Recall Fever

Unprecedented weekend traffic,  a dozen downloads of GA's unofficial Recall 2013 logo (no commercial use, please)...

Hoboken's got Recall Fever.

There isn't much more to add to yesterday's announcement, except it appears the Mason Blog-Squad has been dispatched to dissemble on GA and MSV,  a transparent effort undermine reform support for the recall.

Honestly, they shouldn't be worried about us now.  If Reform had the muscle to unilaterally run a recall, it would have happened 2 years ago.  No, the coalition goes beyond Reform into Mason's own political backyard. GA believes it also has Ruben's quiet support.  What's she done for him lately?  She didn't get his mayoral announcement on Hoboken411 and had it buried on page 2 of The Hoboken Reporter.  Most telling: the Russos are supporting Ruben.

2 + 2 = uh oh.

So, I think their efforts would be better spent elsewhere. But, hey who listens to GA?

My point today is to show you how Beth Mason CAN unite political opponents: Republicans and Democrats, Old Guard and Reform, as Recall Fever spreads throughout the land.

  1. I can live with recall fever - I worked in Beth-Steel Shipyard and Lipton Tea Building - I live in the 2nd Ward - Long live the 2nd Ward!

  2. Is Buono clueless? Why would she allow Mason to insinuate herself into her campaign? Isn't she going to have enough of a hard time trying to beat Christie as it is? Mason's involvement = zero support locally. Does the Democratic Party want Buono to lose Hudson County?

    1. Yes, I do think she is clueless. This is just the latest manifestation.

    2. Buono is helpless. The Dems. are not really supporting her. Powerful Senator Sweeney is a solid enemy. The only steady one's on Mason's ship now are the paid staff, some of whom are responsible for the bad advice they gave her...for example, to back Healy. The party's over!

  3. The old guard would love for reformers to spend money and energy getting rid of mason for them. Either way reform has less resources for the november elections and they know mason is a dead duck at the next ward elections. If reform is suckered by this obvious play I'll be disappointed.

    1. No one that I know in Reform will spend a penny.

Energy is a different story. Don't assume all the 'energy' is coming from Reform. Her constituents can't stand her.

For the cup-half-empty crew: think of all the interest in this election a recall will generate. It's very hard to get the public's attention. This certainly will, and they will learn how much better reform is at governing.

    2. Does anyone think that when the old guard says something is good for reform and sweetens the deal by offering to do most of the work they really have reform's best interests at heart.

A fool and their reform government are soon parted.

    3. The OG hasn't said it's good for reform. Where'd that come from? No one has actually come forward to take ownership of it- on the Reform or OG side. I know that some Reformers in the 2nd Ward have talked about a recall and wanted it for some time. So if it takes a coalition to get it done, so be it. Whatever the OG agenda is, getting rid of Mason is a win for Hoboken.

    4. I wouldn't be too concerned with these folks who want to quibble over which doctor cuts the cancer out. I will listen to Mattaccino on the subject and a few others who have established reform credentials (because they use names consistently instead of 'guest').

The rest, I assume, are just worried about anything happening to Beth because it would mean they will actually have to work for a living, and most of them aren't qualified to do much of anything.

  4. Beth seems to have a track record of supporting losers when she can't buy an election- Corzine, Healy and now Buono. I'm glad that unlike Carmelo she's not backing my rock star!
