Where in the World is

...Mike Russo?

GA wasn't too surprised he was a no-show at the showdown on Monday night.  The meeting, called by Mason to wreak havoc on the FBI investigation- a bejeweled finger in the Feds' eye, was a bad idea from the perspective of a presumed target who may wish to cut a deal with them later.

Much safer to cheer from the sidelines.

Say what you will about the Russos, they are clever. GA spoke to someone who'd gotten to know Mama Russo and these were the descriptives: very smart, very quick, very witty.  I believe it.  These people are no dummies.

So while Russo enabled Mason's meeting to happen-  hoping that the result might compromise the FBI's work- he sidestepped direct participation in it.  Either Mama or their lawyer must have told Junior: stay away.

And what better excuse for his absence than to attend the Russo takeover of the Hoboken Democratic Party at the annual reorganization scheduled on the very same night?  Only...

Mike Russo wasn't there, either.

Now that surprised GA.

Missing the victory lap of his 'Real Democrats' takeover?  Why?  Going was a viable excuse to avoid City Hall that night.  And a chance to bask in a mission accomplished: the consolidation of Russo-power on the Hoboken Democratic Committee. Hip hip hooray!

So, if he wasn't at City Hall, and wasn't at the Democratic reorganization, where was he?

The answer could be anything from a simple, personal one to... a windowless room in Newark?

Folks, Mike Russo's avoidance of 2 consequential public, political events is peculiar. In the shadow of the FBI's visit to our town.

Speculate away.

  1. You've highlighted the difference between the Russos and the Masons. Street smarts. Someone talked to Mike or he figured it out himself - don't give the feds a facial by going to Beth's evidence-tainting soiree. Same thing happened when he agreed to take the bribe from Dwek but never went back to get it. Someone straightened him out. No one straightens Beth out. This is why, at the end of the day, the Russos can never trust her. They just want to win; she wants the destruction of her enemies - and does not see how that can - and now does - preclude winning.
