Taxpayers, which of the following is most egregious:
(1)-- A tax-exempt 501(c)3 that annually hides its gross receipts and expenditures from the public on an IRS 990-N postcard form (instead of filing the 990 long form for charities with annual gross receipts above $50,000).

The Mason Civic League, Inc. has filed e-Postcard returns from 2010-2015 |
(2)-- NJ Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg endorsing this kind of financial reporting by throwing a SuperPAC fundraiser at the 501(c)3 "mailing address." The Mason Civic League office and the community space (1200 Washington Street) is not the registered address of the charity; 921 Hudson Street is.
(3)-- The local press attacking a Hoboken Taxpayer (me) for raising a red flag that the "mailing address"of a local 501(c)3 is hosting a SuperPAC fundraiser! In fact, the hostess, NJ Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, would likely never have known that her fundraiser was being held at the registered address of a 501(c)3 without my post.
Well, which do you think is most egregious?
Eeny meeny miney moe.
Hoboken's local press is completely disingenuous; they know that GA has been reporting about the The Mason Civic League, Inc.'s filing ePostcard IRS returns since 2012 and have chosen not to cover it themselves. (See "House of Cards" published on July 23, 2012.)
Here's what got me started on the Mason Civic League's lack of financial disclosure on their tax returns: the 2012 harassment trial of Mason Civic League, Inc. employee, Matt Calicchio. A second Civic League employee testified for the defendant.
These two individuals testified in open court to being paid employees of the 501(c)3 Mason Civic League, Inc.
Why was a political operative working for Mason's tax-exempt charitable organization?
How many political operatives were working for Mason's 501(c)3, The Mason Civic League, Inc.?
Efforts to find the answer were thwarted upon discovering that Mason Civic League, Inc. filed an IRS 990-N e-Postcard return.
Four years later the tax-exempt The Mason Civic League, Inc. STILL files e-Postcards, while it occupies 2 storefronts on Washington Street, even appears to be expanding it's operations as noted on its new website, masoncivic.org.
The habitual flouting financial reporting rules-- from ELEC to the IRS tax code--is a much bigger story than blogger conspiracy theories.
GA already provided the Hudson Reporter with all of the documents they needed to write this story, but they preferred to write:
Were the "political people" really "puzzled"?
Will they be "puzzled" when they read this?
GA can tell you who is NOT "puzzled- Hoboken Taxpayers.

Is this the same Loretta Weinberg that tried to assist the Masons in shutting down the hospital and sticking the taxpayers with a 52 Million Dollar tab? Is she doesn't care about sticking to the taxpayers of Hoboken for 52 Million, there is no way that she is concerned about a little greasy not for profit tax dodge. Here's some unsolicited advice, Loretta - you are NOT welcome in Hoboken. Stay home.
ReplyDeleteDoes Weinberg know what kind of scum she has gotten into bed with?
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they do more wash at that 501c3 than my laundromat.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if the Civic laundry washed the money for the slapp. Her chief political operative James Barracato is the Treasurer, right?
DeleteGA you've left out so much. Didn't want to tell those "heavy duty statewide people" about the Nazi truck her chief operative paid for (as told to MSV by the driver)?
ReplyDeleteThe Nazi Truck Driver told MSV that Mason Civic employee Matt Calicchio was on the scene with Mason's chief operative when he handed over a bag of cash and swastika video thumb drive. If i recall there was an extra $500 to "keep it quiet." Yeah Mason's operative met the truck driver at the Lincoln Tunnel exit, dark and deserted.
DeleteDo Sweeney and Weinberg have any idea about Mason's Hoboken Nazi Truck (and Slapp suit)legacy? Google it. You take the money, you own it.
As long as Mr. Richard G. Mason keeps writing them hefty checks Sweeney and Weinberg don't give a shit about Mrs. Richard G. Mason's shitty past.
DeleteLoretta Weinberg is 81. It is time for her to go, if she is so gullible as to be taken in by those grifters.
ReplyDeleteWasn't she one of the Bernie Madoff victims? Maybe she can't afford to hang it up. But then again, the Hoboken taxpayers can't afford her kind of butinsky nonsense for 52M large. I say toss her out on her arse.
ReplyDeleteLoWretta needs to go. Double dipping hafg
ReplyDeleteAugie gave bloggers props, Al shit on them. Augie linked the story, Al challenged the "facts" (though all were supported by documents in the story). Augie thought the facts were "interesting", Al called it a Fulop operation. No wonder people read Augie and use Al's column for fish wrap.
ReplyDeletethis is clearly a team mason spin job, using GA to try and lay some sort of blame on fulop. al's either too dumb to realize it or in on the scam. so obvious, such a dumb move. but then, what else do you expect from team mason.
ReplyDeleteYou think you've seen this movie before. You have.
ReplyDeleteHere, watch it again. Not very bright guys indeed.
the hoboken reporter will never cover the mason's sketchy "non-profit" organization. they laid down with the dogs and got fleas a long time ago. it's not like al sullivan has lots of other career options.
ReplyDeleteA check in time keeps the Hoboken Reporter away.
DeleteI voted for Bernie today!
ReplyDeleteWhen are you moving to Venezuela? Please take Lucy and the Mason Uncivic with ya. Please.
DeleteI am not sure who is sleazier for getting into bed with the Masons, Weinberg or Sweeney.
ReplyDeleteMaybe somebody will set up a picket line in front of the event.
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a protest at the actual HQ for the Mason Civic League?
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely like to see that. Sweeney Toad and Weinber the Riddler definitely wouldn't enjoy that.
Apparently lots of republicans comment on this blog. Last I looked Mason was practically a republican and she fits right in with those loons.
