Nice work, HPD

Back at ya!

GA thanks the Hoboken police officers involved and the guy at the top, Chief Ken Ferrante, for another job well done!

Take a look...  not one of these 12 rotten apples hailed from the Mile Square.

    1. I agree. What a turnaround since I had two detectives in my home pressing for a confession for a "terroristic" blog post- a piece of obvious political satire. They were dispatched to 'take care' of me-- a case of collusion btwn the HPD and anti-administration politicians I had satirized. The hour-long interrogation traumatized my kid, who was present. I could go on. Well, the fish stinks from the head down (Falco). Ferrante has been working his butt off to restore the community's faith in the HPD. I see the difference he is making.

    2. As the old adage says: The fish rots from the head.

  3. Hoboken really needs to start cracking down more on crime. We are where the money is so we need to be merciless in punishing criminals. I don't care if it is the frat boy crowd w/ drunk & disorderly citations or petty criminals who steal packages. The only way to get this sort of stuff to stop is to make it clear to people who misbehave to take their nonsense elsewhere. So Chief, please charge everyone as an adult whenever possible and toss them in the can for a bit.

    1. Really? It's my impression that crime is down in Hoboken and the police have generally done a really good job, particularly since Ferrante took over. It's impossible to eliminate crime and the police should always be vigilant, but the city is much safer now compared to the past.

    2. It may be impossible to eliminate crime, but you can make the penalty for committing a crime serious enough the criminals take their act elsewhere.

    3. anon@2:04, can a city dictate its own laws and punishments? don't they have to adhere to state and federal law?

    4. Crime in Hoboken is way down. Those who either don't or refuse to remember Hoboken during the crooked felon Russo years was mayor. You had a good chance back then of not finding your car in the morning and even a greater chance of finding it vandalized. The streets were filthy. Break ins were commonplace and the cops didn't give a sh*t or were off sleeping in their cars by the sewer plant or visiting their girlfriends.

Oh and remember the HPH SWAT- Hooters scandal that further dragged the name ofHoboken into mud.

    5. Jeez that in some ways feels like ancient history but it really wasn't

Wasn't Russo in some of those SWAT pics boozing? What was he doing on the trip?

    6. We did it w/ $1,000 fines for open containers on St. Patrick's Day. Why not $1,000 fines for other misdemeanors - and judges at the Municipal court who are tougher, and cops who ask all prosecurtors to charge offenders as adults - especially offenders from outside of town. A slap on the wrist and a court appearance is about as useful as a donut is to the a cop's diet.
