So, Ruben's got ties to Stack and Healy and surely helped Carmelo get his dance card punched. Campos would have won outright without a runoff. Then he supported Zimmer in the runoff. Even without the run-off provision in November, Raia is a factor... a negative one for Ramos, according to the word on the street. The trouble for him is he doesn't have what to support Ruben with. If he had any clout here Zimmer would never have been a councilwoman much less a mayor. Stack still owes close to $1 million of campaign debt from 2007, at least some of which resulted from his foray into Hoboken supporting Chris Campos against Zimmer in 2007. As for his "troops" they would drive votes to Zimmer so I imagine she'd welcome them. If I were her I'd offer to pay for the bus. It must be frustrating for the great Union City boss to be completely impotent here in Hoboken but both he and Zimmer know that's the case. So the answer to "is Stack supporting Ruben is basically "who cares." Does it l...Easy to control is about the size of it. Does it look like there's anything more that this goofball brings to the table? Maurice wanted a shot at a Cammarano do-over so he could pluck a nice, fresh-faced kid with the political bug and sell him to the Old Guard while peeling away a few yuppies who might not know better. When the 4th Ward special election came up, Maurice had been grooming Timmy to take the shot, but Jamie Cryan wanted it too. Lots of Old Guard folks thought Cryan would have the edge since he at least has a morsel of a clue, but he's also a hustlin' shademeister with skeletons, so too risky. Timmy was an empty husk, which is exactly what they needed. Timmy and Jamie had a latenight sitdown and Jamie blinked (he's kind of a wuss, really, takes his marching orders almost as well as Dimmy Timmy. Thinks he's large and in charge as Dem chair, but all he's really in charge of is jack and shit, and jack left town a long time ago).

So that's the bottom line with Timmy Schmucko-PeePee. Empty husk, blank slate, takes orders like a good little pup. I mean think about it - Bethy told this munch to throw Fulop under the bus so she could buy her way in with the HCDO. Why would Timmy do that, after all Steve did for him? Because he follows the rules and doesn't ask questions, that's why. Like a good little boy. Fulop not-too-quietly supported Dim Tim as a personal favor when they were work buddies at Alliance Bernstein. He didn't think too much of the kid's political acumen and figured he was sticking his neck out for a dunce, but enough stars lined up to make it politically worth his while to bite the bullet and help the kid out. At the time, Maurice, Novak, Russo and Carmelo were all steering plenty of peeps over to Fulop's fundraisers and bringing in some big dollars. Then there was the personal relationship with Timmy, which Timmy viewed as them being peers and colleagues but Fulop always saw as a yappy little pup he at to throw a bone to get to shut the hell up already and get out of his face. Plus Fulop wasn't a big Zimmer fan and his handlers had an old beef with Lenz and wanted to prove a point. So Steve came through for the kid despite misgivings that he was a complete and utter moron. That's 100% for real, you can bet on it.

So Dim Tim turns around and sticks it to the guy with the real political chops who helped get him where he is. Swimming with sharks, I tell ya. Well, shark is too strong a word. Sharks have sharp teeth. Ain't nothing sharp about Timmy.Hoboken Hipsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05240371451653586542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8982097314224201904.post-32393927233165799592013-05-08T12:17:56.292-04:002013-05-08T12:17:56.292-04:00FirstFirstHoboken Hipsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05240371451653586542noreply@blogger.com
