It's UNOFFICIAL! Fulop to endorse Zimmer re-election!

Well folks, it's unofficial.

GA was there last night at Mayor Zimmer's Biergarten fundraiser, and guess WHO from Jersey City was there?

Hint: Mayor Steve Fulop, with his Chief of Staff, Mark Albiez (pronounced: al-beeez.)

That is not all.

Fulop gave a speech which my ears-witnessed as a ringing endorsement of the Zimmer administration and the Mayor herself.  Surprisingly, he acknowledged the lack of factional obstruction in Hoboken government, (presumably) since Reform gained a super-majority on the Council; Fulop noted how much better Hoboken government was working now. While he acknowledged there have been some 'differences' with  Zimmer, the Jersey City mayor gave much greater weight to the commonality of goals between them, praising her initiatives and speaking of their 'partnership.'

According to my ears, this was not the speech of a politician poised to shit-can Hoboken's mayor in the coming election.

No, it sounded like a declaration of solidarity between neighbors.

And look at how Fulop gazed at Zimmer --with googly eyes (look it up.)

Those were my observations last night.

And more...

This morning GA heard from a well-placed Q-Tipster:
Fulop's supporting Dawn for re-election... that's what I heard.
Wow, that's unofficial big  news!  Unofficially speaking.

Well, if that back stabber from the Hoboken Reporter  is reading this, FYI: GA met Steve Fulop for the first time last night.  Get it?  Wash your conspiracy theories out next time you clean your bong.

By the way, Fulop is charming and down-to-earth.  GA enjoyed our chat and I hope to get an opportunity to do so again.

So where does this unofficial news leave Twinkle Toes?

  1. Too funny...Me thinks that's a touch delusional. Saw the pic with major developer Villamar clapping away. Bet you think he'll be supporting Zimmer too...NOT. (although he may attend all of her fund raisers and all of Ramos' fundraisers and all of Mello's fundraisers and all of Bhalla's fundraisers and all of DeFusco's fundraisers and all of Romano's fundraisers. Saw DeFusco just working the room like crazy. A real man with a (bigger) plan there. Heck, Indie goes to all sorts of meets & greets in town, but the only person she supports is herself.

    1. This obsession with taking shots at Indie in comments here and on MSV is a little creepy, time for some people to get a life.

    2. DeFusco is doing a great job and working with everyone. I think all council people should have gone last night.

    3. DeFusco, Fisher, Doyle, Giattino, Mello, Cunningham and Bhalla were all there last night. I don't think anyone expected Russo and Ramos to show up.

    4. Indie wants to be a player but doesn't want to pick a team. So she gets called out, fair and square.

    5. anon@11:45...why does one need to be on "a team"? if you put principles over politics, you don't need to be on "a team". you support issues from the heart, not according to a "team" platform created by the consensus of others. "teams" play a part in what's wrong with the system.

  2. DeFusco was not "working" the very crowded room more than anybody else. I guess that wasn't in the pic you saw. Any other imaginary goings-on you'd like to share?

As for the unofficial news, it's unofficial until it's official. Its not official. Until then, sour grapes make sour whine.

    1. ^^^ Sorry see above. I agree with you GA.

    2. That room wasn't that crowded. It's not like she filled the Kolo Club upstairs. There was mostly politicians and the same folks she had 7 years ago.
$25 tickets and a ton of free ones given out... She filled a room with an occupancy of under 150

    3. Anon 1:46pm. You're full of crap. The place was jam packed-and NOT "mostly politicians"- so many, in fact, folks spilled outside where folks sat at the long tables. Obviously, YOU weren't there, though I saw one Mason spy. I was there.

Why are you throwing shade on a huge success? I hear Beth Mason's Sweeney event was a ghost town. Jealous?

    4. You shouldn't have a comments section if you don't like any comment that isn't supporting your own beliefs, ideas and political leanings.

    5. Anon 5:03- Oh please, I have to "like" every comment, even the disengenious ones like yours? This isn't Facebook. I don't have to like your comments nor do you have to like mine. All opinions are allowed to here, unlike the fascist H411 who moderates comments he disagrees with and bans people who argue with him.

Now, based on your observations I don't believe you were there, which makes you a troll trying to throw shade on a successful event. That is my opinion.

    6. I have to call bull sh*t on Anon 5:03 too, I was at the event any frankly for the first hour or so the rather large room was so crowded that they opened the doors to the patio area so people had more room.

  3. I've met Fulop a few times. Typical used-car salesman IMO. He leaves you feeling charmed yet needing a shower. He'll go far in politics. At least he's smart.

    1. @snoopy, that's 98% of all politicians, though, isn't it? As long as they do a decent job in office, i don't mind the schmooze.

    2. I guess. BUt, I've never felt that way about Mayor Zimmer.

    3. @Snoopy...well, that's because mayor zimmer is part of the 2%. ;)

  4. I heard the same. Fulop is endorsing her. It's mutually beneficial.

    1. When Fulop leaned in to kiss Zimmer on the cheek after taking five minutes introducing her might have been a hint that they just may be on the same side come next November.

    2. Mike Russo kisses her on that same cheek at public events....They're all politicians.

Fulop wants to be Governor MORE than he cares who Hoboken has for a Mayor.

  5. Fulop took a shot at Beth Mason when he said the obstruction of the past is over. Tonight she takes a shot at him- if anyone shows up to her Sweeney bash at the Victorian funeral home.

    1. Anyone who shows up at her place is a POS. Nobody with a shred of integrity should willingly participate in her lame attempts at being "relevant". That just feeds her ego.

  6. Fulop is way to dishonest and sleazy for me.

    2. I know nothing about Sweeney and very little about Fulop. I'm curious why Sweeney is a scumbag?
