Grafix Avenger first noted the disappearance of Mason political operative and Hoboken411.com ghostwriter Lane Bajardi on June 5 then again on June 8.
Given Bajardi's proximity to the epicenter of the F.B.I. investigation- the coordination of leaked electronic communications from City Hall with boss Beth Mason's political strategy and publication in Hoboken411, his low profile not all that surprising. Speculation on whether he's been tapped as a cooperating witness, has blown town, or a combination of both has run rampant since his absence was noticed.
Call it schadenfreude, but Bajardi's spewed so much poison at so many in this town that the human drama unfolding seems more like karma served hot and well-deserved. If it is what we think it is.
And of course no one really knows.
But today GA received a tip- a possible sighting- so intriguing it raises more questions.
From my Inbox:
I may be wrong but on June 3, around 7:10 pm i was waiting for a friend at the PATH- i saw what i thought might be lane (not sure because he looked a little heavier) with a roll cart and two bags - one i believe red -going to the PATH or train station - when he saw me at the PATH he went to another entrance - didn't think of it till i read he was missing.
June 3rd was a Friday.
GA called the source for more details.
What kind of bags? Suitcases. What sort of roll cart? The kind you tie suitcases to. How was he dressed? No suit, slacks. Casual. Was he wearing his signature dark glasses? No. He looked like he'd gained weight.
My source was standing near the PATH main entrance, and said when the person he/she believed to be Bajardi saw him/her, he walked right by (Bajardi knows my source). He/she presumed to the next PATH entrance beyond. But he also may have walked on to the Hoboken Terminal for a N.J. Transit train, the Ferry or even the Lightrail. The point is, he was leaving.
But where?
If he's become a cooperating witness, it's wise to get out of Dodge. But interesting that he's hoofing it on public transportation, given his servitude to a rich woman. If it was him.

The unkindest cut - to have to pass through that Path station where all the little people who actually work for a living go every day. How they have all avoided it - work. The common lot. Death and taxes, especially taxes. Except for election days, you'll never see a Russo at the Path either.
ReplyDeleteLook at those pictures of Beth on Patch where she pretends the strangers she is smiling at with pharmaceutical fatuousness are actually her constituents. If you want to play that game you need a deal, and if you don't have a deal, you need a job. Lane's deal ended, and he found himself at the Beth-forsaken Path train. Wonder if he knew how to work the turnstyle. Bet your ass Beth and the Russos don't. It would make for a hilarious short film, all of them down there trying to figure out how to get a fare card, what to do with it, and how to get places on the train. The routines of an honest day's work is a distant memory to all of them.
Off to Tucson for a gig as their public access Ch. 78 anchorman, into the Federal Witness Protection Program for same or on the lam from the Feds?
ReplyDeleteOh the possibilities...
