50 Top Self-Funded Candidates in NJ: 3 from Hoboken

Well folks, in case you missed it last September (2015) when New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission  published their White Paper 26, “Legislative Elections 2013- Big Spending, Little Change Plus a History of Self-Financing by Legislators and Others,”  GA  brings you....

Table 20.

Embedded below, Table 20 lists the "50 Top self-funding New Jersey Candidates*".

Can you believe that 3 of NJ's top self-funding candidates are from Hoboken?

Can you believe on this list of candidates for President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Governor, NJ Legislature... that #10 from Hoboken, blew $1.395,852 for a Ward seat on the City Council, and to lose a distant third place campaign for Mayor?

*GA has removed one column from the original chart ("Inflation Adjusted Amount") for readability.

GA Note:   Props to Deputy Director Joe Donohue at the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC), author of White Paper 26.

  1. 1.4 Million!!! All to be the most reviled politician in town. Waste of good money.

I'm assuming this does not take into account all the money paid to year round campaign people putting thoughts into an empty head, harassing a single mom and her child, sending a camera crew to harass Zoning board member, midnight flyers, etc.

  2. You mean #10 REPORTED $1.4 million.

    1. Never seen payments to the bloated, bottom-feeding Weehawken sardine reported, for starters.

    2. Between the $0.5M SLAPP, the paid operatives, the Lyndhurst office, the Wash St. lair, the Nazi truck, in kind "help" to Occhipinti, miscellaneous political operations-like suing Jim Doyle, underwriting Carmelo's attack ads in the 6th ward, years of advertising in the reporter, advertising on patch, on hoboken411, the contributions around the state, the Sweeney AC bashes etc etc etc ... add it all up and (estimated) $5M flushed down the crapper-- where is she now? Begging to pay for wakes and burials.

      Karma!!!!

    3. I would estimate that Tiffanie Fisher spent maybe 10K and a lot of legwork and elbow grease to achieve the same result, 2nd ward councilperson.

Tiffanie notably has a brain and an MBA though so she does not require the 5 million to make up for the lack of brain power

  3. Holy crap, all that $$ for a lousy city council seat in ONE ward seat of a ONE square mile town???? How incredibly embarrassing. At least Carmelo is smart enough to spend other people's money. And at least Zimmer has gotten decent ROI on her spending.

  4. So wait, this means Beth and Ricky are not only on the all time top 10 for campaign violations in state history per NJ ELEC but also for campaign spending?

That's pretty impressive. Well, it certainly will be if it's followed with top 10 prison sentences for perjury, laundering funds for SLAPP-suits and other law breaking.

    That would be historic!

  5. These people all have a lot of money. Are any of them looking to hire a ba-job-seeking-ba-job-seeker who can help them WIN?

I hear he needs some extra dough these days...

  6. How embarrassing for someone who got paid so little. And those figures certainly don't include the cost of renting out that nice Washington St. location or any of the rest of the $ she wastes trying to get people to like her. Mason is pathetic.
