Nino's War on Moms

The operative who's been tasked with sliming Jen Giattino, the 6th Ward candidate for City Council, as a 'dog-hater' flew off-topic to mock her as a worthless stay-at-home mom with a "couch business" and the After-School Open Play program she founded at Calabro just "a futile attempt to bring validation to her life where none exists".

OK folks, politics aside for a moment.

As a 6th Ward woman, a mom, GA finds this mockery of ANY working mother's home business venture, her volunteer work with children  and her parenting, disgusting.

Ladies  of the 6th Ward, how do YOU feel about this?

Nino Giacchi, this is NOT the way to win.

Tell your 'team' this at your next 'strategy' meeting.   Call it off.

  1. GA, let me maybe be a bit cautious here. In terms of non-circumstantial proof that Mr Giacchi is behind this effort, we indeed have no direct proof. We do however have the following evidence(with apologies to some other commenters, especially "k",I'll roll it out together).

    1. william suddenly appears, seems on about some neighborhood dispute about dogs. level of anger about this dog issue seems completely over-the-top and obsessive. "He" sees this one issue as "all one needs to know" not to vote for the candidate.

    2. When challenged on this, william seems to have great amounts of time to spend veering off into talking about a vast array of "talking points" that "he" seems to tick off in a very matter of fact way, never spending much time on one particular point before launching into another. Points meander oddly back and forth between invalidation of Ms Giattano and then the Mayor, who is dragged into the discourse without any real rhyme or reason. One gets a real sense that these points are being checked off on a piece of paper, or are pages in a binder.

    3. william conveniently embraces no candidate, other than to de-facto support some candidates by concluding them to be "the lesser of two evils", so again there is no direct proof to tie the effort to any one campaign or group.

    4. william seems not only prone to overtures of violence, but clearly discriminates on age (seems like an Old Guard voice) and as you point out in this article, gender. If a calculated stand, it's a mistake. If it is real emotion, shows backward, non-progressive thinking.

    5. Most all this rhetoric is written in the same old school amorphous, non-committal accusation style as those poor-production-values mimeo flyers that used to appear below windshield wipers under cloak of darkness a few days before a Hoboken elections. They still are made on occasion for particularly tight elections. I feel this to be the blogging "voice" of the same writers.

    6. That post you had up yesterday about "other outlets" sure seemed like a slip-up.

    6. Though this has been going on for about four days, no official word from Giacchi campaign one way or the other. This give THE APPEARANCE of an approval, seeing as if Mr Giacchi did not sign off on this barrage before it started (I for one don't think he's writing it), he could have easily invalidated it by now, or at least distanced himself from it in the media. C'mon, he must have heard tell of it by now.

So we have all that. And my OPINION is aligned with yours. But to wrap this up we have a preponderance of evidence rather than proof. I think that's an important thing to crystal clear about. But, to be sure, it seems that is part of the design of the attack. To be circumstantial.

So, in conclusion, there is a lot I don't like about the circumstances of this william attack. As you point out, there's a lot I don't like about the substance of this william attack.

But I for one to be oh-so-sure not to say what I can't prove as fact, but rather to have an opinion stated as such.

And here's what I CAN say without the slightest hesitation, based on direct evidence: I disagree with the way Mr Giacchi votes. His level-headed, gentlemanly comport I respect. But as far as I am concerned he votes the wrong way 99 times out of a hundred. I think the way he votes is leading this town in the wrong direction. So he's got to go. Would be nice to see that aspect get a little more attention as the election heats up, especially in the print media.

    Thanks for your time.

  2. Wonderful post, ply. Thanks.

Well, you know the bloggery biz is all about opinion. Based on the points you've noted plus what I've learned this past year through my own dealings with such smear-merchants, it's clear that 'william' is a fake.

It's also clear that whether or not Nino ordered this kind of help, he's got to know about it. Which means he could stop it.

    If he WANTED to.

  3. But of course, Avenging One, it's all good. I know you know that, and you know I know that, but I was watching "Office Space" the other day and I didn't want any other bloggers getting out their "Jump to Conclusions" mat and going to town on this.

  5. ply, honey. Don't worry so much about what other bloggers jump to. Let's hope they jump to joy.

  6. Hey Scott, "taken seriously", no, but they're not fools. I've heard the contract clearly states they get a shift differential for anything after midnight.

  8. Oh, Scott, dont ask me, let
    william tell. Overture
of impropriety isn't my style, that's for others to get on the horn and orchestrate. I know how to conduct myself.
