GA would like to remind everyone out there waking up this morning to the reality that Reform has recaptured the City Council majority that it's not politie to gloat, that savoring the sweetness of this day out loud in public may be hurtful to our corrupt and wicked friends (on the other side) who were hoping that 4 million quarters from Ricky Mason's wallet would buy them a harvest of new riches... and if all that fails to wipe that shit-eating grin off your face, then remember King James, Proverbs 16:18:
Got that?
Or you could end up like the lady at the center of this 16th century etching by Dutch master Pieter Bruegel the Elder in one of his Seven Vices series, called 'Pride'.
See her there holding the mirror?
That's Beth Mason. And her lizard-like servants? Lane Bajardi, Perry Klaussen and James Barracato. See how they're all oblivious to the debauchery around them; both part of it and fed by it.
Blech. Do YOU want to end up like THAT? In an etching?
Then get a hold of yourself this morning. No swaggering. Or chest-puffery. No smirking, grinning or gloating. None of that. Stop it. NOW.
Crap. This is no fun. Oh, alright.....
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
We won! We won! We won! Yippeeeee!
I feel so ashamed.
Tempering the triumph of Reform's victory is the fact that Eric Kurta and Rami Pinchevsky did not prevail. Greg Lincoln? How long does the average snowball last in Hell? Greg lasted longer.
But I really believed Eric and Rami would pull it off. In fact, I told a skeptical Al Sullivan that when Rami wins (not if) he's going to write that GA called it in his next column. To which he agreed. Oh, well.
So, sincerest, sincerest thanks and props to you 3 boys. But most of all, R-E-S-P-E-C-T. All 3 of you ran CLEAN, ran HARD and ran SMART. There'll be a GA post-mortem, but not today.
Because today's all about gloating.
And I've saved the best for last.
MSV is reporting that Tom Greaney is within reach of forcing a runoff with Hoboken's own Cruella DeVille, Beth Mason.
Tom. You will have ALL of Reform behind you. ALL of us.
What will Mason have? More of her own money. The Russos bring nothing to the table in the 2nd Ward.
DO NOT cede this, please. You can lance this festering boil on Hoboken's body politic. We will HELP you. We're all in it TOGETHER.
Most of all, we need your voice on the City Council.
So, stay tuned folks. It ain't over. But nobody's taking away what we've got.
Hearty congratulations to winners Peter Cunningham and Jen Giattino of the 5th and 6th Wards, respectively.
Sweet.
Pride goeth before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Yeah right. Cunningham was going down with a lame campaign. Yet he won in a crowded field. One or 2 mistakes compared with massive vote fraud in the 4th Ward ignored. Beth's resume not mentioned. I could go on. The smear merchant can't even admit defeat. Reform carried the day. Back to the good days of fiscal and legal responsibility.
