Santa of Belmar- UPDATED

Thanks to MSV's resident horse, GA has obtained the audio of the Christmas Eve Russo Robocall, posted below for your listening pleasure.  A friend noted it sounds like he read it off a TelePrompter at gunpoint.

GA has to agree.

There are enough strange dimensions to a robocall from a politician on Christmas Eve promising future gifts to nameless charities for a 2-month old disaster. Add to that a lifeless oration. Add to that it went city-wide instead of to Russo's constituents in the 3rd Ward.

The whole thing was weird.   GA didn't get to the 'screw Hoboken' part.

With thousands of Hoboken residents struggling to recover from damage to their homes, personal property, cars, Councilman Russo interrupts Christmas Eve to stick a chubby finger in the eye of all residents, announcing:
"...Please accept our well wishes this holiday season.  In lieu of our annual Christmas card we will be making a monetary donation in the name of Hoboken residents to Sandy relief efforts across the state."

Russo wants to help "across the state."

Hoboken residents thank him- for nothing.   Heartwarming, how a Hoboken City Councilman brags to his wounded community on Christmas Eve that he's playing Santa Claus "across the state" but we're getting a lump of coal.

Maybe the residents of Belmar want to pay his City Council salary?  I don't.

Why not make a monetary donation in the name of Hoboken residents to Hoboken residents for Sandy relief efforts across Hoboken?

How about donating to RebuildHoboken.org?  The kitty is up over $600K.

Here's the robocall.

Well, on a lighter note...

In spite of elected officials like Russo turning on Hoboken, the display of generosity of many, many others to help this community has been astounding.

As donations large and small continue to pour into RebuildHoboken.org, GA would like to thank these heavy-hitters whose generosity will provide recovery grants to residents (up to $5,000 depending on monies raised and number of applicants) ).  Application deadline is January 20, 2012.
