Election Day Live Blog--
6:38AM - GA arrived at 5:30AM, watched poll workers set up. 6-1, 6-4 and 6-6 are voting here, one machine per district. GA is challenging for 6-6. Voting here is in a gymnasium, it is large and acoustics are horrible. No tables were provided for Challengers except one round and able all the way in the back of the gym. I tried to move the table forward- it was about 25 or 30 feet away from the 6-6 table. GA sat in a chair about 8 feet behind 'my' poll workers' table. Two poll workers from 6-1 got in my grill and told me I was not allowed to sit there. I replied "It is my right as a challenger to sit at a distance where I can hear the voters' name." The poll workers did not back down. Two policemen showed up. I explained the rules- the polling location is supposed to provide a table for challengers within hearing range of the poll workers. The cops were very polite to me and said someone from the County would come to decide. GA is not moving until told so by an authorized Board of Elections official.
No challengers for Garcia are here.
Only 5 voters in 6-6. Come on, people. Get to the polls!
7:10AM- Election official showed up. Asked poll workers where they wanted me to sit. Told me it was "up to the poll workers." Ha ha.
9:40 AM- 6-6 turn out "better than usual" so far: 59 votes. Get thee to the polls.
10:43 AM- ALERT!
This report just in from Ward 5:
"Mike Russo accompanied by Matt Calicchio have been going around to polling places stating the ONLY people they will listen to are from the Board of Elections when a deputy AG is there. To make up for their lack of "deputies" individuals that have the authority of the Superintendent's office behind them are creating chaos by confusing poll workers, which in turn makes it more likely that people who should NOT be voting might actually be able to vote at the machine."
Got it?
Russo and Callicchio are creating chaos as a smokescreen to facilitate voter fraud. Russo, an elected official, is NOT ALLOWED INSIDE ANY POLLING LOXATION WHERE HE IS NOT ON THE BALLOT. Calicchio is not allowed PERIOD to loiter in any polling location. Don't care how cozy Russo is with the HPD- call them and get his ass kicked outside.
12:44 PM- GA just came back from voting! 6-5 had 86 votes. 6-6 has 92 votes. Plenty of Giattino supporters in and around Church Square... some sad sack Garcia supporters, like they have a 6th sense their candidate sucks.
GA heard about Mason's Great Donut Caper... she trespassed into Calabro with Dunkin Donuts contraband when she was politely told to get the fuck out (that's not verbatim). And so, she threw a donut at Jen Giattino on the way out.
1:11 PM- Just in! 4-3 has over 100 provisional ballots... Ruben's workin' it
3:20 PM- 130 voted in 6-6, 146 in 6-4, 64 on 6-1. Reform needs every registered voter to VOTE.
3:37 PM- 6-4 poll workers allowed a challenged voter to vote by machine! 6-4 's challenger tried to get a voter to fill a provisional ballot.. the voter refused.
7:34PM- 6-4: 238, 6-6: 204... wow, these are huge numbers. Please peeps, 24 minutes until polls close.
Carmelo's bullies will try to take by force what they couldn't get through the power of ideas. Way to stand up, GA!
ReplyDeleteIt is time to fire whomever selects those poll workers.
Deletewell that's a 180 from what happens in the first ward at city hall where the poll workers table at times has been right up next to the poll workers table forming an L.
ReplyDeleteI've also had poll workers repeat my name to a challenger who said she "couldn't hear me say my name" (that I whispered on purpose)... which is a major violation.
It's hoboken, rules what rules u tawkin' 'bout? Oh dem rules don't apply to us.
"it's Hoboken... we're different"- Michele Russo
DeleteHeard that a Biancamano soldier was at the Tea Building causing a scene and the police hat to be called in. So much for the illusion that his was not a traditional "Old Guard" campaign
ReplyDeleteHow is this stuff STILL going on with a reform Mayor and a reform majority everywhere? The administration should have compelled the Election Board in Hudson County to make sure these polls were organized months ago.
ReplyDeleteAgree...but while the mayor and reform have made great inroads in Hoboken, it's still a steep uphill climb when it comes to unseating the OG ways on the county level.
DeletePoll workers cannot repeat your name? I had no idea & mine has been repeated numerous times.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are supposed to repeat the voter's name sand ADDRESS so the challenger can hear it. The acoustics here suck, and 3 districts are sharing the space. The challenger has to sit close enough to hear the names and addresses.
DeleteAh ok. I saw Readen Reply's post and thought it wasn't legal. Got it.
DeleteThe statute says "The challenger’s table should be located close
Deleteenough to the district board members’ table so that the challenger can hear the voter’s name when the district board member reads it aloud."
It does NOT say scream my name across the lobby of city hall.
Still makes me feel violated to have a government worker provide my name to someone whose sole purpose is to challenge my right to vote.
Someone should be snapping photographic proof of Russo and Calliccho doing bad things today and broadcast it far and wide on the internets.
ReplyDeleteHead's up to anyone taking a photo of a russo doing questionable things in a voting place: be prepared to be tackled. Just saying'.
DeleteThat would make for another awesome photo opp.
Delete"Smile for the camera, doctor!"
DeleteCalliccho and Gonsalez were outside Wallace polling place this morning (around 815a) with their heads together.
ReplyDeleteCall Dr. Ben Carson pronto; he has experience separating conjoined twins!
DeleteAnd Lobotomies
DeleteSome of the polling stations have cameras, especially the schools. There's your video proof
ReplyDeletePhotography is not permitting at any polling place. And the election worker is supposed to say and repeat the name and address clearly and loudly enough so that challengers can hear.
ReplyDeleteCan she keep on walking out of Hoboken? Just leave town. Don't come back. Nobody likes you.
ReplyDeleteLook Beth Mason is raising her arms and calling back the Nazi Truck
ReplyDeleteBeth, party rules say hand palm must be facing down when you Heil, mein Führer!
ReplyDeleteBeth, never, ever, ever exit that way.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way to make sure the door doesn't hit you in the ass on the way out.
We wouldn't want you suing the city again.
What was the nature of the challenge? Did the challenger fill out the paperwork?
ReplyDeleteWow, Ruben's really getting out the double votes from his voters!
ReplyDeleteOnly in Hoboken and Hudson County.
Does anyone know if any dead Ruben voters have voted more than once?
