Thanks to Horsey's coverage of today's unfolding election drama, we now know who our candidates for Hoboken's municipal elections are.
First ward: Terry Castellano vs. Michael DeFusco
Second ward: Tiffanie Fisher, Bonnie Murray and Peter Biancamano.
Third ward: Michael Russo vs. Frank "Pupie" Raia
Fourth ward: Timmy Occhipinti vs. Ruben Ramos and Dana Wefer
Fifth ward: Peter Cunningham vs. Eduardo Gonzalez and Melissa Blanco
Sixth Ward: Jen Giattino vs. Carmelo Garcia
GA will have more to say tomorrow, but my initial thought was, "whatever happened to unity?" There are two Dark Side tickets- it's Ramos vs. Raia.
Another thought: "where are the Independents?" No Patty Waiters? No one but a Melissa Blanco?
GA finds the 2nd Ward race one of the more interesting; all candidates are 'newbies' whereas other wards are running an incumbent.
OK folks, that 's it for this evening.
What a witch...
ReplyDeleteTime for Terry Castellano to pack it in.
ReplyDeleteWell there will be 1 SUPER crazy person in the mix
ReplyDeleteThe debates should be comedy gold
Go Tiffanie! Can't imagine anyone voting for Murray, let's hope Pupie doesn't buy too many "campaign workers" in Applied for Biancamano.
ReplyDeleteMelissa Blanco would naturally take votes from Eduardo Gonzalez and make things easier for Cunningham. But here's the question of the day:
ReplyDeleteIs Melissa too brain-dead even for the old guard?
Apart from making libelous remarks on a daily basis, she seems to have a very tenuous grip on reality. That's not hyperbole. For example Melissa says there should be no construction the west side because it is a natural wetland. She says Zimmer can and does buy off multi-zillionaire Frank Raia who has sponsored one anti-reform slate after another. She says razors should not be allowed on sidewalks. (Tell your kids to ride them in the streets.) She opposes ball-playing in parks.
Granted, every vote she gets will be taken from the pool available to Gonzalez. But will she get any?
There seem to be a lot of screws loose in that engine if you know what I mean
DeleteWith Beth Mason gone who will pick up her dog poo ?.
DeleteShe was up at 2 AM last night posting her usual multiple psychotic episodes on Facebook.
No because Edwardo plan to attack Blanco's signatures and push her out of the race.
DeleteCheck out Carmelo Garcia's facebook page. Crazy Brained Dog Poop Monitor is trying to align herself with Memo.
DeleteUhh sorry Melina, that's what Eduardo is for. You aren't wanted by even the criminal syndicate
Well boys and girls sweet Melissa went on Hudson County TV and said as she was walking down the steps of City Hall after filing that she is already willing to drop out so she can focus on what she says are bigger Federal level issues.
DeleteNo, really she did.
Hahaha. I'm sure she is a real wonder on the Federal level. What does she even do for a living?
DeleteThose thinking Bonnie Murray will be judged by her husbands school board and political antics are in for a rude awakening.
ReplyDeleteHe may be the biggest a-hole at BOE meetings and at The Council meetings but...
The Brian Murray in Politics is not the same Brian Murray million dollar listing agent who has a large client base of young professional families all over town.
That's HIM. NOT His Wife.
If we are to judge Bonnie on her husband, are we also to judge Dawn Zimmer on Stan? Stan who is not very popular, known to be very involved in day to day administration policy, drafting ordinances, reviewing PR releases and calling into city hall from his cell phone overheard countless times on the street telling Zimmer "Here's what you need to say ", "tell them this...", "Bernie Kenny said..."...
If Brian will be as involved in his wife's career as much as Stan is, then yes, judge her by that, but judging Bonnie by her husband is sexist at best.
If Doyle's Wife, Zimmers Husband and Cunninghams wife "are their own individual person" and shouldn't be how we measure the council person or mayor, than the same goes for the Murray's
the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Deletelooking forward to that bathtub photo on her campaign literature, LOL!
Because yes, we need more real estate agents on the city council.
DeleteDon's attack Jen Giattino, she's an ethical real estate agent and she keeps her job separate from council duties.
DeleteLike it or not a public a figure is partially judged by their spouse.
DeleteUnfortunately for Bonnie Murray her spouse provides voters with a very good reason to not vote for her.
He is not an a-hole. He is a douche. There is a huge difference. IMHO of course, it is more purposeful poison then caring bafoonary. Carmelo, Petro and Ramos wound him up and he genuiely seems to enjoy his role. He can turn it on and off at will. He is unelectable and he knows it so his wife steps in?
DeleteKinda like how Stan was unelectable and knew it, so HIS wife stepped in....don't think reform wants to start pulling out the Brian card, no matter how tempting....there are too many "spouse" issues on reform side and not just the Stan is the real Mayor, but there's also the 'can't keep a lid on it' wife of Cunningham. If I had to judge Cunningham by his wife, he would not get my vote.
DeleteI totally agree with anon 8:11 and 10:22. You should never judge a candidate by their spouse any more than you should judge a kumquat by its size. Small kumquats are just as likely (or unlikely) to be vile and foul tasting as the larger ones, Each kumquat, large or small, should be judged on its own merits
DeleteEasy enough to judge her negatively based on her last campaign, her complete silence on most matters in Hoboken, her political affiliations and so forth. On all measures she shows how woefully inadequate she is. Her husband is just a rancid cherry on top of a pile of garbage pretending to be a hot fudge sundae. But that is just my opinion.
DeleteBy the way, if she does not want to be judged based on her husband, she should not use the term "we" or "Murray family" when thanking her supporters. Such terminology completely links her with her husband and she is the one speaking in such terms.
Anon @ 11:22 has a size kumquat fetish. I doubt blame the kumquat - they don't have brains so they rely on the farmer that created them.
DeletePoliticians also often rely on the farmer that created them, the VBM farmer
Jen is a lock in the 6th and Dana will take the 4th. 5th ward is probably the trickiest- reform needs to work hard. And as far as the 3rd goes, who would really notice a difference between Pupie and Russo? I would like to see Terry remain in the 1st, just to watch her suffer through her insignificance when it comes to votes!
ReplyDeleteOh so we can all go home? Stupid to run around saying that. Dana is a long shot. Jen is probably going to win, but if residents stay home the mobsters will win.
DeleteNot to mention that nobody with an actual sincere interest in good government would want to see Terry remain.
DeleteOf course if you actually wanted the Carmelo ticket to win you might want reform to be complacent in the 4th and 6th and to ignore the 1st and 3rd.
Though I'm sure that such anon 11:17 has no such agenda which would be two clever by half.
Overconfidence can be/is fatal. Everyone needs to work like they are an underdog. Everyone. Until the polls close.
Deletethe "reform is a lock" meme is obviously just a lot of OG BS. no one who's really part of reform thinks any of those races are easy, it's just boilerplate old-school OG spin to TRY and make reform complacent. no one is buying it, spin fail.
Deletewow, the seven of you are really all over the conspiracy theory.
DeleteThere's another conspiracy theory about people who say only 7 people read the blogs. See if you can guess what it is.
DeleteI love conspiracy theories.
DeleteLast week there had to be a deal because Russo was running unopposed. This week there had to be a deal because Russo now is facing Raia.
Can't wait for next week.
Tiffanie takes the 2nd
ReplyDeleteSpouses are only a factor when the spouse inserts his or herself and makes themselves a factor.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the spouse doesn't draft ordinances ( or tell everyone he or she did )
As long as the spouse doesn't meet with commissioners, interview running mates or send out emails to council members with messages signed by the spouse.
As long as council members or members who want to participate don't have to meet the spouse in midtown Manhattan for an interview, meet at their office, go to lunch or have to pass an interview by the spouse it's all good.
Like a kumquat, without the farmer planting, feeding, fertilizing and watering the kumquat it would still be a little seed sitting in a bag somewhere.
It sounds like you're really in the know about the nefarious spouse thing. Not many folks would be privy to council members e-mails, especially those special ones signed by one spouse yet written by the other. They probably showed it to you because of your special expertise in identifying e-mail authorship. That's no small skill to have!
DeleteWere you ever summoned to a mid town Manhattan spousal interview? How were you summoned? Did you go? If so did you record it like Carmelo did or was Carmelo the only one smart enough to do that so he could expose the whole nefarious spouse thing once and for all.
I know many people on this board don't like Carmelo but it sounds like you and he have found much common ground.
Did Ricky do the email thing for Beth?
DeleteLike it or not Bonnie Murray has her hubby Brian and his crew hanging around her neck like an albatross.
DeleteI'm really intrigued to see how Melissa Blanco does. I always wondered if an election could be won solely on PSYCHOTIC Facebook comments in both content, time of posting and volume.
