HOBOKEN – No love in Hoboken, where a 1010 WINS news anchor and his freelance journalist wife need to cough up $225,000 in a defamation suit that went very bad, the NY Post reports. Lane Bajardi and his wife, freelance broadcast journalist Kim Cardinal, were hit with the penalty yesterday, after a judge chastised them for “suing first and thinking later.” The news couple sued two local bloggers for defamation, but could not prove any damage to their reputation or livelihood. Throughout the case, the couple stretched the truth with their own lawyers and the court, the judge wrote, adding, “Plaintiffs’ conduct throughout this case at a minimum demonstrates bad faith, and approaches a fraud upon the Court.”

    1. Still telling that fairy tale about Kim being a freelance journalist. Unless a story unfolds at a buffet table she's not going to get the story. They just can't stop lying.

  2. OUCH !

Stretching the truth is not a good thing for a news anchor, just ask Brian Williams .

  3. No real lawyer will touch this case after their Lawyers were all sanctioned. Who would take their appeal? Good Luck KIM

  4. Nancy and Roman, if you need an exterminator for Lane and Kim's Cobdo, once you are the new owners, I know some good ones.
If you need an Exorcist, I have that too

  5. Their lawyers could have discerned the truth by doing some basic due diligence and using a little basic common sense. How the hell do you think those of us that many many years ago supported Beth Mason changed our minds? We thought for ourselves and refused to swallow the crap coming from the flapping gums of her political operatives.

  6. Looks like the Axis of Evil got a little too SLAPP happy. Well, WAY too SLAPP happy. Poor vertically challenged dopes (that is an opinion). Couldn't happen to a nicer couple, nor could there be a better reason to boycott 1010 WINS for their hiring practices.
Let's lose 1010 WINS until they get a better grip )(n my opinion) on supporting freedom of speech! There's enough even-minded radio stations to listen to without supporting the likes of these two! What ARE they thinking?!?

  7. It's catching fire! Read it hear and comment, let's spears the word on this jerk's attempt to stifle free speech and expose a newsman who is still allowed to posses journalist credentials

  9. Share. I am sure many of the readers have contacts in the media, sharing this story and the court papers with them would help make sure others will think twice about launching a SLAPP suit.
