Eyes on the 2nd Ward

Well folks, there's nothing much going on in our election politics, unless you're watching the 2nd Ward.

According to one source:
Everybody is on hold until she [Beth Mason] makes up her mind... Beth is stalling to make other people wait... people who won't jump into the race until she's out of it... that makes them less likely to win... delays ability to campaign and get name recognition... if she gives it too soon and decides that she's not going to run.. the only power she has now is if they think she's going to run. Biancamano has Pupie behind him so he's running whether or not Beth gets in. Beth is delaying on purpose to screw  other people. She's flexing her muscle.
Interesting!

Today Horsey reported that Beth Mason "paid a bevy of kids to lurk outside Kings Supermarket to collect petitions for her re-election."

Mind you, petitions require 100 signatures; as of today, Mason has 55 days left to collect them (on or before August 31).  That is 1.81 signatures/day.   Even Pol Pot could've done that.  In short, this petition drive is no more than Mason's foot-stomping temper tantrum to former allies who spurned her on the Democratic Committee: "I will run if you make me!

To no effect, it seems.

Mason or no Mason, sources say Peter Biancamano is running.

And 2nd Ward resident Bonnie Murray sounded very much like a candidate in her June 28 letter published in The Hoboken Reporter:
After conversations I had with Officer David Montanez of the Hoboken Police Department, he quickly shared this with his team and quickly evaluated the corners. The result was the technology needed to be fixed and for that I want to thank him as well as all who impacted this change at the Hoboken Police Department.

I also requested crossing guards be placed at these same corners. We have so many pedestrians and kids who cross these corners whether it's kids coming home from school; or visiting our great parks down near the waterfront. Given how busy the intersection is, it is a location where sometimes adults and kids crossing by themselves might need assistance crossing. I am happy to see that my request was granted..
In an interesting side note, Murray's letter really infuriated longtime 2nd Ward resident, community  activist and beloved crossing guard, Margaret O'Brien.   O'Brien commented below...

...and continued to rail about it on Facebook.

Yep, it is election time.  (Personally, I would suggest an apology to Margaret, who has been advocating for her ward for many years.)

Others rumored to be mulling over a 2nd Ward run: Franz Paetzold and David Liebler.

So, Mason's delaying game and petition drive have not made a ripple in 2nd Ward waters.  But outside her ward, political enemies- those whom she and her soggy tuna have betrayed- may be watching.

In fact, GA speculates some outside of Hoboken would really like to see her run.

  1. Peter, Pupie's personal mutz puller is also going to be in the running in the Second.

  2. i'm confused about why it matters if beth makes her decision now or later. is the implication that other people would jump in now if she bailed but won't run at all if she does? i guess i just figured she's toast if she runs and no one would be intimidated by someone with as much negative baggage as beth has this time around.

also, where is the reform candidate in the 2nd? this post mentions the usual OG/bad actor characters. obviously, liebler and biancamano are out of the question, do you mean to tell me franz is the least-bad option? there's gotta be at least one normal, smart resident in the 2nd who wants to do the right thing for their ward. christ, a ham sandwich could do more for the ward than mason's done.

Keep you eyes peeled for a lumbering war horse. I hear there's going to be something afoot. And soon.

    2. True, Anon @ 5:07pm.

Reform will have a candidate. Not a big dope that reads from a script written by consultants and/or political operatives, either. When he/she on the Reform side wishes to make that public, you will read about it here and over at my four-legged pal's barn, among other places.

    1. If she's running it's only as spoiler for Peter. hubby is tight with Ruben. Recall Peter ran on Tims ticket and Ruben thinks Tim & Co stopped him from winning in 2013. These people hate each other more than they hate Zimmer.

    4. Ricky may or may not be be tight with Ruben, but Beth gets half of everything he has got, so when she say jump he says: Yes dear, how high ?

  4. There isn't a single person mentioned up above I would trust. I'd vote for a random homeless person before any of the above mentioned possible candidates. That is how bad they all suck.

  5. My client is the straw that stirs the drink. You're all obsessed with her - just like the Washington Post was obsessed with Nixon!

Hah, I laugh at your jealousitude.

  6. David Liebler? he lives in the Hudson Tea Building and I honestly don't think one person from that building would vote for him after those stupid cartoons he did...

    1. If Liebler runs, he'll just do the usual OG routine: make believe like all the scummy things you did in the past never happened and talk about how you're going to (somehow) end the parking and flooding problem, (somehow) help local businesses, clean the "filthy streets", and oh yeah also (somehow) reduce property taxes. You know, the typical pie-in-the-sky no-details BS.

That being said, those disgusting cartoon attacks Libeler helped create will come back to haunt him, causing any normal people to shun him as a candidate.
