Old Guard's BoE: Let Them Eat Steak

What, Marie Antoinette was on the Old Guard's BoE,too?

So she got a freebie to Atlantic City with Louis Picardo and the HVAC Repair Guy AND a $300 stipend?

(You know, that junket paid with Hoboken's education budget back in 2005.... the one that Frank Raia, Theresa Burns, Carmelo Garcia,  and Francis Rhodes-Kearns approved?)

Well, I sure hope Marie didn't lose her head at the craps table.

But yours might explode when you see this- page 157 from the 2005-2006 BoE audit:

Wow!

And that's not ALL...  there are more, more, more  restaurant dinners in that audit... do you wonder what a Connors classroom could have done with that eating-spree cash?

I do.

People who'd rather buy themselves restaurant dinners with education money than use it to educate kids DON'T belong on our School Board.

And they certainly should NOT ever control it again.

GA Fun Fact: Marie Antoinette never said that famous quote attributed to her

"Let them eat cake," sneered Marie Antoinette at the plight of the Paris poor rioting outside the castle walls.

Or did she?

This quote is often used to paint a portrait of the former queen of France as a cruel aristocrat, indifferent to the suffering masses. Truth is, she never said it, and nobody knows for sure who did.

  1. Dear G.A.

I happen to really like baby pigs...they are so cute!!! Can you please change your depiction of the Old Guard Board members who were around during the audit period to that of hogs who wallowed in the mud before they fed at the trough??? Thanks!
