Innocent Explanations

Very true that the situation over at the Russo Civic AssociationGA noted yesterday it was "closed"- may indeed have an innocent explanation.  I tried not to preclude that possibility, but in case it wasn't clear I'll do that now.

Here are some innocent explanations for the missing sign, the unplugged electronic devices, folding chairs on the floor, abandoned shoes and stacks of packed boxes:

1. The sign was removed for fixing, and the place is kinda messy. Reader taithbedwenarian noted the interior always looks like that.  I'm no one to judge anyone else's housekeeping.  I've got furniture everywhere and shoes in the shoe rack.

2.The sign was removed because the rental unit above above is vacant and being advertised, suggested another reader.  I guess they take the sign down every time the place gets rented.  Who wants to live above a sign?  Not me.

3. The Russo Civic Association is moving out of 420 Adams. To somewhere. Else.

4. They're renovating and the work permit fell out of the window.  Into a waste basket.

5. They suspected the place was infested with bugs.  Even the sign.

And the only way to deal with an infestation is to find where they are so you can get rid of them.  A particularly pernicious type, even more so than the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana), is a bug called the Eavesdropper (Feds ara listening).  If an infestation of this type is suspected, an exterminator will not suffice. Every single object inside and outside the area must be unplugged, disconnected, opened and searched including any projecting illuminated signage on the building exterior.

Here is more information about this troublesome bug:

Did you know that today's Eavesdropper can now "Listen-In" to your room conversations from truly incredible distances? That innocent looking Electric Outlet at the base of the wall can actually be picking up and transmitting every word . . . and every whisper . . . of your most private conversations. And, that harmless looking lamp can be hiding a Miniature  Eavesdropper that is revealing your most confidential discussions, or leaking out valuable information to agents in Newark? What about that illuminated sign projecting above your front door?  It may be stuffed with Eavesdroppers.

Are there Eavesdroppers in My Telephone?

Yes!  Maybe. You never know. It's also now possible for them to tap your telephone so that a receiver placed in the trunk of a car parked 4 blocks away from your home will automatically start a recorder whenever your telephone is picked up . . . record your entire telephone conversation . . . then automatically turn off the recorder when you hang up.

Another kind of Eavesdropper picks up even whispered conversations in a room (and without your telephone ringing), transmits all speech and sounds down the telephone line. . . WITH YOUR TELEPHONE STILL REMAINING ON THE HOOK!

And, the Eavesdropper can safely do his monitoring from any handy telephone . . . quite literally from anywhere in the world! He simply dials your telephone number and using a variety of electronic means, prevents your phone from ringing and then is able to "LISTEN-IN" to everything that occurs on your premises. And, rather unbelievably, the use of this particular pest has now become extremely common.

Ugh. Gross. GA can't stand bugs. So I can't blame the Russo Civic Association at all for cleaning out the place if they found (or even suspected) one or thousands of these things were infesting their headquarters.  If that were my  headquarters, I might move to a new location. (See explanation #3 above).

So, that's it.  A missing sign and a mess do not a closing make.

Comments

  1. Hoboken411 was concerned about RCA moving on 7/31/2009. Note the snarky attitude toward the place.

Hoboken411 found RCA's zoning variances worthy of comment on 11/15/2009.

Hoboken411 noted the irony of Pupie for mayor signs in the windows of RCA on 5/28/2008. This was before Margaret became a Mason butt-girl (note the contempt for Ines).

Much has changed. H411 hasn't said a word about the RCA bug-out. And not because they haven't noticed.
