Earwitness Rumor: The Ruben Slate

Folks, the coming election cycle could get interesting.

If this Earwitness rumor is true, former Assemblyman Ruben Ramos will be running a full slate of ward candidates to: (1) avenge his loss of the mayoral race in 2013, and (2) trounce Reform incumbents for control of the City Council.

It's no secret that Ramos blames Tim Occhipinti's "One Hoboken" ticket for blowing his mayoral dreams.  He does believe but not for Tim's late arrival in the race, he would be Hoboken mayor.  Hence, my Earwitness says the Ramos slate plans to 'take out' Timmy Occhipinti  (4th Ward) and  Peter Biancamano  (2nd Ward).

Who would Ramos run against Biancamano?

An Earwitness tells GA that Brian Murray's wife may run in the 2nd Ward.   Is it true?  Ramos pal Carmelo Garcia, is rumored to be taking on popular 6th Ward incumbent Jen Giattino. What a coincidence!  Reports that a nasty whisper campaign is being run against Giattino in 6th Ward Applied Housing.  How nasty?  Oh, that Giattino wants to boot out long-term residents.

It gets more interesting.

Timmy could have stopped flooding.  FOR REAL!
According to Al Sullivan, both Ramos and Garcia are sucking up to Beth Mason, supporting her for Chair of the Hoboken Democratic Committee. One reason Ramos doesn't support Jamie Cryan to keep his chair?  Take a look:

Cryan was campaign manager for Timmy's One Hoboken.

It makes sense that Ramos would oppose Cryan but... why back Beth Mason?  Here are 20,000 reasons why Ramos should blame Mason  for his 2013 election defeat:

It could only be the big bags of money that Mason always brings to the table.

In that case, if Mason is making deals with Ramos, what's in it for her?

So... if this "Ruben slate" rumor is true, grab your popcorn.

  1. Would Beth screw over Timmy after all their history together ?

  2. Ruben Ramos has gone out of his way to keep his friendship with Carmelo Garcia on the down low knowing that dirt that has covered Garcia for the last year will hurt his reputation if he wants to run for anything more than being the Fourth Ward HHA. representative.

  3. This scheme has fin prints all over it. Finboy needs somewhere to land now that he killed off Mason's political career. If he gets her money to Ramos and Russo campaigns his future employment opportunities look a lot brighter. Why anyone would ever work with that backstabbing moron is anyone's guess.

  4. Wait a minute, didn't Mason and Raia fund the Timmy for Mayor joke...I mean, campaign? Is Ruben so desperate that he'd now support/suck up to Beth even though he blames Mason-backed Timmy for screwing his last bid for mayor?

Holy cow, these hacks will jump into bed with anyone, apparently no one cares about having any sense of character and morals.

  6. Russo is the real power behind Ramos supporting Beth Mason for Dem chair. He can't endorse her openly because it'll piss off Fulop who hates her guts. Russo wants Beth's money like everybody else.

    1. It doesn't matter what Russo endorses. It matters who he, Terry and the Russo clan give the Democratic committee votes to for chair?

Of course Mikie wants the loot. When hasn't he?

This rumored dream team would make his old team look good.

  10. One gets the sense there would be significant patronage and cronyism if Ramos was ever elected mayor. This town can't go back to the ways of the Russos.

  11. I am hearing that all the developers in town are pissed at what's going on at zoning. The new board members are causing companies and individuals lots of money with these past denials , Zimmer and Ann better get things together or we will see new members win and take control. This is what I am hearing?

    1. Who cares if developers "are pissed"? I don't. If they don't want it to cost themselves "lots of money", they could either a) propose plans that are more reasonable or b) go build somewhere else. There's huge demand for Hoboken, no need for the town to bend to anyone's arm twisting. I don't get why we should be dictated to by developers.

    2. I have no problem with the Hoboken Zoning Board following the rules.

They are responsible for maintaining the character of Hoboken that has made its so desirable and not to make developers and real-estate salespeople happy by handing out variances that increase their profits but chips away at what makes Hoboken Hoboken.

      Delete
    3. I agree 100% with anon 8:32. No way should we bend for developers. Have we not learned from the past? Let the developers start GIVING to Hoboken and making good on contracts. Where is our pool? Where are the tennis courts?

Stop the bullshit and get something out of the developers. Like anon said, there is a huge demand for Hoboken. Work with the town or get the f lost.

    4. WITHOUT DEVELOPERS RUNNING THE MARKET YOU PEOPLE WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE.
Thanks to your board a LOT was 1,100,000 but since these past denials property are worth shit 700k if your lucky, now your home value will drop as well. Jersey City/ Union City are on fire since their boards are passing everything that comes in without a 8 month delay.

      Delete
    5. A 9:40 - You should pack up and invest in Jersey City and or Union City.

Hoboken is doing just fine and can do with one less whiny jerk.

      Delete
    6. Hey 1051
Not whiny? Just smart, you bought from one of us BNR that owned the land for pennies. What you don't understand is the developer always got the upper hand and can make or break an area. There will be new member soon that will change the way. That is fact Zimmer was lucky Timmy boy screwed everything up.

      Delete
    7. Oh yes, let's all admire the wonderful job developers have done to Newport and are doing to downtown JC. Nothing like a characterless, tasteless hodgepodge of of glass towers crammed into every corner of a non-neighborhood.

There is nothing developers can do to "break" Hoboken...except overdevelop it.

    8. Your right 8:11 I road my bike down 14th and Grand the other day how did that developer get all those approvals. That entire block has been revitalized for the worst.

  14. Let's not forget that Ruben Ramos had his chance on the council. WHAT DID HE DO? Did he propose any resolutions on his own? Come up with any ideas on zoning restrictions? Parks? Quality of living ideas? Does he have an original idea between those two big ears? What I saw was a yes man who voted with hopes of a payback. HIs friends and cronies speak volumes about who this person is and what he is capable of doing and not doing.

  15. Where did Murray place in the board of education election? Did Biancamano's "vote by mail" bump push Murray out of a board seat? And if Murray supported Ramos you can add that to the list of reasons for a grudge match in the 2nd ward.

    1. Nope, without Biancamano's VBM landslide, he beats Antonio Gray by 2 votes for 3rd place. I adjusted a Petrosino Crapademic graph to include VBM impact:

so who is everyone voting for (besides annette)?

Anon @ 10:31 AM- yes, indeed. Same Melissa Blanco- who has been a prolific commenter on Hoboken411.

      democratic B: abernathy, cohen
      republican A: simulcik, sosa, sutherland

Can you think of anyone worse? I'll write their names in.

    4. One man and one woman per district (40 districts). So 80 seats to fill, most unopposed.
