The FBI Flip that Flopped

A well-placed source has told GA a very interesting tale...

In 2009, a Hoboken politico who got caught in the FBI's net was given the choice to forgo prosecution if he turned informant... so he did.

As always when someone is flipped to rat out others, the Feds invest considerable time, money and effort in the task.  Each rat-fink has a designated handler and resources are allocated to follow through on tips and leads, and of course to meet with them.  The aim: to ensnare more rats.

Accordingly, the FBI invested resources in their Hoboken rat.

And the problem?

The rodent held out on them.  Gave them tips of no real significance.  This became crystal-clear in 2011 with these 2 words: Patrick and Ricciardi.

Ricciardi ran his data theft operation well into 2011 until Mayor Zimmer became suspicious her email account had been hacked. So she hired independent forensic auditors who confirmed the theft and then notified the FBI.

You get it?

The Hoboken rat 'forgot' to inform the FBI about Ricciardi, his 'friend'.

The Mayor of Hoboken did instead.

And as the Hoboken investigation intensified in 2011 with new rocks overturned via wiretaps, video, and more talkers, the Feds have realized their 'flip' was a total flop.   Which leaves them with a negotiated agreement not to prosecute an informant who wasn't informing.

I'll have to ask Not-Stempler about the viability of such an agreement when one side is selectively blind and deaf to what he's negotiated to see and hear.

Yes, this rat is clever, street-wise and that explains the shit-eating grin he flashes in the most public of places.

That is, if the rumor is true.

 If.

  1. If it is true, then that informant is in deep shit. He/she will now be squeezed like orange juice by the feds. Do not expect to see that grin much longer.

  2. I sincerely hope after the FBI is done w/ him, he has to plea out to something, endure a nice perp walk and be the subject of endless ridicule, scorn & humiliation as his name and reputation are dragged through the mud.

    1. wow! maybe a certain someone previously thought to have not taken the bribe he/she was caught agreeing to actually DID accept it but flipped in exchange for no charges? now that's interesting.

  6. oh man, this is the most awesome thing i've read in ages. i always wondered how "someone" could be caught in a sting yet walk away free and clear, now it all makes sense. you might outsmart the feds for a little while but there's a limit to their patience.

  7. Here's a tip. If the feds come calling it's a lot easier to just tell the truth.

    1. If its who I think it is, I don't think he can. Its much easier to assume he is lying and work backwards from there.

  8. Fascinating hearsay, GA!

Just the latest in a classic case study of nature & nurture, in the creation of "inheritable" sociopathy. Further enabled by Hoboken's twisted variation on "it takes a village...."
