Gaga for Japan

GA loves Lady Gaga.

She's an enormous musical talent and a freak, to boot.  Completely original with a  fearlessness about her image not ordinarily seen in American pop stars, especially female ones.  Gaga makes no self-conscious effort to look sexy for us; she seems to morph into whatever inspires her, rejecting what  our culture deems conventionally attractive. Often she's just plain weird.

Here she is arriving on the red carpet at the 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony inside an egg.  Love it!

So, GA's been looking for an excuse to do a Gaga post.  I wish there were a much better one than this.

Gaga's donating ALL the proceeds from  the sale of a wristband she's designed to earthquake relief in Japan- minimum donation is just $5. Inexpensive and a wonderful way to trade on her popularity to help the people of Japan.

Japanese media just reported 9,500 people are missing in ONE TOWN in Miyagi Prefecture.

The folks GA spoke to in Osaka yesterday said casualties will rise into the"5-digits".  Whole towns swept away, including the one cited above.  The news will keep getting worse.

Back to Gaga.

  1. Ibid with Ms Gaga - easy target for the snarky but anyone with the creative Jones to turn any art form on it's head has my interest, likely even my support.

  2. How true, ply. But I can see this small gesture on the part of an international icon generate (at least) a hefty sum. Every bit counts.
