Hijinks on the Hoboken School BoE

Hoboken District Trustee Peter Biancamano's campaign account Treasurer is Hola Board Trustee

Why is a Hoboken District Board member's political campaign account managed by an HoLa Board Trustee ("Treasurer") while he is writing/voting on resolutions to benefit HoLa which effectively defund the Hoboken District?

You tell me.

Not only is this unethical, in my opinion, Biancamano deserves to be booted from the Board.

According to the latest ELEC filing, "Biancamano for Council" is active and has a balance:

NJ Department of Education Code of Ethics for School Board Members reads:
18A:12-24.1(f) "I will refuse to surrender my independent judgment to special interest or partisan political groups or to use the schools for personal gain or for the gain of friends."
Should Biancamano be voting on any HoLa district matters?

The NJ-DOE Ethics Rules, appear to say "NO."

It gets worse.

Not only is Biancamano conflicted on voting, it appears he leads political operations against the interest of the Hoboken District  and against his fellow Board members, with political allies Britney Montgomery and John Madigan.

Behold the political stunt Trustees Biancamano, Montgomery and Madigan pulled off  on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.  (Sorry, the video is blurry - GA will do better next time!)

Biancamano's live resolution totally omits the funding "impetus" for the legal action.

Of course, no BoE political operation to serve a Texas idiot's vendetta against "Kids First/Reach Higher" Board members would be complete without a complimentary attack on the Hoboken School District on his shitty "education" blog:

Look... up in the sky, it's not a bird nor a plane...

It isn't Monarch man...

He's here to defund Hoboken classrooms while violating NJ-DOE Ethics Rules...

It's HoLa man!

  1. Peter Biancamano is a stooge and does what he is told to do by the Old Guard.

Always remember that Stick Romano screamed at the Russo political rally THIS IS WAR !

  3. If the issue is with the funding formula with the state, why cant the BOE drop hola from the lawsuit and just sue the state?

    1. My understanding is that the HBoE was legally required to name HoLa. Someone out there please weigh in with the details.

    2. Ruthie explained it at the meeting. Can watch the tape. The legal action was against the State to force them to do their job, which is to do an analysis of the impacts of an expansion on funding, race, socioeconomics and children with special needs. Seems the State made their decision without any analysis. I think it is fair to ask the State to do what they are supposed to do.

  5. Great question! Why is it that a BOE Trustee has an Hola Trustee as a treasurer? How is Biacamano allowed to sit in on closed session meetings about legal issues or vote on anything concerning Hola? Pretty ballsy for him not to disclose this relationship to the public.

    1. What a crock. Knock on hundreds of doors in the Housing Authority. People there thought Hola was a private school. If Hola's so open, why don't they participate in universal enrollment? Their 'weighted' lottery accepts 2 underprivileged kids to the school instead of one. BFD.

    1. I wonder why Elysian and Hoboken Charter still have sibling preference. Do the parents at Elysian and HC fear diversity?

    2. Yes. People like the status quo of their "private" schools"

    3. Sibling preference exists because having young kids in different schools is a PITA for families. It could work in favor of any ethnicity or SES level, because it isn't only upper class white kids who get it. The trouble is that most of the kids who come in are white and upper class. IMO the charters need to do more to entice a more diverse group of children to enter their lotteries in kindergarten. Then those students' siblings will also be assured a spot.

    4. If charter schools consider themselves to be "public" then no one should get preference. Because that adds barriers to admission. They like it this way, because it creates a small private school atmosphere that they can control. They allow out of town residents. The town becomes segregated in many ways

  9. What a dope. He's an embarrassment. They can't possibly believe he actually cares about them or education.

How can anyone trust him? What a sell out. He will do anything for his buddies Petro and Frank, including compromising himself and the public schools. Peter must really think he is special and won't end up being dropped like a hot sack of sh*t like the rest shims when he's not needed anymore. Maybe he thinks he's going to be Mayor someday, like Frank.

  10. Meeting is back on TV. I just saw Brian Murray remind the board members who attended additional training to recuse themselves from voting some 35 cent per mile reimbursement (which they weren't even taking anyway) . I am really curious to see if he is concerned about Pete voting on a live item with NO public discussion and that impacts his campaign treasure. Something tells me not so much.

  11. It's now official: Hoboken is the slime capitol of the world of politics. Where do you get these slimeballs? The North Hudson Sewerage Authority is not doing their job -- there's a lot of feces still out there and running for office.

  12. At the beginning of the meetings, maybe either the Board Pres or legal council can make a statement to all Board Members about the purpose of why they are there. They are there to only discuss the "district" schools and how policies affect the district schools. If they want to be cheerleaders for the charter schools, they can attend their meetings.

    3. Parents need to be notified about the activities of Anthony Petrosino, who masqueraded as a woman online while making perverse and peculiar statements, and allowed a slapp suit to proceed based on his screen names without coming forward. That suggests he was part of the slapp team.
