True Colors

Somebody's child.  Does it matter whose?

Once upon a time, a Hoboken family was notified a little girl would arrive the following day to stay for a month, perhaps longer.  The family scurried around to prepare a room for the child.  They had no bed, and so desperately tried to find one for her.

Thank goodness, the Hoboken mom found a kids' bed for sale on the Hoboken Moms Yahoo group!  She made an offer; humble though it was, that was the price she could pay.

Folks, this is no fairytale.  See below for what happened next (start with the seller's ad at the bottom).

So,  are you wondering what happened to the little girl without the bed?

GA loves a happy ending:
an angel came to our rescue and we're all prepared for our little guest to arrive... Love Hoboken... so many good people with big hearts!!
Good luck with your little sweetheart!

  2. Let's be clear on what happened here. the crib was listed for sale Sunday June 16 @ 1:51 PM. 24 hours and 31 minutes passed by. Mr. Branco didn't seem to care. An offer was sent Monday at 2:25. 23 MINUTES LATER, Joe Branco decides to place a counter-bid.

The word scumbag does not begin to describe this action.

  3. I have lived in Hoboken a long time and seen some pretty disgusting things, but that was one of the worst.

It was mean, petty and self serving. Big man. Money bags. Outbidding someone in an emergency. He really thought that was going to make him look generous and selfless. Made him look like a douche.

  4. Pathetic. More of a minge than a man.

  5. basically, joe decided to be a dick because he never thought he'd get identified. what a stand-up guy.

  6. And I bet it was because he could not stand seeing Mrs. Minuttillo get the bed for 75. If it had been someone else...

  7. How many people who have friends or employees with kids knew jack about some kid outgrowing a crib until after the parents went out and got a bed? Calling BS on this one especially considering the source.

  8. Poor Joe. Just looking for a win-win and a nice ending to the story. A good ending. A sweet, clean, euphoric ending. A happy ending? Happy endings are something this re-tread of the Cammarano campaign knows all about. Many had a hand in these happy endings. Cash is not the only way to grease a palm, and who knew they had so many female Asian constituents in midtown west?

Along the campaign trail, happy endings cut short many an evening of their illiterate corrupticrat speechifying and the "park and bark" blatherings they alone are capable of during this open season: Lie, noun, verb, "Zimmer"; mislead, verb, noun, "Zimmer"; Slander, noun, verb, "Zimmer".

So handy they are, and not just with words. But you know what they say, if you're too handy too often, you may lose your 20/20 vision.

  10. Branco creeps around on a Moms web site, then jumps in on an emergency to outbid a bed away from a little girl?

    He's not even a man.

  11. This is creepy. This sinks to the Calicchio level. Skulking around the Mom's site to spite TM is bizarre behavior. And certainly not befitting of anyone aspiring to appointed or elective office in Hoboken. This actually so disgusting and skeevy that I initially thought that the post was a prank - someone posing as JB. But if it were, he would have been here screaming that it as some Zimmertini trying to make him look bad. Recall how protested way too much about the Nazi truck. So congrats to JB, you , in your own special way, have out-Calicchioed Calicchio. An achievement of which you should be very proud.

  12. If it was someone other than Joe would this post even exist? I doubt JB scrolls Hoboken Moms looking to see who makes offers, although he does scroll the blogs to see who says what. He has kids and employees and made a higher offer. I don't think it has anything to do with Theresa.

    3. Yeah, Joe buys bedroom furniture for his kids by dumpster diving on the mom's blog. You must be used to talking to idiots. You're not talking to them now. Run along.

  13. The test of a person's true character is evident when you observe their behavior when they think they are operating undetected. This certainly doesn't make Joe look very good, and the fact that he did not immediately comment (and still hasn't) here to clarify the situation makes him look even worse.

I suppose it could be an honest coincidence, and maybe Joe has been busy and isn't aware of this post. Now is his opportunity to clarify what happened. Batter up, Joe.

  14. Joe responded to the party at his place for the kids graduation and that got flagged and removed and my recent comment about Theresa low balling the offer got removed too? What happened to that free speech you all hold to the highest standard?

  15. Not even sure how i came upon this site but now i'm reading an article and thinking i must have missed something because the comments dont seem to match the story. Was this bed being donated to a family in need and someone with money came in and took it away from a needy family- that indeed would be scumbag move. But i just bid on a guitar online on craigslist, i outbid someone else, am i scumbag? When someone sells something online they are either motivated to get rid of fastest or most money or both. what did this guy do that was so alarming to the people on this blog? And i shouldnt this because i'm currently on this site but for those who create this story..really, this is how you spend your time. says more about you than the person your trying to villify. Pat, confused in Hoboken

    1. You're "not even sure how you ended up on this site"?? Really? You just happened to stumble upon it and thought you'd defend some guy you don't know? Really? Ok.

    2. Not doing yourself any favors "Pat" and neither are your "friends" posting one lame defense after another. The more you protest the worse it looks. There is no defense for such mean spirited behavior.

    3. Isn't JB on record ranting about posting under an assumed handle/name being despicable? Well, if pulling a Callicchio on TM is within his comfort zone, then I shouldn't be surprised at his out right hypocrisy.

    4. What an idiot. Honestly, man, you're making a bigger jackass of yourself than the story itself suggests. "Not sure how I even came to this site"????????

Does your computer just randomly pick websites? I'm guessing that your computer illiteracy also covers your ignorance of your online fingerprints. Ask one of the staff to explain it to you. Maybe you can offer to buy them a bed in exchange for explaining IP.

The rest of us will be sitting here laughing at you lying like a 5 year old who has no conception how easily disproved his story is.

    5. Still waiting to hear if the legally required campaign finance reports will get filed but I never thought I would get an answer. Some people just have no respect for the rule of law. And we all know which candidates those sorts of people back.

  16. I'm almost laughing as i read this. So news flash people on this site hate joe branco. add this to list, he sneezed and didnt cover his mouth, he bought a coffee at d&d this morning, i was there, i overheard..he didnt say thank you. He made a left turn and didnt use his directional. Man you're right that Joe Branco buying furniture, online, in an open bid for a friend who needs one and cant afford it, wow you're right such a scumbag thing to do. The reality is you can equally fill your blog with lists and lists of things he does that he does for others that he does not have any obligation to do nor does he get anything out of doing. someone who doesnt think he's a scumbag.

    1. Joe, you were "buying furniture online" on a mommy-site? And just happened to kneecap Minutillo 23 minutes after she put in a bid for a bed she needed for a child in less than 24 hours?

You are not doing yourself any favors here. You just don't get it. People aren't posting because they "hate" you- they hate what you DID. Which you obviously have no remorse about.

Since you have the dough to buy generous gifts like kids beds, there are hundreds of online retail stores where you could have ordered a bed. But NO, you had to bid for the one Minutillo did on a mommy site you were lurking on, minutes after she put in her offer. Nice. Real nice.

  21. Branco justifies his treatment of this plea for a bed like a fucking eBay auction by saying his employee couldn't afford a bed for their child. WHAT THE HELL IS HE PAYING THEM???? You could go up to Bergenline Avenue and outfit a kids room for less.

  22. OK I read this a little while ago and wanted to come back to it. This post makes little logical sense.

You know that Hoboken Moms gets dozens of posts a day, probably one every few minutes. No one reads them all and most people get them in batches a few times a day. there is no way that branco would have known that Teresa posted that 20 minutes earlier unless he was literally sitting and monitoring the site every minute, the main site on yahoo and waiting to see JUST IN CASE one of his political enemies posted so he could get revenge somehow.

You really think he was watching the site all day hoping Teresa might post something? The posts are too close together for him to have known otherwise.

It seems to me you would want to ask him what happened before damaging his reputation in this way. why wouldn't you at least reach out? It was so important to make an assumption about someone ? And no, the idea that he can come to this site and defend himself is silly. posting something about someone and saying "Well, if he is innocent he can leave comments on my website defending himself" isn't the way to operate. He actually defended something a few weeks ago and just got attacked as anyone would.

I am less worried about him and more worried about the message this sends to anyone who has a different opinion or god forbid associates with a different political side then you or City Hall. You made an assumption that to me makes little sense.

Even if he did have it in for her, he would have no way to know to watch the site that gets HUNDREDS of posts. And you think that is how he would exact revenge, outbidding her on a used bed.

I think instead of piling on a political enemy you should use some discretion and really get the facts first. A real question I would like to know, have you ever asked anyone before posting a critical entry of them? Geniunely want to know.

    1. The post makes "little logical sense"?

The post is a screenshot of a bid Branco made on a web site in the public domain, and signed his name to. The mommies web site has about 5,000 members. "Damaged his reputation?" I've posted a screenshot HIS bid made in the public domain- so he only has himself to blame. He has no claims to privacy. He signed his NAME. Many people have weighed in with comments. I agree with many.

How about answering this question: why didn't Joe Branco or Castellano Jr. or James Barracato reach out to me and ask me if I was Kids First graphic designer before their campaign inundated Hoboken with vicious midnight fliers and a Nazi Trucks attacking me citywide? Hmmm? I am sure that doesn't trouble you, hypocrite.

Why didn't they "get the facts first"?

The facts speak for themselves. Branco can afford any bed, anywhere but chose to kneecap Minutillo on a mommies site in an emergency. Don't continue to make a fool out of yourself. By the way, there was an identical bed listed a few days later on Hoboken Moms. Did Branco bid on it? Hmmm? No? Why not?

There is nothing "genuine" about you.

    2. Oh just forget about this tiresome "concern troll". Obviously this issue hit home and someone now realizes what a jackass move JB made. I love how these idiot floperatives hatch these hair brained ideas, which then blow up n their face, and then scramble to try and control the damage by expressing "concern" about how you post comments. Like the problem is all your fault. What morons. They constantly insult the intelligence of the general population in Hoboken and think that no one will notice their stupid pet tricks. They truly are the pack of flying monkeys that pray at the checkbook altar of the Wicked Bitch of Hudson Street.
