1-Year Anniversary Coming Soon

of Timmy's At Large City Council candidate becoming a Hoboken registered voter.

Happy Anniversary, Brit!

Pssst... take a look at Blue Jersey's report on Timmy's 2010 election:
Red Flags: How much does it cost to buy an election in Hoboken's 4th ward?
Tue Dec 21, 2010 at 03:06:24 PM EST

Outgoing Hoboken Councilman Michael Lenz's supporters say it costs about $22,000. That's how much his opponent Tim Occhipinti spent on "campaign workers" to win Ward 4's Council seat in November. What's unusual about that? Well, nothing, until you consider that there were about 575 of them, and that for all that Election Day "field" help there was little Occhipinti campaign presence visible on 4th Ward streets (say the Lenz folks). And that Occhipinti paid 575 workers for an election in which only 2,076 people cast ballots (Lenz Election Day paid workers = 17). Most alarming is a spike - a big one - in vote-by-mail ballots, and who it was who turned them in: overwhelmingly it was Occhipinti's "campaign workers". Hoboken Ward 4 absentee voting dwarfs that of every other election in Hudson County, according to the Hudson Clerk's figures. The county prosecutor's office recently referred 190 vote-by-mail ballots to the state Attorney General's office, though it's not known if any investigation concerns the Lenz campaign's allegations.
Vote by Mail percentages off-the-charts in Hoboken's 4th Ward- 28% of ballots cast for Occhipinti were PAID campaign workers
Why oh, why would a nice, young woman with no history of political engagement in Hoboken, barely registered to vote, loan her good name to this crew?

Save yourself, Britney!  Once the fraudulent and/or paid-for ballots cast for you  start rolling in (and they will) your good name will be forever soiled.

    1. That's harsh. I'd say a monumental lapse of judgement and failure to do her due diligence.

She's stepped in shit, for sure. The question is, does she pull out her shoe and clean it off, or does she insert the other shoe and go for a swim?

If she chooses the latter, then I will probably agree with you.

    2. Well, you really just made my point. Either way, she is an idiot.

  2. She's my neighbor, actually very popular in the neighborhood with a cool bulldog

While She probably has good intentions,I'm not sure her career as a realtor is an issue.
    I'm a realtor too

Her decision to not support reform is disappointing, but I hold not animosity

    1. Yes, thank you tony.

I put Ms. Montgomery in the category of 'leaping without looking', but that won't spare her the slings and arrows and intense scrutiny of any candidate in the Hoboken political arena- which you know so well from your own experience. Moreover, the scrutiny on the blogs is only what can be seen- political operatives are digging as we speak/type.

    2. The city does not need people on the city council who don't do their due diligence.

    3. I agree, Anon @ 9:10 AM.

GA was once naive about the corruption in our city- including the massive 'alleged' election fraud in the 4th Ward (of course I would have done my homework before running for office) so feel obligated to educate Britney about her ticket. After that, there is no excuse if she chooses to lend her good name to that crew.

For example, there's the 2010 BoE election where her running-mate Frank Raia was Treasurer for the team of Kyelia Colon, Patty Waiters and Ken Howitt. No ELEC was ever filed and check out the absentee ballot counts for those candidates- from the Hudson County Clerk:

Speaking of an ELEC, have Timmy, Britney, Frank and Peter B. filed yet?

    4. Since when did having a "cool bulldog" become any criteria for being a council person? What the fuck is this, high school? That is is a laughable as TIMMAY extolling his stint as student council president as a reason why he should be elected, and look what that got us. If she is that clueless and intellectually lazy to throw in with the likes of Raia and TIMMAY, then she is a moron who has no business getting anywhere near a council seat.

  3. it's a free country, but i'd feel odd voting for someone who only registered to vote here a year ago and who has never (to my knowledge) spoken up at council meetings. i mean really, i know more about joe mindak than i do about her (and i know next to nothing about him!). shouldn't we want people who are more committed than that to serve in city government? why such a low bar?

    1. I'd feel dirty voting for anyone on a slate headlined by a few of these characters regardless of how new and fresh faced their running mates were. That is what will doom most of these 1st time candidates.

  4. There is nothing on her Facebook which shows an interest in Hoboken civic affairs or politics. Low bar, indeed.

  5. We have a joke in the 'hood. "Did you see Tim while running for election? No, not even his name in the election booth!" I live in the 4th ward and I'd be damned how if any of us know how that racist, SOB Tim won the elections, because nobody in the 'hood voted or even saw this guy canvassing in the neighborhood. Then again there's the absentee ballots which should be illegal, because everyone knows they're buying the votes for $25 a pop.

  6. Voting is a public event, where citizens come together to elect an official that represents the community. There is no place for absentee ballots in a democratic society. This is why we have no democracy here in the 4th ward. I, too, live in the 4th ward and like the person above, I don't know anyone who voted for Occhipinti whether, white, black, or Hispanic. My personal opinion is that the machines were and are rigged, too. Although I also know many people who don't vote, because the HHA group that controls & runs the elections in our ward deter anyone who they believe will vote for whoever the HHA director doesn't want. This in addition to the absentee ballots they try to force down the tenants throats and which everyone knows are filled out or altered according to the will of Raia & the other political bosses. When someone put pro-rent control flyers to vote no to save rent control on the ballot question under doors one evening, next morning word was out that the party or parties responsible would be evicted. During the election, dozens of people were seen holding vote yes to the rent control issue, but you didn't see not one holding a sign to vote no to save rent control. This ward is literally a fiefdom, where displaying your conscience during election periods gets you evicted. Yes, its not just saying no to sexual favors that gets you out or in the case of those getting apts for sexual favors, gets you in. The city should ban absentee ballots and at least one issue of voter fraud will disappear.

  7. After speaking to a Ramos campaign worker last week, Birtney Montgomery-Cook, may soon regret giving up her obscurity to run for public office.

The gloves are off in the Ramos camp and they are looking to get even for what they see as a betrayal by Occhipinti.

    1. oh boy. i am very much looking forward to a front row seat for the dark side infighting that's about to take place. it's like bloods vs crips, we should put them together on some dessert island and let them whack each other.

btw, it's almost too much to call it tim's betrayal, though, because tim just does what he's told. he doesn't have an independent thought in his head.

    1. do you think he expected to be one of the names on the ticket? i recall a few months back on MSV comments (i think) he said a big announcement was coming, implying it involved him. maybe he got too distracted posing for photos with the situation.
