Augie zings Mayor Zimmer on Power List

Readers of Political Insider expect a tasty helping of snark with political dish prepared by Chef Augie Torres.

But GA was surprised to find a little arsenic in Mayor Zimmer's helping today in Augie's Power List."

Augie's quotation marks around the word "she" appear to reference litigation emails leaked by Carmelo Garcia prior to the November election.   The emails, leaked to the press and Zimmer's political enemies were spun as "proof" that that the mayor's husband was "the brain trust behind Mayor Zimmer... the "Wizard of Oz hiding behind the mayor's skirt's" (quote by Al Sullivan.)

Al Sullivan's November 1, 2015 column, "Citizen Grossbard"

GA obtained the leaked emails and debunked this spin as absolute bullshit.

Maybe Augie needs to dry off from the Hudson County testosterone pool, and get it in his head that a woman is leading Hoboken, not a man.  Augie's bought into the misogynistic "Stawn" talking point, or taps the nasty whisper campaign by the mayor's enemies.

Knowing the mayor, she doesn't care. So, this is from me (and anyone else who feels likewise):

Boo, Augie!

    1. I don't think Augie and any word including sex have had any real importance since the late 70s.

  3. Angie seems to forget that Ma Russo was the real mayor of Hoboken... and still thinks she is

    1. I hear they are evicting long time hispanic residents from Church Towers which opens up places on the infamous waiting list.
When the family went in front of the City Council last week to plead for help Councilman Michael Russo said nothing.

  4. To deny "Stan" isn't behind the scenes running part or all of the show is to be in denial.
Meeting with Carmelo Garcia and Sen. Kenny in a NY bar ( I dont care who requested the date ) not only shows Kenny felt the need to deliver Carmelo to the power behind the throne rather than go to the Mayor herself

    1. By "the show" you mean governing Hoboken? Stan has no role in governing Hoboken, doesn't "run all or part" of the City. That's absolute bullshit. Stan is a behind-the-scenes political adviser as the leaked emails showed. As far as I can tell, the advice in those leaked emails wasn't taken. Believe it or not, the mayor's husband is a resident taxpayer and entitled to be politically active if he so chooses. SHOCKERS!

"Kenny felt the need to deliver Carmelo" is absolute bullshit. Grossbard took Kenny- a friend, a witness, and a buffer between himself and the scheming Carmelo. In hindsight, it was a pretty wise decision.

All of the City Hall conspiracy theories have been exposed as bull. The SLAPP suit was supposed to "prove" that City Hall was directing bloggers. Well, the Bajardis put me through 540 days of discovery and found NO LINK between bloggers and City Hall. ZIP. Al Sullivan lied about the leaked emails- that they proved Stan was feeding bloggers. I have the emails and they show NOTHING of the sort.

    2. What does Carmelo, Kenny and their "Friend " Stan have to do with your SLAPP suit?

    3. How many "resident taxpayers" have lunch in another state with a Senator and the City's Housing Director?

Wow, talk about "open Government.... I hope they enjoyed their 3 Zimmertini Lunch

    4. GA- your comment : "Grossbard took Kenny- a friend, a witness, and a buffer between himself and the scheming Carmelo. In hindsight, it was a pretty wise decision." ... is spin of the of the facts . As those secret audio recording revealed, Carmelo and Bernie took the Path train over to Stan in NYC together. Bernie even explains why he is there... to get Carmelo to be part of the tea. He was bringing Carmelo to Stan. If this was all so innocent, there's plenty of places to dine in Hoboken after work....

    5. Sorry, Anon, but you're obviously spinning like crazy and entirely wrong. Here are the facts:

      1) Carmelo begged Stan to meet with him in order to a) try to save his job and b) try to entrap Stan into saying something on tape.

      2) Stan saw thru Carmelo's schoolyard-level plan and invited Kenny along to the lunch in order to have a witness and buffer against Carmelo's attempted entrapment.

      3) Carmelo came off like a fool on the tapes and everything ended up blowing up in his face anyway, no surprise to anyone.

      Any questions?

    6. It was Carmelo Garcia's party.
These bulls shit posts are trying to rewrite the facts .

    7. Anon 1:21- Baloney. "Lunch" was Carmelo's plan. Stan invited Kenny. Kenny and Carmelo work(ed)in Hoboken. Also they had a friendship- "HAD". Since friends don't tape friends. Stan's office in NYC. It's pretty obvious Carmelo set Stan up- so "Anons" like yourself could say, "If this was all so innocent, there's plenty of places to dine in Hoboken after work.. "

Who wants to dine with Carmelo after work. Do you?

    8. Was this the tape where Carmelo invokes Jesus in a toilet stall?

    9. My understanding is that Carmelo had a friendly relationship with Kenny and Carmelo asked Kenny if they could meet with the mayor's husband. Kenny being friendly with nearly everyone was able to get everyone together, where Carmelo tried, and failed, to entrap both of them.

    10. After Garcia's underhanded, bonehead move with wiring himself up I doubt Kenny or anyone else will or should ever trust him again.

    11. How anyone ever trusted Garcia is a mystery to me. He always seemed "off". Now I know why, but I never thought "Gee, there's a guy I trust."
