Report From the Room

GA  heard from a couple of people who were at last night's Southwest Redevelopment Meeting.

One of them sent me this:
So went to the SW Redevelopment hearing. Room was PACKED to the gills. Overflow into the hallway. A little speech about the process and then the announcement that the meeting could not proceed because the crowded exceeded the number of people per the fire code.

Next hearing on the 23rd at a bigger venue.

Lots of lawyers in the room. Also, plenty of land sharks searching for a tasty morsel of unprotected real estate.

The Putz (Franz Paetzhold)showed up, working the BNR crowd in all his regal smarminess. Gheesh, he is like something out of a bad casting call for a stereotypical greasy politician. He seems to actually think that he has some kind of charm and charisma, but he doesn't notice that he leaves a sea of shrugged shoulders, blank stares and rolled eyes as he walks away from people. Actually is pretty amusing to watch his complete lack of self awareness. Major tool.

Speaking of dorks, up rolled the proud representative of the 4th Ward (Tim Occhipinti) about 7:45, after the meeting was over and most of the crowd had gone. He really is dumber and more of a doofus in person than he appears on camera.

Not much else, nice turn out of reform and new residents of the 4th. The kind that don't sell their votes. Should be interesting to see what evolves.
Thank you, friend.

I guess I'm going to hear from Franz later.

The last time I posted something about him, he gave me a call.  I'll respect his privacy and won't discuss our conversation.  The only thing I will say to Franz is that he needs to develop a thicker skin if he wants to be in politics- especially here in Hudson County where it gets hideously personal and nasty.

And Franz, your 'side' are in fact the cruelest and nastiest.

GA  just became aware of Mason operatives  planting horrible things about Business Administrator Arch Liston on the Galloway, NJ Patch (Liston's next stop).

Now think about THAT, Franz.

That is taking the 'game' to the next level, the politics of personal destruction.

Once Arch leaves Hoboken, what he does shouldn't really matter to those who opposed him on the political playing field, right?  I mean, the guy's moving on.

So what Hoboken political objective does the smearing of Liston satisfy?

None, Franz.  It's darkly malicious, nasty and PERSONAL.  Antithetical to how  'old time' establishment Hoboken politicos like the Russos do business.   To them, it's not personal, it's business.  That's the 'code' such folks understand and why they will never mesh with their dysfunctional ally Mason and her unhinged cohorts.

The Russos (for example) have their own ethics- Mike Russo called politics "a contact sport".  And in contact sports- take football for example,  does Eli Manning care what Tom Brady does after the game?  Does he try to wreck his livelihood?

(GA had to call my Sports Metaphor Department for help with that one.  I don't know a Patriot from a Cub)

No, this assault on Arch's livelihood comes right out of the bat shit-crazy, mean-spirited, sociopathic Beth Mason wing of Hoboken politics.

So, Franz.  These are the fish you're swimming with. And yes, people will say things about you that you don't like.

  1. Galloway, NJ? One might presume Mr. Liston gravitates toward the devil he knows. (And masochism.) Different players, same dysfunction.

  2. Yes, MBB. GA's already heard from a Galloway blogger... the place sounds like another cesspool of corruption.

  3. If you mention where Franz works, he will go bonkers. The man is deathly afraid of his employers finding out what political cesspools he plays in or what toxic people he is willing to work with. I suspect it is because if they know he is working some of these people, it will reflect poorly upon him but that is just a theory.

    1. If that be the case, I am not sure why's he doing it. Is the risk worth the reward? (rhetorical)

    2. No idea but mention his employer on patch or question his ability to do his finance related job when he starts repeating the same old Mason misinformation on the city's finances or some other quantifiable issue and watch your posts go poof real quick. The man doesn't like to have any evidence of his foolishness out there in the public realm.

    3. Yeah, I can't say much more without violating his privacy other than to agree with your observation. Bloggers are mere gnats... he's in a nasty game.

    4. Well, if he works in finance, he probably spends his work day with variations on the themes of subterfuge & toxicity. Who knows, given that industry? If his employer discovered the specifics of his "community service," he might actually receive a bigger bonus!

    5. In the world of Google, I'm guessing his employers- at least the HR Dept.- know of his Hoboken exploits.

    6. He is in a nasty game by choice and he has aligned himself w/ people that have no integrity by choice. Not my problem if those choices bite him in the ass. I will continue to point out his own poor choices whenever he pops his head up. And whenever he repeats the same misinformation spread by his allies, I will thump him on the head w/ a literary barrage that makes him look like a fool. I am fed up w/ the liars, the cheats, the thieves and their enablers. Franz is definitely acting like an enabler so he will see no mercy from me. Plus, I am really annoyed at that spoiler campaign he ran.

  4. All well & good, Red. But if you're not already, please do consider channelling some of your understandable outrage into voter education, registration, & turn-out.

    1. I do but I am rather frustrated that so many of my neighbors are from Canada or Europe and just can't vote. Hoboken should consider allowing legal green card holding residents of the US to vote in muni elections. Bet that would automatically add a couple hundred or so reform votes tot he tally.

  5. "Somewhere, a village is missing its idiot".

Franz Paetzold, having tossed his hat into the political arena, is now a public figure. As such, his place of employment and everything in his past becomes grist for the mill. If he thinks otherwise, he's even more of fool than he appears.

Wherever he works, he must not be highly compensated according to the barmaids uptown and his tipping custom. Or perhaps he's cheap - an unforgivable crime. In either case, no employer wants their staff to be engaging with criminals. It may be bad for business, especially when those crimes involve internet technology abuse and finance.

And yes, he was a spoiler, most likely propped up by Mrs. Richard G. Mason and even with all that, including the votes they bought through the Applied residents and the dirt they flung at Greaney, Tom came within a few votes of forcing a runoff.

  6. As usual, spot-on, Oracle!

(Though MBB does believe there are a number of villages whose missing-links have made their way into Hoboken political prominence.)

    2. Oracle, can you dish on his bar- tipping practices? All hearsay, of course.

    3. Twenty cents at the Hudson Tavern. Sad.

    4. No way.... he tipped a Hudson Tavern barmaid 20 CENTS?

      Wow.

Just once, or this is his M.O.?

    5. Who pulls out spare change to leave a tip on a beer that is priced in dollars? That is not just cheap, that is an insult.

      Delete
    6. Actually, Red, it's more cheap than insulting. Unless the code has changed, the server-insult is to leave a penny, indicating bad service; a generous tip plus a penny means extra kudos.

Either way, he's a dullard to be a gratuity-grinch in the small town where he has political aspirations.

(And he's probably never been a server either, or he'd take care of his former tribe. Those of us who have done that work, tend to.)

All-around, he seems like a clueless oaf.

    7. I've heard the small tips are common from him. Mason needs to give that boy some more of her husband's money.

      Delete
    8. Well either he is clueless and doesn't understand that servers live off tips or he just doesn't give a crap about servers or anyone who works in a job he considers beneath him. Personally I think it is the latter and not the former b/c he strikes me as a rather arrogant SOB.

      Delete
    9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's very bad form to leave change on a bar.

If one can't tip at least a buck, then drink at home.

    10. Like his dates, his ego is inflated.
