The Last Nail

GA was  ready to move on from the  OCS Letter Smear-Gone-Awry trilogy  and then a reader sent me this note:
Novak apology? *crickets*
With a link to this in the Jersey Journal:

What does it say?

That the letter Chamber of Commerce President Mike Novak/Mason411 used to attack the operations of  the City of Hoboken under the Zimmer administration was in fact based on a review of "past hiring practices" of four municipalities hit by "Operation Bid Rig".

As for Hoboken, here is what the Comptroller's spokesman said:

"They've already addressed a lot of the deficiencies we spoke about in the letter," said McAleer of Hoboken's current hiring policy.

There you have it.

GA's  already pointed out the inappropriateness of the leader of Hoboken's Chamber of Commerce to be impugning the operations of the City he is charged with advocating for on behalf of the small business community.

Now that the Comptroller's office has weighed in and removed ALL doubt about their review process and findings, noting past 'deficiencies' have been addressed under the Zimmer administration, expressing confidence that the City will address outstanding deficiencies in the forthcoming Action Plan...  do YOU think Novak ought to retract his attack-piece?

GA does.

The membership of the  Hoboken Chamber of Commerce ought to.

But, he HASN'T.

It's still there.  No retraction, no apology.

Hence, no credibility.

So many ironies...

He's the guy who tweeted about my unfitness to serve the City - a player in the attempted coup to steal my seat on a municipal board... here proves his own UNFITNESS TO LEAD the Hoboken Chamber of Commerce by bashing the city he's charged with advocating for...  was on Peter Cammarano's City Council slate-- Cammarono swept up in Operation Bid Rig for selling access to the same municipal board GA serves on... and  spins the Comptroller's review of Hoboken hiring practices to tar Zimmer when in fact it was triggered by the criminality of  the guy he ran for office with in 2009...

WOW.

Loaded, isn't it?

  1. How does Novak explain his position as Head Chamber Maid errr Head of the Chamber of Commerce when it was well reported that The Cammarano Campaign stiffed local Businesses (commerce) out of 10's of thousands of dollars?
Wasn't Novak the campaign treasurer when the Dweck cash flowed in?

    Bounced checks

Mario Jimenez, owner of Big Banner Plaza, a strip mall at 401 Jackson St., is one of the affected merchants. He alleges that his check cashing business lost $30,000 to $35,000 due to campaign worker paychecks that bounced.

“I almost went out of business,” he said last week.

Jimenez said his lawyer tried to negotiate with Hayden, Cammarano’s attorney, to avoid litigation, but Jimenez said nothing came from it. He said he plans to file a lawsuit against the campaign.

His lawyer, Louis Zayas of North Bergen, would not comment on any potential litigation or negotiations.

“Unbelievable,” Jimenez said. “I want my money back. If it wasn’t for family and friends that lent me money, I would have gone out of business.”

  3. Boy, GA and Tony, you nailed this one. But ask them to apologize? Are you trying to give me a heart attack? If you see someone walking down the street later today laughing their ass off for no apparent reason, that's me. Goodness knows with the screwups in that Cammarano campaign there were and will be no half-way measures, and they're taking no prisoners. Ooops, bad word choice I guess.

  5. Let's face it, Hoboken had a dysfunctional atmosphere for decades. The forensic audit found 44 serious violations. They couldn't tell if anyone was stealing money (e.g. my neighbor, the former Parking Director)or not. At almost every council meeting there are corrective measures taken to bring our regs up to date. The taxi and limo section is up all the time for tweaking. Last meeting was the noise ordinance. If anyone thinks we won't uncover more problems, you are living in a dream world. It's just a fact of life, that you can't fix decades of problems in 1 to 2 years.
