WARNING: DeFusco PHONE POLL!

Stay alert, people!

Councilman Mike DeFusco's hefty war chest has bought him a phone poll, which has been dirtying up telephones (and ears) citywide!

Yes, GA got it.

The pollster addressed me by name (creepy),  identified her organization, then asked if I would take a poll about "local issues".  I replied "Is this the DeFusco campaign poll?"  She didn't respond,  just repeated that the poll was about "local issues."

Then she asked: (1) "Are you affiliated with the media, broadcast or a radio station, etc?" and (2) "Do you have any political affiliations..?"   When I told her I was a political advocate, she cut me off. Buh-bye.

So, this poll is really not about surveying registered voters- which I am.

The poll is about staying off the grid (no media) to spread disinformation about Mayor Zimmer and 'brand' Mike DeFusco to voters who are more open to suggestion (not connected to politics).

GA calls this a "push poll"; because cherry-picking who can participate shows that collecting information from a cross-section of voters was not the purpose of the call.  And "no media" to report its 'alternative facts'.

From the NY Times article, "Push-Poll Defined":
“Push polls” — which are not really polls at all — are often criticized as a particularly sleazy form of negative political campaigning. Voters pick up the phone to hear what sounds like a research poll. But there is no effort to collect information, which is what a legitimate poll does. The questions are skewed to one side of an issue or candidate, the goal being to sway large numbers of voters under the guise of survey research.
Folks who took the poll have contacted me; one person had this to say:
I just finished a Defusco for mayor telephone poll. It was hard not to laugh through every question!  It was a live person. And a big push poll. Surprised Shake Shack did not come up but did described how he fought for green space and then got on zoning board and fought to preserve the character of Hoboken.

“Do I have more/less doubt on voting for DZ since she decided on plan for 10 foot wall that doesn't protect NE or train station”

“Do I have more/less doubt on voting for DZ as she was mayor when the city lost the discrimination suit by the director of public safety”

Asked if I thought DZ was ready to fight the Trump anti-urban agenda

Pollster said DZ raised taxes but nothing about fixing budget and credit rating.  The 10 foot wall thing was wrong.  It would come across really bad if you didn't know the history and background of each issue

Asked to choose: Very Favorable, Somewhat Favorable, Neutral, Somewhat unfavorable, Very Unfavorable for:
Dawn Zimmer
Anthony Romano
Karen Nason
Michael DeFusco
Tiffanie Fisher
Jen Giattino
Ruben Ramos
Michael DeFusco
Tony Soares

Do not remember Bautista coming up at all.

DeFusco was described as fighting for character of Hoboken, his work on zoning and council, all great stuff. Like Superman. DZ was described as focused on bike lanes and pet parks while there were still pot holes, parking problems and crumbling infrastructure leaving people without water... "So who would I vote for: DZ or DeFusco?"  I swear the lady was chuckling at me every time I said I'd still vote for Dawn after the ridiculous questions

One open question towards the beginning what are Hoboken's 3 biggest problems.

Then who I would vote for if it was between DZ/Defusco/Nason/Jen
There are lies, then there are lies-by-omission. Check and check.

You've been warned!

  1. Sounds like a blogger who has no life and never goes outside her house is scared. Also sounds like a certain female blogger is creating her own "anonymous" posts and creating what seems like attacks against other candidates and blaming it on Michael or his people when in fact it is not. You're not a very clever lady GA. You're not as smart as you think and your blogspot site isn't as secure as you think.

  2. Change your Facebook password too, it's weak.

  5. 12:26 and 12:28- You are pathetic. Chrome 57.0, OS X, 1280x800- you come in on a different proxy every time. Your comments are of a coarse, threatening nature- you dropped the homophobic slur against Mike DeFusco. You haunt this blog... figures you commented 9 minutes after my post went up. How come? Got no life?

Of course you don't know my Facebook password- and it's not "weak". You couldn't guess it in a million years, douche. Tell you what, since you 'cracked' my Facebook page, who IMed me about the DeFusco phone poll? Give me his/her first and last name.

C'mon schmuck, show everyone how you cracked my Facebook account. Tell me who IMed me about DeFusco. It's right at the top.

You have no access to blogspot either, you dumb POS- dumb enough to post that you've committed wire fraud.

BTW, your shitty comments are no longer welcome here. Will manually delete them. Every one. Now fuck off.

  6. Does anyone know where DeFusco or the other guy running stand on getting a new high school in town? This is what the people really want, and maybe a shake shack!!

  7. Mason needs a home and a lot of DeFusco's antics have so many parallel's with her. Maybe she is supporting him? Maybe this was actually her poll. GA - I hope you ask MDF directly if it is poll. Will be interesting to hear the response. Although I get the purpose of a push poll, sometimes though what they are pushing is so ridiculous that it backfires...

    1. I wouldn't bet on it. I hear a Nick Sacco loyalist is DeFusco's political strategist.

  8. Is Mike Defusco aware of the menacing and, more recently, felonious tone of comments made by his campaign insiders?

Does he not have enough of a mountain to climb already without associating himself with thugs?

Forget about becoming mayor, these people will make it impossible for you to hold your council seat.

    Wake the fuck up.

    1. When he gets booted off the CC, I won't cry. He pretty much stinks. Being "better" than Terry is a very low bar that just about anyone with a pulse could have achieve. We deserve better than that.

  9. Times like these make me glad I gave up my home landline, although I have to admit it was kind of fun to rain all over Mason's push poll parade by laughing at the questions and talking up reform candidates.

  11. Thanks for the head up GA.
They called. Same number from Englewood. Three times, every two hours yesterday afternoon

    Call 1. Sorry not interested
    2. This is a push poll, leave me alone
    3. I am active in politics... "thanks for your time"

    Thanks GA!

  12. There were a few more questions I guess GA's source didn't mention. My personal favorite was whether I'd vote for Tony Soares for mayor in a race including Soares, Zimmer and Nason (no DeFusco). They also called Zimmer a Christie supporter which would come as a surprise to Governor Christie who probably has spent some time putting pins in a Dawn Zimmer voodoo doll.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Soares ran for Mayor instead of DeFusco? I've heard that he's been telling people for years that reform would have won if he was the mayoral candidate in 2005 instead of Marsh. I wonder if he's undermining his new best friend Mike the same way he's undermined his old best friend Carol for years.

    1. Mason tried the Soares boogie man thing already, good luck with that kids. I thought he was busy trying to become Superintendent of Schools still....

    2. Soares does a very good job at undermining himself and he doesn't need others to help complete the process.

    3. The Soares boogie man point is interesting, but it seems out of context and unresponsive to the previous post. Perhaps you should read the posts to which you're responding more carefully before replying. If you find anything difficult to understand as you seem to have here ask for clarification.

    5. What an odd post. I've never heard of anyone polling an internet screen name before. But in line with the previous poster's suggestion can you clarify what you mean since I as well as probably others don't understand what you're trying to say? That would help me and others formulate an appropriate response.

  13. I always give them answers that seem to be in support of the candidate who paid for the poll, just to mess up their results. But I do love saying things like "I've never heard of Anthony Romano".

    1. I mess with them the opposite way. When they ask things like "If you knew that Dawn Zimmer drowns cats would that make you more or less likely to vote for her" I say more likely - I hate cats. And I said I'd vote for Soares since that was pretty much the most ridiculous question in a completely ridiculous survey. I know at least 3 other people who did the same. with the joke votes included Tony might out-poll DeFusco. Run Tony run!!!

    2. Push Polls happen closer to an election, this was a message test poll and candidate test poll. Word is it was funded by a union trying to decide who to support. Everyone does polls
I got the poll, it was rather benign

    3. Can you tell us where the "word"that this was funded by a union "is?" You must be a pretty informed insider to have access to such an inside "word."

I can always tell when I'm being polled by Zimmer because the questions always sound the same. Same with Mason. You could always tell it was her poll because the questions were nasty and included untrue statements presented as "facts." This sounded an awful lot like the polls we used to get from Mason.

As an insider attuned to what the "word is" maybe you could explain that.

      Thanks

  14. Sacco will be endorsing Zimmer

    1. Joey will be really disappointed. Does he know yet? Did you hear that "word" the same place you heard the "word" about the poll being funded by a union trying to decide who to support? Are they trying to decide between supporting DeFusco and Tony Soares? That would explain the horserace question with Tony but without Mike.

    2. Yeah sure. The day I shit ice cream.

    3. More likely Sacco will stand down and do nothing in Hoboken this time around.

    4. Unless Tony Soares kicks ass in the union funded poll as many politically knowledgeable people expect he will, given his stellar resume and extraordinary personal charm.

Who in Hoboken doesn't love Tony? He's more popular than ice cream and chocolate combined.

Nick will almost certainly climb onto the Soares train after he sees those results.

Its funny that people are actually stupid enough to think this was DeFusco's poll when Tony is so obviously going to outshine him in the results.
