It's PJ Somerville. I may be the "spouse" mentioned in the anon comment of 2:02, as I know of no other. While yes, it's true, I gave a full-throated support for Jim Johnson, I never denigrated Phil Murphy, even as I'm sick of "democratic" politics as they are played in Hudson County. The difference between reform and the old guard??? No one called with veiled threats. No one threatened my / our safety. No one alluded to what could go wrong for us at a local or county level. All of which has happened in the past. Instead, things like the soccer field at 1600 Park went forward, the waterfront walkway got built, and today, despite my willingness to support the anointed one, Allen was elected.

    1. Hi Paul-- Hey, in Donald Trump's America you're almost allowed to express an opinion that differs from your spouse. No 'splainin' necessary!

  17. Congrats to Allen!! And though I supported my democratic committee candidates I didn't support anyone else on the line!!

  18. My wife and I ran for Committee in the Hoboken 1-2 on Column E, and were pretty upset to see Mr. Romano plugging Column F in his letter the day before the election. I was able to prevail regardless - but Romano's tactic may have cost my wife a victory: she came out three votes short. Of course we're happy that the "reform" Committee candidates swept the elections. GA - I have a better copy of the letter in case you want it.
