Liar Liar

Somebody's tush is getting real hot.

A disinformation campaign is underway on the blogs to paint Kids First as behind the reassignment of Hoboken High School Theatre Director, Paula Ohaus to a teaching position next year, a move extremely unpopular with students and alumni of the high school's theatre program.Though the move does not mean Ms. Ohaus will be unable to continue in her director's role, students, parents and alumni are anxious and it seems this fear is being exploited for political gain in the backdrop of a School Board election.

Interim Superintendent Carter tried to calm nerves explaining Ms. Ohaus' reassignment in his April 8th letter to "the citizens and parents of Hoboken":

"In the budgeting regulations promulgated by the State of New Jersey is a phenomenon known as Position Control which requires us to administratively account for each teaching position as a TEACHING position. Our review in the budget preparation process revealed a few individuals who were on the teaching staff payroll but not assigned specifically as teachers. We corrected that by eliminating those positions, only the positions, not the people. The people, the drama director among them, have been reassigned to teaching positions. The administration shall be able to state specifically what these teaching positions shall entail as the master schedule for the fall and spring is developed."

But in spite of this, a nasty campaign to smear members of Kids First as "pushing out" the popular Ms. Ohaus via internet message boards is underway.

Witness the antics of "parsleysage", believed to be Maureen Sullivan herself, former Kids First member now Real Results guru and blogger extroardinaire, on nj.com:

digdirt, thank you for putting this move into political context. Markle doesn't like Ohaus so she pushes Carter to move her out. That makes sense. The high school shows are one of the only good things going for the Hoboken schools. It's no wonder Markle wants to kill it.

more:

And didn't Carter also eliminate the IB program at the high school? And the Kids First reformers went along with it without a peep. Watch the video on channel 77. They don't mention a word. Only Maureen Sullivan brings it up and she voted against the budget.

Yay! Clap, clap. "Only Maureen Sullivan brings it up". Let's hear it for Ms. Sullivan. Hooray.

More pearls of wisdom from Ms. Sulliv.... uh, I mean "parsleysage"on another thread:

Kids First killed the IB program and the theater program at the high school. It was hidden in the budget they approved. Everyone should stand up and call out their scam. They are weasels.

Nice. Like the song goes:

Liar Liar, pants on fire
Your nose is longer than a telephone wire

  1. And you can see this rumor mongering in the Real Results campaign flier which states that they will, "support Hoboken High's award-winning theater program, which is now under threat by the board." Markevitch was handing out these fliers on of all days April 1st. Who's the fool with their pants on fire? I guess when your campaign has no substance you might as well spread fear with rumors.

  2. Patch has an article today describing the fear and anxiety these children are experiencing over the fate of Ms. Ohaus and the entire HHS Theatre program, fear that Real Results and bloggers like 'parsleysage' are cruelly exploiting.
