And it was. A little stuffy in Kidde Hall.
I missed the pre-game show, an assault, which was the talk of the playground this morning. But I will leave that for others to report, not witnessing it myself. Darn.
For now, I only have time for posting pics. However...
I want to say that ALL debate participants deserve appreciation for putting themselves out there, agree or disagree with their platform, principles and politics.
Serving on the BoE is enormously time-consuming and requires sacrifice on work and family fronts. You subject yourself to scrutiny from the public, press, and uh.... bloggers, you have to be on TV even when you're having a bad hair day (did you consider that, Leon?) and of course, it's unpaid. Furthermore, meetings are held in a basement, a hardship for Board members with claustrophobia. Think about it. A meeting room to you is somebody else's windowless tomb.
My phobia is insects. Were I on the BoE and Perry Lin got his way about outsourcing building maintenance workers I'd be in BIG trouble if a swarm of locusts attacked Wallace School during an after-hours meeting. Gosh, we'd have to PAY those outsourced workers OVERTIME to attend after-hours meetings! Too expensive. That's why I'd never run for the BoE.
Oh yes, the photos... one more thing: Smarty's are much better than mine.
You ought to go to his site instead. He's got a better camera (although mine was a recommended "Best Buy" in Consumer Reports magazine) which was still working well in spite of the assault. The one which I did not witness and will not report.

Lane is getting frighteningly unhinged. He physically shoved Roman, ripped his camera out of his hand and called him a son of a b*&&h as well as a few other colorful words because Roman was taking pictures of the audience. Lane did this in view of all who attended. He is becoming a danger to the general public. Very scary. Definitely out of control.
ReplyDeleteDon't scare me, janis.
ReplyDeleteAre you saying the recent harassment on the blogs- outing me, then posting my name everywhere, giving it to other blogs, then ranting at the CC meeting is only the beginning?
When did this town get so toxic?
janis, do you think it's wise to start documenting (download or screen cap) the online harassment- at 411, Revolt post, on blogs he's given my name to. The CC rant is on video.
ReplyDeleteJust in case.
AHHH it was an interesting night. The RR team didn't answer any questions. They went off on so many tangets that you forgot what the actual question was. And if was great when Markevitch wanted to do away with a state law, don't you agree? Maddigan just bashed Markle all night. Colon couldn't speak proper english yet has an Associates Degree in Applied Science (whatever the hell that is) and talked only about the Housing Authority. Howitt sort of made sense with somethings, then went off on his own stories that made no sense. Waiters was angry and pissed that Connors is being knocked down. All in all, I feel it was a 3 ring circus with a few punches thrown in there. When does the circus come back to town?
ReplyDeleteLane is unhinged. I would do whatever you need to do to protect yourself.
ReplyDelete3 ring circus for sure. Loved when Markevich said she would ignore the federal law of following IEP mandates, if it cost too much. Sure, trample on handicapped students rights- forget about Federal Law and IDEA. You forgot to add Madigan's assertion that after Connors gets knocked down (waiter's belief), we're going to sell it. Circus for sure!
Done. I have screen caps of EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteIncluding the stuff on 411.
Ignore IEP Mandates?
ReplyDeletewhat next Liz Markevitch exterminate the imperfect?
I think she would get rid of everything she feels is pointless to the children, like transportation. As she said, it's not for the children. It really makes you wonder where some of these people are getting their information from. If they were more involved in the district they may actually beable to answer a question or two and know that mandated laws.
ReplyDeleteLiz Markevitch should be more accepting of those who aren't blonde and blue.
ReplyDeleteOne spill and any child (heavens forbid) could end up needing ADA compliant buildings even temporarily
Has Real Results engineered the master race?
My son, Info the Younger, had an IEP. I'm very sorry to hear Ms. Markevitch sees this as an extravagance. It wasn't for us.
