Dr. Petrosino's Propaganda Project

Why would someone with real academic credentials undermine his credibility with a transparently political blog, festoon it with easily debunked, cartoon-like graphs and crudely redacted letters?

Meet crapademic Anthony Petrosino. His latest excretion is "Hoboken Public Schools Score 45% on QSAC DPR in Instruction and Program....4th Consecutive Year of Failing Scores During Kids First Era."

Why does GA call Dr. Petrosino's May 11, 2015 blog post an  "excretion"?

For one thing, he writes: "Under the political group known as Kids First and their Board of Education majority leadership...the score in Instruction and Program have fallen dramatically."

Um, no....

Last night Interim Superintendent Brockel announced the district's new QSAC scores, and the score for the DPR Area "Instruction and Programing" was 75%.

That's right. 75% not 45%.

Hey, crapademic Petrosino was only off by 30 points. There's more; refer to Exhibits 1 through 4 below.

EXHIBIT NO. 1

EXHIBIT NO. 1- PETROSINO/RASLOWSKY PERFORMED MISERABLY WHEN THEY RAN THE DISTRICT

EXHIBIT NO. 2

Petrosino produces a letter from the NJDOE dated July 16, 2014, with the district's QSAC scores. Oddly, Petrosino redacts 4 out of 5 scores. WHY?

EXHIBIT NO. 2- PETROSINO REDACTS DATA TO COOK A RESULT

EXHIBIT NO. 3

The 45% score cited in June 2014 was an outlier.  The NJDOE 2013-2014 QSAC scores for the Hoboken district in the DPR Area of  Instruction and Program was 69% (not 45%)

 EXHIBIT NO. 4

Here is the Petrosino crapademic graph corrected by GA. The outlier was removed; replaced by NJDOE QSACs for the 2013-2014, showing a 69% score for "Instruction and Program."

 Lesson over, boys and girls.

  1. What a douche bag.

  2. Since he lives in Texas, why would he be writing about Hoboken's schools at all?

  3. This guy has something in common with Lane Bajardi. He has a good job that he puts at risk with douche bag behavior. Two douche bags.

  4. Oh man. The district scored 34% when Petrosino was running it... now its 75%! That's progress. The douche needs to redact high scores because they PROVE Kids First is making our district better all the time.

  5. I keep reading his name here and can't figure out his reasoning either. How does he benefit? Is that a dumb question? With others I have a few guesses but what is his dog in this fight?

      that *might* explain it...

    2. In a nutshell, Dr. Petrosino was hired to assist Supt. Jack Raslowsky because Raslowsky didn't have the proper credentials required for the job. Petrosino was his childhood buddy. Petrosino was teaching a class in Austin while he worked allegedly fulltime in Hoboken. He collected two paychecks, a double dipping double dipper, two scoops of vanilla with extra nuts. Petrosino 's contract was not renewed by the Kids First majority in 2009. He sued the BoE, lost, and was ordered to refund overpayment to the district. After that, he turned his curriculum blog into a kids first hate-fest. His articles have gotten progressively nuttier and angrier... it appears he's doing this for Peter Biancamano who is not the shoo-in his people would like us to believe.

    3. Raslowsky is now at Xavier High School where their press release in '09 refers to how he dramatically improved Hoboken's schools: http://www.slideshare.net/kgardiner67/xavier-hs-announces-new-president-jack-raslowsky

  6. Not a dumb question at all. I think it's personal. There's enormous hostility driving this, IMO.

  7. Dr. Anthony Petrosino got his shorts in a twist when the new BoE administration no longer appreciated his services after discovering he was warming a chair at the University of Texas instead of working as an assistant to the superintendent in Hoboken. Obviously, the board determined it wasn't in the children's best interest to shell out over $140K a year to a no-show employee and terminated his contract. He got all butthurt and sued them. HBoE countered and won. Too bad he had to pay $$ back. It's very personal for him.

  8. It seems pretty personal from all sides and unfortunately its Hoboken's children - both those attending traditional public schools and those attending Hoboken's public charter schools who are getting caught in the crossfire.

    1. perhaps charter parents should have thought of "the children" when they decided to stick taxpayers for their kids' private school education. oops! we're not allowed to say that, right?!

    2. Why aren't we allowed to say it? One of the founders of HoLa effectively said it when she was demanding HoLa get approval. She was very upset she would have to put down a deposit on private school if HoLa wasn't approved in time.

I mean seriously, how else should we interpret the following statements from this person who helped found the school? "The private school my daughter attends needs to know in early February whether she will be returning in September 2009 for first grade. What am I supposed to tell them?

By the way, they want me to give them $1,000 if I want them to hold her spot. Several weeks after that, I have to commit to a full-year’s tuition. What am I supposed to do?"

    3. It was HoLa's sneaky expansion, with NJ DOE collusion, to sixth grade and now the unwarranted and inappropriate expansion to 7-8 that created the crossfire. Hoboken's children are being used to defund the district. HoLa is playing games. The original K-5 application was supposed to have been the extent of the program.

You say it's personal from both sides but I've yet to hear of a district parent or district Board member relishing intimidating an HoLa parent or threatening an HoLa Board member.

    4. Considering the completely unethical manner in which this entire school was set up and operated, do you expect them to every do anything on the straight and narrow? I don't.

  9. If Dr Anthony Petrosino ever grows an honest bone (which does not appear likely at this point) he should research the power of tribalism to trump all other considerations.

Here, he has gone to university, earned a doctorate, become a tenured professor at an important university. And all he wants to do is engage in endless easily debunked sophistry on behalf of the old guard. Why'd he bother with the rest of his career - he could been stuffing flyers about rich yuppies turning the projects into condos and been just as useful to the community.

  10. If the expansion stays, where will the Hola kids go after 8th grade? Will there be a sudden need to expand to the high school level?
