Defuscoplexy

GA's been trying to figure out why the Defuscoplexy.

I mean, isn't it a matter of public interest that an up-and-coming Hoboken politician with an independent streak is fundraising with the Mayor of Jersey City?

GA didn't think it was a big deal to put that online on a Saturday morning.

Next thing... BOOM! It's that initial  Defuscoplectic reaction immediately following the publication of the invitation that is puzzling.

Did GA spoil a 'secret'?  The Defuscoplexy and dozens of comments are not-for-nothing.  What does it mean?

GA's been asking around.  A political insider had this to say:
You've really touched a nerve with [redacted #1]. DeFusco has done himself no favors by taking on [redacted #1] as his political rabbi. With friends like [redacted #1]. Mike has no need of enemies! What does it mean?  Not really sure but based on [redacted#1]'s reaction it definitely means something. No question to me Mike is mulling a mayoral run but I doubt he'll do it unless he thinks he'll be able to raise $ hence the importance of this event using Fulop's name. The implicit message to HCDO/ developer type donors delivered by [redacted #2] was that Fulop and the county boys are going to take Dawn out and they should give and be rewarded. But it was supposed to be under the radar. Just a wee bit of sunshine seems to have blown up the plan. The idea of Fulop subtly endorsing DeFusco by headlining his fundraiser was almost certainly [redacted #2's]. But it seems once the sunlight poured in Fulop didn't want to burn.

DeFusco has a bright future in politics-- in time.

What threatens DeFusco's bright future are individuals with dark agendas and axes to grind in the present, pointing him toward the sun.

  1. That does not sound like a small affliction. Someone needs a little medication.

  2. I don't believe Fulop knew DeFusco was considering a mayoral run. Someone must have told him and that's why he pulled out.

  3. So he was a day late and a dollar short.

  4. What a joke if he runs.

  5. @5:29 Here we go with the nasty puns... I think the point can be made without that stuff.

  6. Agreed. In fact, they are gross, cruel and GA readers should not use or tolerate them. A substantive discussion about the bad advice here should be the focus.

  7. DeFusco is turning into Cammarano Jr.

Nice guy and then the power brokers fills his heads with "bigger things"

Just another sleazy politician. Sad. Had high hopes.

    1. I don't think Peter Cammarano was ever a nice guy.

  8. On a different scale--Obama didnt wait in 2008. Why should DeFusco now?

    2. Obama was a 3-term Illinois state senator and served in the U.S. Senate for 3 years before he mounted his presidential campaign.

  9. MSV included a line in his coverage of this story, which if it proves true, is disturbing and enlightening, that DeFusco and Romano are working together . DeFusco deferring to Romano and allegedly saying he is "ready to go" if Romano isn't running against Zimmer.

    1. so does that make romano "redacted #2"?

    2. Just took a look- that's not exactly right. MSV wrote that DeFusco "offered if the senior official [Romano] chose not to do so, the first ward councilman is "ready to go.""

The word I have is that Romano does not care for DeFusco, at all. No, Romano is not "redacted #2."

  10. I could see NJT wanting to help elect a new pro big development mayor in Hoboken rather than continue to negotiate with a united Mayor and City Council who has been holding their feet to the fire for years to limit their building plans on the rail yards.

  11. Almost no sand left in the sandbox. Might as well take my trucks and go home. I'm telling my trucks that I'm their redacted rabbi so they don't feel like they're missing out. I'm sure JayZeke will be here soon to help everyone sue everyone else.

  12. Why does this guy think anyone really wants him as mayor? He is far better a CC member than the person he replaced but she was pretty widely hated so that is a pretty low bar. Any random homeless person in town would have made a better CC member than Terry. Being better than her doesn't qualify a person to run for mayor.

  13. DeFusco should wait and gain more experience what Hoboken needs right now is someone who's really been around for at least 25 years or so, serving in many official roles including councilman since at least the late 90s, who knows their way around planning, zoning, flooding and has a proven ability to reach across the aisle. Ideally someone from the 4th ward who really knows the tough issues some people are dealing with. Someone with experience in the real estate industry so they understand the concerns of all stakeholders and can get people talking to each other, but also with, say, advertising and marketing experience so they know how to communicate effective in simple sound bytes.

It's way past time to get rid of this dumb, incompetent mayor and raise the bar from just saying, "vote for me, I'm not corrupt" to actually getting things done and turning this into a world class community where people want to build cool things and help everyone make more money.

Hoboken needs a really, really smart and well known candidate who could maybe put a promising newbee like DeFusco on his ticket to help bulld him up for a future run.
