The $160,000 Myramid: Mason & Raia's rumored investment in One Hoboken |
Oh, my! Ready for some serious dish?
Sources tell GA that the plot to sabotage Tim's campaign was hatched by Ruben's strategist, Paul Swibinski of Vision Media Marketing, and that Beth Mason operative 'Finboy' Barracato, was Swibinski's 'eyes and ears' inside the One Hoboken campaign.
GA is told that allegedly, the fishy Mason operative helped Swibinski without Beth's knowledge, double-crossing her as she poured money into One Hoboken.
Yes, double-crossed; it is rumored that Mason and Raia have invested at least $160,000 into One Hoboken, believing they could elect at least one of the candidates. Presumably Raia, but GA hears Mason believed Tim had a chance. So, while these two poured money into One Hoboken, allegedly 'Finboy' and Swibinski were working cooperatively to drive the campaign into the ground.
They were so successful- too successful. Finboy was then forced to part ways with Ruben and look like he was making an effort for Tim by putting out a midnight flyer, calling former mayor Anthony Russo (and his family) "criminals", and putting out a TV ad attacking Ramos. The unintended consequences of 'campaigning for Tim' seems to be infuriating the Russos and Ramos.
Meanwhile, Beth Mason remains oblivious. So does Raia.
You ask why would Finboy secretly work against his Boss? Most likely he's looking for a place to land when Beth is 'done' in 2015.
And if sources are correct about the Swibinski plan, how did it allegedly work ?
GA is told that as Tim began gearing up to run, a 'mole' under deep cover was dispatched to destroy Occhipinti by: (1) infiltrating One Hoboken and (2) undermining the campaign. In several ways. If true, it appears this operation been incredibly successful.
Does the timeline fit? It appears so.
In August 2013, the local media began buzzing about Occhipinti entering the mayoral, and on 9/3/2013 he filed his petition to run.
On or about that time the co-owner of his condo moved out, and his Communications Director moved in.
On or about 9/16/2013, Occhipinti gave his boss 2 weeks notice that he would be leaving his job on (last day 9/ 27/2013) to run for Hoboken mayor.
9/16/2013 was also the day Swibinski's Vision Media was paid on it's (first) invoice of $6,000.
Ruben's ELEC reports show that Vision Media has been paid at least $14,700 to-date for their work.
Ramos' Vision for Hoboken ELECS: payments to Vision Media |
So, ELEC shows payments to Vision Media starting in the same time-frame that Occhipinti joined the race. Was Swibinski hired for an 'Occhipinti Strategy'?
Well, back-stabbing and treachery are par for the course in filthy Hudson County politics. But I am told this one is the "worst". A BnR source who's witnessed many elections tells me "this is the dirtiest I have ever seen in Hoboken."
What about Occhipinti's future in Hoboken politics? What if he turns out to be the 'spoiler' in a close race?
GA believes it may be a close race.
REFORM must GET OUT THE VOTE for Dawn Zimmer, Ravi Bhalla, Dave Mello and Jim Doyle.

For those who don't get GA's "myramid" reference, watch this excerpt from Tim Occhipinti's appearance on Beth Mason's cable access show "Hoboken Today":
I wonder if there is a reward attached for doing their duty, like a trip out of town somewhere
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Timmys new roomie encouraged him to quit his job, stroked his ego... was it all his idea to dump a steady paycheck on a longshot?
ReplyDeleteIt is a dirty slimy race where you have one camp of sleazebags going after the other. Funny to watch them attack each other and leave the reformers alone most of the time.
ReplyDeleteSomebody needs to blow the whistle on Finn boy.
ReplyDeleteHoboken elections are always close.
ReplyDeleteGetting the vote is the key.
It really has to annoy Raia to realize that he is being undone by his arch enemy, Swibinski and Beth toadie Finn Boy. Not only are these two destroying Raia's last chance at getting political power, but they are using Raia's own money to do it.
ReplyDeleteSince Frank doesn't read the internet, he'll never know unless someone tells him. What's Mason's reaction to all this?
DeleteMason won't believe it. she'll call Swibinski and he'll lie. he'll protect Finn Boy and blame someone else. the wallet is guaranteed until 2015.
DeleteBeth's problem is she has no friends. Nobody is watching her back.
DeleteHey, GA...any info on how much money the NJ Assoc of Realtors, ooops, I mean MSTA has "donated" to One Hoboken? If we knew then we could figure out how many 'yes' votes Pupie bought for them. Last election they paid $12K to Let the People Decide.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy the whole intentional sabotage thing - makes a nice story but in reality it just looks like a terrible campaign.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note - how come ruben isn't sending out any mailers lately? Does he not have a lot of money or does he know the score and he's saving it for later....
Based on ELEC report, Ramos campaign has no money. They are running on fumes, quite literally.
Deletedoing damage control, Anon 1:09 doesn't wash. The fact is AP worked for Ramos first, and then suddenly switched sides. She lies about working for AP, but she also worked for Carmello
DeleteI think Dawn should have been more out speaking to the people. Everyone I speak to is worried she may not win. IF CAMARANO DIDN'T DO WHAT HE DID SHE DID LOSE.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, Dawn is 'working' it and not staying back thinking she is an easy victor. She is a very deterined, hard working campaigner, which is why she ran for Mayor, even though many in her camp did not think she was ready at the time but did see her campaigning skills.
DeleteAnon @ 1:48 AM, Mayor Zimmer is working it hard, going door-to-door. In fact, got a funny call from a friend who was in his underwear when she came knocking.
DeleteNope, she is campaigning hard, at the same time working hard at her full-time job-- one that she didn't quit to campaign!
If Baracatto is running one hobokens GOTV how can they trust him?
ReplyDeleteI really do think that AP is a moron but she is way to attractive to be interested in the bloated, balding numb-nuts. This really is starting to make sense.
ReplyDeletewhat is really interesting about this election is Tim's campaign never had a chance even if there wasn't sabotage as he is not electable but they had plenty of money to spend and plenty of resources...Ramos on the other hand had a chance but didn't have the money or the resources. clearly these numnuts could have made it close if they worked together but their dispute is the best thing that could ever happened to hoboken. This will mark the beginning of the end of the Russo Family era in Hoboken.
ReplyDeleteHate to say it, but hear they've got a 'Day 2' plan in the works. Depending upon the election outcome, things may get very interesting on the Dark Side.
DeleteFrank Raia Stated that Hola has a 500 student waiting list. It is believed that the upper grades have less then 10 students in ea class?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the truth?
Frank Raia developed a property in town and the first 38 units he sold between 62-72K no tax abatement, no pilot program 10% over cost, to HIS FRIENDS + PARKING Duping the Pres. all along. How many of those units are still owned by those "friends" they must have made a BOATLOAD!
Frank Raia Chairman of North Hudson Sewerage Authority since 1988 thru 5 diff administrations. What have you done for Hoboken?! Tell us!
Frank Raia stated that he left the Board of Education. The FACT is Frank Raia LOST the election! You were VOTED OUT!" And Thank GOD!
Frank Raia consistently lies about the number of students in the district. Frank Raia is on TAPE stating that there are only 2000 kids left in Public School System. An outright lie.
Peter Biacamono, Frank Raia's running, mate currently sits on the BoE and the Finance Committee. Peter Biancamono is printing these lies and sending them out in the form of Campaign materials. He should be brought up on Ethic Violations.
Frank tell us please, what is Hola's budget? The public doesn't get to vote on Charter School Budgets EVER! They can spent the Publics money any which way they want NO CAPS! But you know this...
Peter Biancamono and family moved out of town at one point. How can he claim he lived her all his life? Another lie.
One Hoboken Frank Raia, Tim Occipinti, Peter Biancamano, Brittany Cook : The Team that is going to Continue to LIE to the Public.
Yes they are liars. That's why the anti-rent control, msta/liberty-board-of-realtors/nj-association-of-realtors are using them to purchase their votes. MSTA and Simoncini are the biggest liars around.
DeleteSpotted Saturday: Timmy, Pupie and Castellano leaving Marineview 2 with a flunky carry what seemed to be leftover Dunkin Donuts and Coffee. Too cheap to leave it behind for those that came to their vote farming event.
ReplyDeleteI really wish I had a councilperson who cared about the residents that don't live in affordable or senior housing in the first ward.
That's funny! Reminds me of this story a reader once sent:
Deletehttp://grafixavenger.blogspot.com/2012/08/tim-takes-cake.html
Earlier this year Tim attended a senior bingo night and brought two cakes, put them down on the refreshment table when everyone was looking, then picked one of them up and left when they weren't.
They were asked to leave MV2.
DeleteMrs. C was livid.
spotting this afternoon on washington: pupie, timmy, matt and some other kuncklehead sitting at tables outside a restaurant, all looking mighty tired and glum. we know matt's glum because his former BFF ruben refused to shake his hand yesterday. the kid was practically despondent on facebook, think he might need some happy meds. timmy looked glum because it probably just occurred to him that he doesn't have a job or anything to keep him busy after tuesday, and that includes in the sack when AP goes bye bye. pupie just looks his usual way.
ReplyDeletewhat a crew.
We should take bets on how long AP sticks around after Tuesday, when.she wakes up next to a jobless loser. I give it a week.
DeleteDon't think it's right to make wagers on such a thing. I'm very loyal and would personally never do anything too corrupt. I would at least wait for the wet spot of my predecessor dries before I hit the sheets with a new guy. OK, well maybe not but it all depends on what's in it for me.
DeleteAnyway, a smart girl uses her assets for advancement and me and my friends know how to get it done. West New York here I come? I'm coming... I'm coming!
"Some girls they're so pure Some girls so corrupt
This one should be a run-a-way for the Zimmer Administration with only Frank Raia having an outside chance. The ward council races are the next battlegrounds. The Ramos/Russo army will be out to destroy Tim O. in the 4th. Politics go on! Will Beth have any success in the county with her $ ?
