As a 6th Ward resident, the honesty of my Council representative matters most.
So when a GA reader sent me a Hudson Reporter article, about offensive statements made by Mr. Garcia's then-Assembly aide at an April 10, 2014 HHA meeting, this caught my eye:

Was that TRUE?
Was Assembyman Carmelo Garcia really doing a "Numero Uno" or "Numero Dos" when his $10,000 a year Assembly-aide went off on the Jewish people?
GA went back to the transcript of the April 10, 2014 HHA meeting.
On page 131, Ms. Waiters is called to speak.

On page 133, Executive Director Garcia leaves, saying, "I will be right back. Please wait." The recess, until Garcia returns, is recorded as lasting "two minutes."
On page 138, Ms. Waiters begins her tirade about Jews after Director Garcia has returned to the meeting (from the bathroom?)
On page 187, Carmelo Garcia's then-Assembly aide speaks for a second time, again ranting about Jews in the presence of her boss, Carmelo Garcia.
Based on EVIDENCE, Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia was PRESENT during his Assembly aide's tirade(s) about the Jewish people.
And said, and DID nothing.

Carmelo Garcia caught in another lie. Say it isn't so Carmelo who was sitting right there all along as his anti-Semitic crew were hoopin and hollering enjoying every last word of it.
ReplyDeleteOf course Mayor Zimmer hires only Jewish people. Everyone's converted on day one at City Hall including the former Finance Dept. guy who was African American. What a joke Carmelo's spokespeople are!
They are an utte disgrace and Carmelo and his ticket of Old Guard crooks need to be shown the door by Hoboken voters in November.

ReplyDeleteIf memory serves, Carmelo Garcia's Assembly staffer Christopher Campos was said to have wrote an apology letter for Carmelo Garcia's staffer Patricia Waiters anti-Semitic remarks and it was published in the Hoboken Reporter. Subsequently Ms. Waiters denounced the letter Mr. Campos wrote and said she stood by her original comments.
Patricia Waiters was soon no longer part of Assemblyman Garcia's staff.
Shortly after that Assemblyman Garcia presented a Jewish woman in Hoboken with some sort of proclamation.
Many thought the it was done as face saving move precipitated by Brian Stack displeasure at notoriety of the anti-Semitic remarks were getting.
Shortly after that rumors of Stack not wanting Garcia as his candidate for a second term for the Assembly were rampant. At first Carmelo Garcia and his staff vehemently denied the truth of those rumors.
Brian Stack chose a new candidate for the 33 Assembly seat.
Chris Campos can write a letter ? He can barely form a sentence without sounding like street thug..... Campos the scumbag should stay up in Edgewater

Carmelo Garcia ran the HHA into the Ground. His Board of Education record is atrocious mostly showing up late and leaving early. He was basically fired as an assemblyman. The Vision 20/20 dog and pony show was thwarted because of honest, good council people. Hoboken dodged that bullet.
Reuben Ramos is no better. He smiles behind that shit eating grin while spewing nonsense and going along with the master's of evil. As a prior horrible councilman and Assemblyman, Reuben Ramos has already done a huge disSERVICE to the city of Hoboken.
Hoboken should be rid of these charlatans yet they are like gum on a shoe.

DeleteAs is abundantly clear, the Ramos/Garcia trolls are out in force, looking to stir the pot. Their obvious taunts -- "Carmelo doesn't have a chance", etc. -- are made in the same way that children taunt each other on the playground: to get a reaction, so they can watch their opponent get upset, run around, yell and scream in protest. It's appropriate to counteract trolls, but it's wasted energy to engage them. They just want attention.

DeleteWord is that Ruben Ramos is upset that his reputation is being dragged into the gutter by Carmelo Garcia and his crew. Ramos knows he needs the votes Garcia still can muster in the HHA so he keeps his mouth shut and the rest of the ticket he is running on at a distance.

They're not worried here. They are very confident in the fourth ward and they know no one there cares about issues around Hoboken. So whether or not there's Garcia troubles uptown, they know lots of votes for Hruben.

They'll come up with more good stuff, watch and see. It's gossip TV down here. They say he'll be the next mayor but of course Carmelo wouldn't want to hear that.
Watch out for Raia, rumor is they are collecting absentees in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ward and "special messengering" them via mailbox dumps again.

ReplyDeleteDespite her inability to utter a coherent sentence, Waiters' anti-semitism comes through loud and clear. A "loose cannon" as she's been previously called, is a useful tool to people like Garcia, who had one to show up at school board meetings too. Mason has hers as well. When you need the crowd to get whipped into a frenzy, when you need the meeting derailed, when you need your loose cannon to say the most disgusting things, that's when they roll them into action and the criminal on the dais (or in the bathroom) can claim their hands are clean.
ReplyDeleteCarmelo should be and will be toast, Jen just needs to get out there more and introduce herself to the people, rumor has it (around City Hall at least) the Mayor's last minute deal with Raia would have included a last-minute replacement for Jen, that she wanted to bow out, but decided against it. Anyone know if that's true?
