HR publishes "Enemies List" of Public School "Sympathizers"

Birds of a feather.

Folks, its 1954 all over again.

The tabloid that banned the name "Jen Giattino" from this week's Hoboken edition, has published the names of private citizens who've donated to the Hoboken Public School's Legal fund.

GA will explain why.   Remember these quotes from the April 14, 2015 BoE meeting?
I cannot wait to get the list of the folks that are funding this ridiculous legal action."
The Hoboken Reporter, fresh off banning "Moms make lunch for the homeless" featuring 6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino ...

Story about Hoboken Moms
...is outing  parents of public school students, so their Dark Side allies can keep their hands clean when these mothers and fathers are attacked in public venues and online.

GA knows the game.

Hoboken411 is dead, long live The Hoboken Reporter, where the Dark Side launders the "news."

This is nothing new, of course.  The paper's pillow talk with 2nd Ward Councilwoman Beth Mason and political operative  James Barracato is not a matter of speculation, thanks to many exhibits produced by Lane Bajardi and Kim Cardinal Bajardi  in Bajardi v Pincus.

GA has digitized the name of the reporter, then employed by Publisher Dave Unger.

Isn't that charming?

Back to 2015: publishing the names of PRIVATE CITIZENS is an EDITORIAL decision.

Note, the cowardly editor at The Hoboken Reporter left the name off the byline:

Let there be no mistake: all donors are named on the BoE agenda; all donors are public record.  It is fair to publish the names of public officials, but...

WHY PUBLISH THE NAMES OF PRIVATE DONORS IN A NEWSPAPER?

The Hoboken Reporter is doing the laundry for the Dark Side. So Dark Side politicos have 'clean hands' if and when private citizens are BULLIED by others, or anonymous screen names online.

Like Curious Gal and prosbus, a.k.a. Anthony Petrosino.

The Hoboken Reporter quoted the crapademic blog of Anthony Petrosino this week, but... did they mention his hundreds of "Curious Gal" and "prosbus" posts attacking Mayor Zimmer and other members of Reform?

When does HoLa take a stand against this schmuck*? (*GA's non-actionable opinion based on documentary evidence he's a schmuck).

Typical Petrosino Crapademic CRAPOLA on his crappy blog

  1. ....and this story will never appear on MSV. Wish we could get some sort of totally unbiased bona fide news in this damn town. We either get the skewed Hoboken Reporter or blogs that have a narrow focus.

    1. wha? why does it have to appear on MSV? why does he have to cover everything, and to your liking? you call it "narrow focus", i call it specialization.

as has been said a million times before, if you have a problem with how the media and local blogs cover the news, then start up your own blog and "do it right". oh, that's right, that would be some work for you. how silly of me.

    2. I agree about the wanting a bona fide, unbiased Fourth Estate in Hoboken.

About MSV- IMO, it takes major chutzpah to criticize citizen journalist Brice- who is facing yet more litigation for doing what he does: (trial this month against Beth Mason) barely-paid work covering "narrow focus" like election fraud, the HHA, Vision2020, the HUMC sale, political smear tactics of Beth Mason among many others. Horsey successfully fought a SLAPP for 2 1./2 years to write the things he wants to write.

Citizen journalism is something any one can do. If you want other issues covered, by all means start writing. We all started that way.

Why does MSV have to cover this story which is already covered in different places?

Looks like Horsey just broke another story? What another breaking exclusive isn't good enough for you? LOL

  2. The BoE agenda came online at the SAME time this list was published. It could only mean one thing- it got leaked.

    WHO would do that?

IMO who else but Peter Biancamano.

  3. Its obvious the paper wants to rehabilitate the reputation of she-man curious gal-prosbus Petrosino, so they can publish quotes and bar graphs from his political blog to help Biancamano.

    1. That story that was posted by the reporter was most likely written before the names became public. From my experience, stories don't get written, edited and posted online that quickly. But let's ignore the 2 ton elephant in the room so you can pretend those names were publicly available WHEN THE STORY WAS WRITTEN.

    2. I know that- I stated it above. But let's not be disingenuous- did The Hoboken Reporter publish any other donors/donations to the district on this BoE agenda? What is the relevance of publishing the names of private citizens in the NEWSPAPER other than to disseminate them for use by nasty political operatives? Does HoLa publish the names of it's donors in the NEWSPAPER?

PUH-leaze. This is about politics. Sleazy politics.

  6. Donations to public entities are never private

  7. This is not just about privacy. Obviously, this is donations to a public entity are of public record. However, this public information is going to be used against people for political agendas for the purpose of intimidation and to silence free speech. They're pitting people against each other by revealing names. Just because it's public record, doesn't make it right.

    1. Donanting to Republicans can be used against one Donations to gems can be as well. Donating to private clubs and religious institutions are not public.
It's not like these contributors aren't publicly stating their verbal and written support. I think Murray is an ass, and the way he is threatened was disgusting. But Parents are passionate on both sides.
How is Hola! any worse that Hoboken Charter whose High School is almost 100% kids from Jersey City and occupies/occupied space in public school property?

    2. Gems? I think you mean Dems....

    3. Those schools applied for k-12 and k-8 in their original application. They did not seek to expand nearly every year they were in operation. The charter school allocation went from 4 million to nearly 9 million since Hola opened. Hola is the largest charter school in the city. Resources are scarce and funding and the funding formula is a major issue.

    6. Private funding for a public lawsuit where one school sues another is very unusual and is newsworthy. There is nothing in OPRA that would make these donation non-public so anyone is free to ask for them and publish them as they please.

  8. Great point, Anon @ 2:55 pm. If donors' names were leaked to the press BEFORE they became public, that would be an ethical violation of the Board Trustee leaker.

It appears they WERE leaked. What kind of two-faced, unethical Board member would betray the parents of his district?

Wasn't Peter Biancamano charged with ethical violations for publishing lies about the public school budget on his 2013 campaign mailers?

  10. Nothing wrong with specialization and agree that it takes chutzpah to have a blog about anything. No problem at all with this blog covering whatever it wants to and not other things. I think I'm just getting tired of all the comments on the Horse blog complaining that the Hoboken Reporter doesn't cover what they want it to or think it should. I realize that the Hoboken Reporter has a responsibility (ha-ha) to cover a full range of topics that it doesn't, but I don't think it should be focused on a specific agenda in the same way that the blogs might be. (and yes, I know that it seems to have its own not so veiled agenda but I do read it with the required grain of salt.

    1. The Hoboken Reporter didn't cover a story about a Hoboken councilwoman bringing meals to the Hoboken homeless shelter. A story that came about because the Hoboken Reporter published an editorial position challenging the councilwoman's concern for the less fortunate.

Haven't really heard from you on that one. It transcends differences on editorial choices. Rather the Reporter showed itself to be a straight-up political tool. You may be tired of hearing about it. You certainly picked an odd time to announce it. Because I would characterize the missing Giattino article as the Reporter hitting bottom, and the time when brickbats are bound to be flying in their direction.

Also, why are you complaining about it here? Are you constrained from posting on MSV?

      Delete
    2. I would settle for it being focused on an agenda that isn't blatantly anti-reform. Because right now that is the agenda the Hoboken Distorter promotes with every fiber of its being.

    3. So let me get this right. You came here to comment on Grafix Avenger to complain about your unhappiness with commenters on Horsey's MSV website?

The commenters on MSV are pretty astute while your comment here is plainly dumb. The recent story wasn't complaining about the Hudson Distorter's story selection; it ripped it for being (intentionally) wrong as a celebration of Old Guard conspiracies put into print.

That story also linked to the devastating story broken by GA on Jen Giattino's feature being hidden from Hoboken readers.

If you want to complain, can you at least try to a bare minimum of coherence? I'm sure the employees of the Hudson Reporter will appreciate it.

  11. The real story and the one the Reporter won't cover is how HoLa got the lease on the Boys and Girls Club and why? Who established the rent? What was the motivation in displacing the minority youths from this facility? How did Raia get the contract for the construction? Who were the other bidders? Who reviewed the bids and awarded the contract?

  12. The charters should make their detailed budgets public, just as the district schools do. There's a lot of people that don't realize it's 4 separate publicly funded schools with duplication in services.

  13. When you look at the people on the HoLa payroll this sort of intimidation tactic seems like it is a mob operation rather than a charter school.

  16. I find Mr. Gold the most impressive because he doesn't have any stake in this except seeing things get better. As for the comment above I don't think it has to do with the less fortunate at all I think they want more choices for their children and dont' want them blocked but I think the problem as we know is the funding and funding formula and the fact that you can't allow charters to grow so much that they siphon from others. until the state fixes it we are left to fight tooth and nail.
