Mason's Appleseed Connection

GA  EXCLUSIVE:

Was anyone else scratching their head about these things:
Appleseed is dedicated to building a society in which opportunities are genuine, access to the law is universal and equal, and government advances the public interest.
  • WHY would Appleseed, an organization that oversees elections even  successfully appealing the  results of one based on absentee ballot fraud and having those results overturned, come to Hoboken for a hospital sale, when 190 criminal complaints for 4th Ward election fraud are sitting on Attorney General Paula Dow's desk NOW?
  • WHY would Appleseed provide "rumors" as their impetus for requesting the hospital hearing... HOW did this organization become privy to local "rumors"?   WHO passed these "rumors" on to Appleseed?   From the Appleseed letter, dated March 2, 2011:
A credible public interest group suggesting 'rumors' as the basis for intervening on a municipal hospital sale?

Huh?
  • WHO is this new wannabe-bidder from Connecticut and what connections do they have to persons here in Hoboken?  Have they (or will they) be contributing to the campaigns of... oh, I don't know...
What's that smell?

Smells like another Beth Mason scheme.

Target: the Zimmer administration.

Blame them for the 'bungling' of the bidding process by dragging a legitimate organization, Appleseed, into Hoboken to  intervene on the basis of 'rumors'.

That's why the Appleseed letter invoked the MAYOR, instead of the Hospital Authority.

So what's the  connection between Appleseed and Beth Mason?

Here it is:

NJ Appleseed's March 2, 2011 letter to Mayor ZImmer and CC President Beth Mason

Renee Steinhagen, Executive Director of NJ Appleseed and author of the March 2nd letter, represented POG in it's 2005 pay-for-play lawsuit against defendants Mayor Dave Roberts and City Councilman Ruben Ramos.

Mason was active in POG's leadership back then.

So here we have it folks.  Another NJDC-style  operation.

It goes like this: Mason uses a credible organization for her own craven political purposes- targeting a critic (via NJDC) or embarrassing the mayor (via NJ Appleseed)  by exploiting a personal connection winthin that group- like Larry Stempler (on NJDC Board of Directors)  or Renee Steinhagen (Executive Director of NJ Appleseed).

Do these people know how they are being used?

Stempler- likely.  Steinhagen- doubtful.

Steinhagen needs to be apprised of  the active AG investigation into 4th Ward voter fraud AND Mason's boastful letter in the Hoboken Reporter, claiming ownership and PRIDE in circumventing ELEC limits on campaign contributions with her "$13,000" contribution (it was $13.4K, Beth).

Would Steinhagen have the same appetite to bring her organiztion into a hospital sale if she knew  about Mason's wheeling? Or might Appleseed be encouraged to oversee our May 10th election?

I would ask our City Council or Mayor Zimmer to invite Appleseed to oversee our next election, as well as involve them in the PUBLIC DEBATE over wheeling.

Note to Ms. Steinhagen.  Here's Beth Mason, founding member of POG, having a good old time at a dinner honoring the defendant in POG's 2005 lawsuit-- and there he is, her friend, Ruben Ramos!

The event was held on Feb. 29, 2011.

  1. GA from the Appleseed NJ site:

Assisted rightful winner in Roselle election in absentee ballot fraud case
Christine Dansereau was seen as the 'outsider' candidate in the Union County Democratic Party's 2006 primary for Roselle's 5th Ward council seat.  On election night, she emerged victorious  - until the absentee ballots were counted. An astonishing 54 absentee ballots edged her opponent Rosemarie Bullock to a narrow win.  Dansereau challenged the primary election results and, after a six-day trial, the lower court invalidated 31 of Bullock's 54 absentee ballots due to improper ballot handling by Bullock's campaign workers. Dansereau was reinstated as victor, and went on to win in the general election. Bullock appealed on the grounds that the court lacked sufficient evidence to invalidate the ballots, and NJ Appleseed stepped in to represent Dansereau and uphold the principle that elections should be free from abuse. The Appellate Division agreed, upholding the lower court's decision to invalidate the questionable ballots.  The case sparked a state criminal investigation into voter fraud.

  2. POG should change their name to POS. They are nothing more than a Piece of Sh**. I guess that Appleseed was spoon fed by our Queen of Transparency. I am ashamed that I joined that group. It is nothing more than a shill for Beth Mason. You simply do not negotiate in public. That is an insane idea. Once the Authority chooses a final bidder, there will be a public hearing. This is how the process works. Another laugher is the 7 year guaranty to keep HUMC as an acute care facility. The original deal supported by Russo, Giacchi and Castellano had a zero time frame. Politrickery at it's finest.

  3. Thanks to this revelation and the last one on NJDC, the shelf life of Mason scams using public interests groups to do her bidding is down to a few hours. Moreover, they will now be greeted with total skepticism, eg, guilty until proven innocent.

As you sow also shall you reap, Beth.

And the mayor's letter on the subject is perfect in tone and scope. The cc'ing of the AG is the coup de grace. Try waving 'transparency' in the face of someone who cc's the highest law enforcement official in the state in her rebuttal.

Appleseed now joins POG & NJDC as groups that have prostituted their higher causes to please Beth's fleeting interests. How's that working out for ya, guys?
