Parents United candidates TRASH Hoboken High School (VIDEO)

There were some angry parents tonight at the Hoboken High School Open House; angry to see candidates who said last Thursday night that they'd "never" send their kids to Hoboken High.

Not never!

I'm talking about Parents United.

Parents United made a cameo appearance
As one parent put it: "They had the nerve to show up!"

Imagine that.  Parents United came hat in hand looking for votes, only days after trashing the High School at the QLC Hoboken School Board Candidates Debate, where they brought a gang of THUGS to terrorize and distract their opponents, Forward Together (1-2-4).

The false, disparaging statements about the High School are too numerous to repeat. The lies include: "QSACs have gone down" (false- QSACs have gone UP from 34% under Anthony Petrosino to 76% under Reform), that the "number of  kids graduating High School have gone down" (false- graduation numbers are increasing, Parents United quoted wrong), and trashed our SAT scores (ignoring the obvious- 83.1% attending the HJSHS are "economically disadvantaged" according to the 2014-2015 NJDOE performance report).

At the same time Parents United disparaged the High School, they admitted that they had not gone to a single School Board meeting, which showed.   Parents United were woefully uniformed about Hoboken High School's array of exciting new and existing programs.

So you can imagine, tonight parents were absolutely livid to see them there only days after trashing their High School. One observed: "the staff were none-too-pleased to see them there."

Why should they be?

High School staff, faculty and parents know that Parents United took a big dump on Hoboken High School and its students last Thursday.

High School staff, faculty and parents know that Parents United  brought an APE to harass candidates 1-2-4  with a flashlight and thugs to make noise in the rear, distracting the audience when 1-2-4 spoke.

Folks, it's no secret that the people, thugs and apes backing Parents United controlled the Hoboken District Schools until 2009 when Reform gave them the boot.

They are BACK in 2016

The thugs want Parents United to win, to get back control of the Hoboken District education budget then plunder it  like they did before.

GA documented some of their atrocities in a series of posts gleaned from the 2005-2006 KPMG Performance Audit of the Hoboken District Schools.  I called the 2011 collective:

    1. Personal attacks on my child will not be tolerated.

Parents United has already attacked the 14 year-old son of Irene Sobolov. That was disgusting. Ironically, the individual who attacked Irene's son at the debate later said something to the effect of to "leave children out of it."

These School Board candidates have openly voiced contempt for the High School, they own it now. They are asking for our vote, and are subject to public scrutiny. The fact their campaign brought an ape to shine a flashlight in the eyes of 1-2-4 does not speak well for them.

  2. I want to apologize, this isnt a personal attack. Its to prove a point about personal choice. We all want the school system to be the best it can be. But we have to lead by example. If the cheerleaders for the High School dont send their own kids there, then why should we?

    1. That's a bullshit argument. I am a proud district parent, PK-3 through 8: Brandt, Wallace and Hoboken Junior Senior HS. Calling me a "cheerleader" makes you an asshole. I'm a district mom who believes in what I say and donates my time to enlighten the public about the kind of corruption that left the schools in such a woeful, neglected state it has taken years to undo the damage. You simply cannot believe our schools do a great job; it behooves you perpetuate the trash talk. As for my kid, I support her unconditionally in her choices. I would be delighted if she chose to stay. She enjoyed wonderful after school activities at HJSH: the aquaponics team, Havard Model Congress Debate Team, Johns Hopkins. She was sad to leave. Isnt it a shame that I know a helluva lot more about the High School than the people seeking office- their lack of knowledge while trash-talking the school was a disgrace. District parents have been listening to the same kind of trash talk for years- it suppresses families from choosing the district which is the central problem of our district.

I am requesting that you sign your name to the next question about my kid.

  3. You left out the part where they all send or have sent their kids to the District schools. We send our kids to the District and will send to the high school unless the old guard forces out Dr. Johnson or we move (because they forced out Dr. J). But we can't force teenagers to go to the school the parent wants. Maybe you should lead by example and stop trying to undermine Forward Together's efforts to improve our schools.

    1. I don't recall reading or hearing that Dr. J was leaving if the outcome of this election goes the other way. Thats a flat out lie and fear mongering.

Kids first has been in charge of the district for 7 years and how many superintendent's have they had?

How long does it take to turn aound a district?

    2. It's infuriating that people who trash-talk the schools really know nothing about them. I credit my kid's experience in science lab at JSHS with her (high) career aspirations- a particular task not offered in Hoboken's other districts. The District has had a positive influence on her development, and I am personally grateful for the Reform board members who have given so much of themselves to do the right thing.

    3. 9:06 - You don't know what you're talking about. We have only had 2 permanent superintendents. Nationwide on average, most superintendents last around 4 years. There were several interim superintendents which by definition cannot remain hence the turnover. Dr. Clark was the first to start the cleanup once KF took over. Dr. Toback left because the fat f*ck in Trenton is doing all he can to undermine District superintendents with salary caps but no such cap on Charter superintendents. Dr. J stayed in her prior district for around 5 years and came here, I suspect, because she saw a place she can make a difference. And I agree.

And if you think the Romano/Raia crew will not undermine Dr. Johnson's efforts and cause her to leave, you're lying to yourself or to us.

    4. Yeah, Dr. Clark was an interim super. So that's only 2 permanent.

  4. Assuming my kids agree to attend the High School. No doubt their friends will have a greater influence on them then we ever could.

  5. Didn't Chipper " church towers " Benway attend Hoboken High?

  6. Imagine applying for a job as the president at General Motors and say "I's never drive a Chevy", "no Way I'd buy Cadillac " or Buick isn't safe for my kids"?

Benway, and his back up singers are dangerous and imho bigots

  7. If Benway, Nelson and Rossini won't "Step Foot " in the High School, how will they ever be able to fix it?

  8. The Mayor and Her Husband send their son to Hoboken high. Now I don't think they are stupid, aren't able to discern a great school vs. a bad school or have a problem with tuition if they needed to send the kid to a private school.
They don't need to be lab rats either.

THEY and THEIR SON CHOSE Hoboken High.

If it's good enough for Parents who work at places like Google, Goldman, Citi, Educators in colleges, attorneys, and can well afford private tuition, why isn't it good for Benway, Nelson and Rossini?

Benway having his low squatters rent can do the Mike Russo tuition program and use his rent tax subsidy and send his kids to elite private school I guess....

  9. "No doubt their friends will have a greater influence on them then we ever could." WTF does that mean - Anon @8:54? Sounds like a disgusting, racist comment. It is well known that most of the students at the HS come from low income families - which makes the distinct eligible for Abbott funding. Are you saying that the low income students who may become their "friends" will have a "greater influence" on your child? What are you really saying? Sounds like a racist dog whistle to me.

    1. No. The opposite. Poorly worded by me. I want my kids to go the HHS but I wouldn't force them to go there. But I would absolutely urge them to do so. Very urgely.

  10. Don't be sorry for speaking the truth. No kid or parent wants to send their child to a school that is 83% economically disadvantage unless they have no choice.

    1. Thanks, you racist thug - the issue was cleared up by Anon @8:54 above. You, on the other hand, need to slither back to the rock which you reside under.

    2. What an elitist idiot you are. Well, at least you admit you're a bigot.

So, because you don't want to go to school with "those people"- you and your ilk may perpetually dog whistle about the HS "poor performance" when it is YOU who are part of the problem. Parents United has no "solutions" THEY are the problem, bashing the HS and decrying it isn't good enough for their children. The solution is in the hands of the community- not to listen to YOU.

    3. Nice to finally see an admission that the District has a dramatically different demographic profile than the other 3 school districts in our square mile city.

    5. Historically to me, the only problem with district that is mostly economically disadvantaged is that it gets less funding that a rich neighborhood school.

I don't know if any of you watched the recent Nova episode abut education. I think it would be useful for some of you to watch, and really interesting for the rest of you.
