The Big Day

The only thing that would make this a better day for Hoboken would be if Governor Christie pulled the trigger (who are we kidding- this FBI sweep is about political will) and timed the first round of 6AM visits with his Lieutenant Governor's arrival today.

Powerfully symbolic: the Governor's representative presiding over the 'removal' of corrupt politicians off our City Council.

Because who are we kidding- the've got the goods on all those involved in the 4th Ward vote buying operation, from the feet-on-the-ground VBM captains  up to the financier.  (52K in street money through shell company Bluewater Operations, LLC anyone?)

Someone has been talking.  That's how the Feds get the big fish.

Defense attorneys in a federal criminal case cost a frigging fortune.  Start with a $25K retainer then go from there. Defendants of modest means in these cases may walk away with their shirts on their backs- and that's it.  If the Feds dangle a plea deal to a guy (or gal) who doesn't want to hand over their assets to some lawyer- their home, their beach house- then talking is the answer.

How many people in this town can afford a legal defense?

Once ensnared, most try to cop a plea rather than go to court.  The Feds count on it. And come down hard if they are not getting the information they ask for.

GA ran into Perry Belfiore yesterday.  His hair was as soft and fluffy as ever, Greek God-like, cranial perfection.  Yes, I ran my fingers through it...  aaaah.  Like a freshly-washed possum.  Perry's on hiatus from politics- who can blame him?   I'd leave town, too.

Some folks tell me this is all a big nothing. Other folks expect a frog march any day.

The only thing I can say is it is awfully quiet.  Except for the oblivious and provocative behavior from certain elected officials.

Whom I suspect are ones with the most to worry about.

GA note
See above graphic depicting 4 actual FBI agents.  Please note that 50% of these "Boys of Summer' (a popular phrase these days)  are GIRLS.
