Coucilwoman Jen Giattino calls on Assembly Speaker to Suspend Garcia's Postage and Franking Privileges

6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino (left) calls for NJ Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto to suspend lame duck Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia's "postage and franking privileges," Giattino charges"electioneering"

BREAKING... In a letter posted on Friday, October 23, Hoboken's 6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino calls on Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto to suspend 33rd District Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia's postal and franking privileges because he "is using his Assembly stationery and postage for electioneering and campaigning."

Giattino writes, "the 6th Ward comprises less than 4% of the population of the 33rd Legislative District.  No other residents received this correspondence other than Sixth Ward residents."

Here are Giattino's letter and attachments:

IS CARMELO MAKING HIS OWN  'ASSEMBLY'  STATIONERY?

This is a weird one. It was brought to GA's attention that there is a peculiar error in the letterhead on Carmelo's Assembly stationery.  It's the kind of error one might make while "creating" bootleg Assembly stationery-  a mistake in the name of the Committee Garcia serves on.  The name of Garcia's Assembly committee is "Transportation and Independent Authorities."

Carmelo Garcia's letterhead reads "Independence."

It's "Independent" NOT "Independence."

GA seriously doubts this is a printer error, since the print shop works off templates... in which case...  did somebody run out of stationery?

    1. Frankly even a document this flawed is beyond Carmelo Garcia's capability.
It reads like a staffer with a drinking problem wrote it.

  2. Garcia is hiding his campaign finance reports and this is what we're focusing on?

    2. My two cents, Carmelo Garcia couldn't care less about the ELEC laws. If he wins he will find someone to pay the fine for him. If he loses he will claim he is being discriminated against .

    3. When are the next Elec reports due? Isn't it soon?

    4. Garcia didn't file his quarterly or 30 day Elec reports. He's been hiding his financing for months and I haven't seen a letter to the editor nor have I heard this clearly made a campaign issue.

Garcia is as slimy as they come and is very good at wiggling out of issues. On this there is no wiggle, the law says you need to disclose money and he hasn't.

Don't expect garcia to file any elects unless he's sure they won't appear until after the election. He won on this.

  4. here's what I think happened. I think Carmelo ran out of his Assembly stationery and envelopes... he couldn't "make" envelopes but he COULD make the stationery. So he got envelopes from Fiocchi and made the stationary. problem is he delegated it to some stupid ass who got the name of his committee wrong!

  5. The new Politicker article about Hoboken has fallen from poorly researched to just plain amateurish.

"10-seat board"? It's 9 members. And it's a city council, not a "board." By definition a board has a limited mandate and is created through appointment, not by general election.

"Now, her [Zimmer's] endorsement and support of her candidate slate has made it clear that Zimmer is playing politics."

How has that derogatory editorial opinion been made clear? Because you say so? Why don't you just let the OG's paid operatives write the articles for you as opposed to just swallowing their sound bytes hook line and sinker? At least you'd have the right number of members of the city council and not call it a board. Moron.

    1. That new gal sucks. Not entirely her fault, she's young, very green, doesn't seem to know much about NJ politics. And her beat is Hudson County! Oy vey! She's ripe for manipulation.

  6. It would seem to me to border on the criminal (certainly it would be unethical) to create state letterhead and then use the US Postal Service to send out "fake" legislative correspondence only to the residents of the 6th Ward and not the entire district. But then again, nothing should really surprise anyone about Carmelo after the ethnic cleansing stunt.

  7. Look at that Hypocrite Castellano's comment on Carmelo's Facebook page. Apparently she forgets she emailed Finboy confidential documents and how Lane Bajardi sent her emails with resolutions to put into place

"Theresa Castellano This is not one isolated incident, by far. Stan has been dictating to all his wife's followers since she came into office, now we see it in black and white. Just proves what we always knew from the people who were with them and left because of this and many other reasons. How is it that seemingly adults follow orders like scared sheep ?"

    1. Theresa Castellano said she may have been drunk at the time.

Substance abuse problems among the senior population normally remains hidden.

That character flaw has been exacerbated by her very real fear that she will be voted out of office next Tuesday.
